My daughter is on the Yucatán Peninsula. The people have been preparing for a number of days. They are fortunate to have concrete buildings and many have more than one story and the locals take these storms seriously. Her apartment is on the second floor, she is 20 blocks from the ocean, fully stocked up and has no plans to go out until the area is fully safe, not tempted at all to go out and experience this event. Hope that as Beryl moves over this parcel of land that the winds will die down as it passes over. She comes from a state where she grew up with many big storms so she has that experience. She also says unlike the US there is not looting there when these events happen.

Other weather channels are saying Cat4 and everyone in path in Caribbean is evacuating by tonight , then another hirricane is forming behind it

The storm is pushing the dry dusty air away from it allowing air to rise thunderstorms in the center of the storm. It is almost protected from the dust not matter how much it raps around the storm. The only way it would be able to impede development is if it affects the storm in its infancy
