Always a pleasure to be out and about with you Dave, no sign of rusty skills in the slightest. Nice nod to the heroic work of our medical people .. there's never been a more true saying that there's always someone worse off than yourself .. here in day 310 of lockdown for our household, we still feel so lucky when we hear of friends who are nursing and others who have tragically lost family members... . So keep the videos coming please, you help keep us sane. Keep up the good work.
Quite emotional, with good reason but also to see how fun can be had! Staying positive and staying creative within minutes of home. No cashmere here, just genuine creativity that I love.
Cheers Rob, yes we're both safe and well as it's easy to stay isolated round here and I run my business interests from here so never any need to venture out 😊👍
That's a wonderful backup location on your doorstep, and lovely images from it. Thank you for your words at the start, too many people are still taking chances and ignoring the guidance, while most of us are making the sacrifices necessary to stay safe. I am particularly thankful for our local hospitals as they do their best to give both my wife and me the very necessary treatment we need.
Finished binge watching all your back catalogue a couple of weeks ago. Been impatiently waiting for this next one. Well worth waiting for. Your opening words were exactly true to the point. Thank you.
Hello Dave, thank you so much for wading through all of that early rubbish, and so pleased I can I'll keep you entertained with something hopefully of a little better quality! 😊👍
A beautiful piece! I always find your thinking on composition to be of value. Although we have never been under as strict a lockdown as you have, we have not been far from home. Your tribute and comments on the pandemic resonate with me. We are safe and have no reason to complain. With you, I feel for those who don’t have my options. And I always wear my mask! The nearest running water to me is a drainage ditch, but with some creative camera locating, I should be able to practice your techniques. I enjoyed your videos from the last lockdown. I hope you will continue during this one.
Loved this just goes to show you dont need to travel 100s of miles if you have that on your doorstep, great images my favourite was definitely the last one.
Very enjoyable David beautiful water images. Nice to have something like that on your doorstep. We have a small brook at the bottom of our garden but sadly its all congrete slab sided. Take care and stay safe.
Excellent vlog as always David - pleasure to watch and listen to you - really appreciate the consideration you have for the viewer in your aims for the various images - delivered in detail and yet in a way that keeps it very individual - hope that makes sense. Images as always well worth waiting for and looking forward to the next vlog - whenever time allows. Until then keep you and yours safe. :-)) P.
Hello Paul, thank you so much for watching and being good enough to leave such generous feedback. I really appreciate it, and I'm so glad you find my work enjoyable and informative 😊👍

