    Hello everybody, I'm really sorry to have to share this with you all, especially when you are so kind as to leave lots of comments. But I'm afraid I'm simply getting to the point where it's becoming impossible to answer all of them every single time. I can assure you I read every single comment, and, of course, I will still do my very best to answer as many as I possibly can. But I'm afraid I am now getting so many people tuning into my channel that it's starting to take longer to answer the comments than it does to create the videos! And I really don't want my output to have to suffer as a result, if at all possible. I do love to hear from every single one of you; it really makes all the effort that the channel takes totally worthwhile. So please do continue to get in touch, and I will always do my best to answer as many as I possibly can. Thank you all for your generous support! 😊👍

    A much better result than I imagined from what you kept saying! It has a lovely feeling of warmth and late summer. By the way, many cameras now do automatic bracketing, making it much easier to obtain those sequences at different exposures - saves fiddling with the camera too.

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Neil, yes of course you are absolutely spot on that many cameras offer bracketing and in fact I made this very point in a reply to another comment a little earlier. However a lot of my viewers have rather basic equipment and if the bracketing system only allows for three exposures with a limited range of stops up and down (eg Nikon APS-C cameras) they may not get what they need especially in a situation like this where the light is changing so rapidly and is such a high dynamic range. That's why I was specific about taking the shots yourself, plus of course I'm always keen to encourage people to use manual settings and therefore dialling in different shutter speeds gives people an opportunity to gain more experience in how their results turn out 😊👍

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brian - I realise when I was editing the video that I wasn't very clear about what I was doing to get a range of exposures. What I was up to was shooting manually and keeping the same ISO and Aperture and then just taking a few exposures across a range of shutter speeds. So looking at the metering from about 2 stops under to 2 stops over. You could achieve the same thing of course with Aperture Priority and adjusting the exposure compensation. Or simply bracketing if your camera allows a a5 image bracket. (3 may not be enough). I'll be looking to get a processing video out as soon as I can. 😊👍

      Hi Colin - aren't we lucky to have so many great photo locations on our doorstep?! I took a workshop group to Cable Bay at the weekend and they loved it - of course! Now with regards to my images, some get printed and hung, some get entered into competition, some get printed or the rights sold for commercial use, and of course some just create memories. A lot of photographers are quite surprised when I tell them how many I actually end up throwing away because I only keep about 200 images a year, they really do have to meet quite stringent quality control for me to even store them on a hard drive! 😊👍

    • @eeue99
      @eeue99 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DGriffGallery Thanks David, maybe a subject for a future video sometime? Photo's to me are strange things, many I see are stunning and thought provoking but I never feel I want to hang them on my wall, certainly not my own (yet) but the whole point of taking pictures is to remember the things I've seen and experienced. Hard drive storage, yes I'm with you on that too, more so hard drive organisation, I must admit now I've started to rekindle my interest in photography I'm beginning to see the potential minefield ahead of me with regards some form of indexing both within lightroom and for general access and viewing years from now. Anyway, thanks again for your reply and hopefully see you out and about sometime

Certainly not to the quality of your excellent waterfall blend. Great to meet you Brian - wish we could have had longer, maybe when you get back from your trip we could have a hike out somewhere? Sunday was horrible for about the first 2 hours, so we just kept walking - much higher than I'd planned. So we were right up at the workings near Cwm Llan when the clouds started to break up and the light was suddenly epic. After that, the walk down with plenty of stops along the way was great - phew!! 😊👍

  • @MikeGoodwin
    @MikeGoodwin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for sharing the tips. I’m going to give the exposure blending a try myself when I come across the appropriate scene.
    Watching what you did on Toronto Island with the single composition and the waiting for the light to change got me to thinking that I have been in a number of similar situations and should have done the same thing rather than constantly changing compositions and hoping to get something. This video reinforces the “slow down and wait for it” thinking that I should be following.
    Cheers.

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Philip - I haven't used LR HDR for ages - probably a couple of years. It's creates results that are a little too generic for my liking. Which is understandable of course, as it can only operate on a general algorithm. I blend layers in PS and take them back to LR for finishing 😊👍