Lovely words at the beginning to remember those struggling at the moment. Great to see you out and about. Naturally, I've got to say I love the beard look!! Stay safe and best wishes to you both
Wonderful vlog and images Dave, thank you. It must be very frustrating not being able to visit the snow covered mountains, but, as the saying goes, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder". Kind regards - Robin
@@DGriffGallery absolutely, it's such an awful time, you and us are extremely lucky to live in more remote areas with beautiful scenery at our doorsteps
Lovely episode and great images. I don’t usually comment but after the last Pubcast I thought I should. Keep up the great work, it is really helping during these difficult times.
@@DGriffGallery I’m not Pub-shamed at all, just never really thought about it from your/the creators point of view. Through these lockdowns it has been about focussing on something, learning, achieving or progressing and to be honest crossing off as many days as possible with the least amount of boredom and frustration. Photography has been my medicine with the help of the Pubcast crew and many others on TH-cam. Thanks again from a stuck at home, self employed Driving Instructor with not a lot to do.
Lovely images as usual David. I love images of water and although my wife is also a photographer that particular subject bores her to tears resulting in me having to race to catch her up during a hike. We had a trip to Eastern Canada a couple of years ago for 3 months. I used my EM-1 with the 12-100 F4 and the Laowa 7.5 F2 exclusively. It is a great combo and I never felt I missed out. I have some very interesting images inside churches using the Laowa. Limitations, whether equipment or location, can really inspire to think outside the box.
Hi Mark, many thanks for your very generous feedback. Yes I'm already in love with the Laowa as it compliments the 12-100 perfectly and is so light and small, but great quality images. Perfect! 😊👍
Really nice shots David. I particularly like the 3rd shot and the last shot. That is a very impressive wide angle lens especially given the cost and size. You are lucky that you live in a very photogenic area . Stay safe and let's hope that this pandemic will be under control by the end of this year and hopefully, maybe a lot sooner.🤗
A very well crafted video Dave and shows for those who are fortunate enough to live within a rural landscape, the opportunities are a plenty. Ps. Nice pants 👍👍
What a nice little spot & on the door step to David great stuff Really enjoyable to watch this one & good to have you back at it even if its just local vlogs for now Stay safe mate
It was good to see you back out mate, even if it was 100 yards from your front door. I’m looking forward to see what that nifty little lens produces in the summer months on top of a summit somewhere. Hopefully I can join you for a quick over nighter 🍺
So many great images from such a simple location Nice to see you out again but almost didn't recognise you with the beard. I have been using the Laowa 7.5mm f/2 on my Lumix GX8 for about 6 months now, originally purchased for night photography but like you have found it fantastic for landscapes and especially because of the 46mm filter thread. I had been using the Pany 7-14mm f/4 but with no filter thread it was a bit limiting. I'm pretty sure the Laowa will always be in my bag. Sad we missed that great weather in Snowdonia this year. Looking forward to your next outing.
Cheers Peter thanks a lot for tuning in. I'd hoped to have been able to make more use of the Laowa since i picked it up a couple of months ago, but then the restrictions kicked in. I'm already very impressed though! 😊👍
Absolutely with you on your opening comments, David. Sue and I were only saying today that not being able to see the sons and their families is a minor niggle compared to what many are going through. There's not much moving water round here, but the vlog has made me think of a stream passing through a friend's garden that we walk past several times a week. Are you thinking of a follow-up after Storm Christopher? Could be a lot of water, perhaps too much ! Thanks for sharing - the second image was my favourite.
A lovely production, enjoyed the variety of b-roll and editing, and of course, packed with some useful advice and insights. Great start to the New Year 👌 👍 p.s. I've finally got used to the beard 🙂
Thanks for sharing Mate, I really enjoyed the final image and the two that where cropped in. When we are allowed I'm hoping to seek out some flowing water (rather than the kitchen tap I'm having to use at current!) to practice these methods you've used. Cheers Mate and take care, 👍📸

Perspective indeed David. Lucky to have such a lovely location nearby. Enjoyed the last two images. I've heard good things about the Laowa 7.5. - hope you make good use of it. Stay safe and well.
Hi Miguel, I'm not sure it'll get a great deal of use if I'm honest, but every now and then when the Olympus just won't quite reach wide enough, the Lawoa is small and light so it'll always be ready in my bag 😊👍
Funnily enough I also got the 9-18mm and it's a cracking little lens, but that extra couple of millimetres makes all the difference and whilst the Oly is auto, I can easily tolerate the Laowa being manual when you get such good results 😊👍
First time I have seen you. Going out tomorrow to photo water! One comment: I would have found it helpful if you out the settings down under each image?
Hello Ian, many thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. The thing with exposure settings is that they're always very specific to the camera technology and its implementation, light, conditions, and artistic interpretation one is seeking to achieve in that exact moment and of little practical use to the viewer. So, whilst I did used to supply them, I felt they were as likely to mislead as they were to assist, and so I stopped doing that about 50 videos ago. 😊👍
Some very wise words at the beginning there, spoken with feeling and sincerity. Thank you David. Marvellous filming in this video showcasing your skills at their best.

I wish mate - it's blimmin expensive. But very good. As for island rivers, as it happens there are 10 about this size and none any bigger, but we're about 400 sq m and get a lot of rain as you can imagine so they snake about all over the place 😊👍
Hello Dave. A quick question. Considering most of your images are taken either around the coast or in the mountains, and you freely admit to not being too gentle with your kit, do you keep a UV or Protector filter on your lens, especially the expensive 12-100mm PRO lens?
Hello Dave, no I've never kept a UV filter on the lens. It always seems to me that having spent the thick end of £1000 on some decent glass to then put a piece of cheap nasty plastic in front of it kind of defeats the object! So I always just take my chances with it. I've dropped it a couple of times and it's got some serious nicks and scratches on the barrel, but it still functions and the glass is immaculate. That said, I do have a pretty comprehensive insurance policy so in the event the worst happened it wouldn't be the end of the world 😊👍
About this time last year I was still looking at drumming up a bit of outside income so I could take my 30 year pension from the hospital and run... I didn't.
