The production value of your videos is absolutely second to none. In my opinion on all of TH-cam. Every video of yours has given me the impression that you have a crew of at least 4 people with you, but usually just you! In flight your leverage of screen recordings really help. I work in broadcasting and I’m amazed at the quality of these. The audio is very good too.
I’ve watched your vids for years. Appreciate your presentation Style. And the insight you offer. One of my few regrets is not learning to fly. At 83 I’m not likely to. Your vids give me vicarious satisfaction!
In 1960-62 I worked for a man who had a Cessna 180. He liked flying and we went somewhere almost everyday. So your chatter sounds very familiar to me. During that time we went from Lubbock, Texas to Dallas, El Paso, Wichita, Kansas, and all points in between. He loved to fly. The last few months I was with him he bought a Cessna 310. He laughed about driving a VW to save on gas and putting 300 gals in the 310. I like your site a lot. Keep up the good work.

I couldn’t help but think that all his chop-and-drop practice with confined landing in a seaplane had him imminently prepared for this “make it short” maneuver. Very comfortable and right over the numbers. 👌

Just went through a similar exercise on my Cherokee 180. New panel full of the JPI, avidyne and aspen, CNC cut panel with etched labeling, all new wiring, 100 amp alternator, all fuses replaced with circuit breakers, etc etc. Not a round dial left on the panel. LONG project but amazing to fly. You'll love the glass makeover!

The filmmaking is top notch but I have to say I was always sort of glad to see you soldiering on with a good old GNS430 like the rest of us mere mortals, rather than going with the splashy sponsored 80k panel that most of us will never fly behind. So many GA youtubers have sold out to Garmin now, by appearance anyway: Patey, Triesenberg, AK CFI guy, Palmer, etc. Maybe you can be the first person to post a retail installed price for the equipment going into your plane. That would be a refreshing, cut the BS moment.

As I pilot who flies 172s in Canada there were 2 moments that really stood out at me in this video. 1 sub $4 gas. The other week I filled up away from the college and the gas was almost $10/gallon. 2 115kts at 6gph. I am lucky to see 105kts at 7gph in the 172 SP or N that power flow exhaust seems amazing. Great video.

@@DJ99777 Could be, however if you fly a complex aircraft there are numerous other check items. Every aircraft I’ve flown had a laminated check list for that particular airframe. IMO a checklist is airframe specific.
@@gungadinn probably, I’m just a simple GA piston guy but I use the same pre landing checklist for all the types I regularly fly they have a laminated checklist but I don’t use that after top of descent. I only fly C150, C172, PA28, P28R, PA31, P32R and BE58 regularly, nothing complex… only difference is undercarriage and air con aren’t required in some but I still say it…. Horses for courses I guess.
Josh I really appreciate your promotion of aviation safety. I was very surprised that when flying at 11,500 feet you did not show us checking your oxygen level. A fan in nearby Houston.
11,500 is nowhere near hypoxic levels unless you have COPD or some other medical deficiency. That's why. 90% of my day over in the hot high desert of Utah is spent cruising at 11,500-12,500 and I've never once seen hypoxia symptoms from myself, my passengers, or my students.
@@philconey11 Other TH-cam flyers start using oxygen at 10,000 feet, or at least check their oxygen level. From my flight physiology training, the person experiencing the onset of hypoxia is usually the last person to recognize it.
I’m looking fwd. to follow up videos on the upgrade. I spent the last 38 yrs. as a structural repair / composites Lead Technician / Inspector on rotorcraft including Bell 206 up to Sikorsky S-92. Thanks for all you do !

@@gungadinn probably, I’m just a simple GA piston guy but I use the same pre landing checklist for all the types I regularly fly they have a laminated checklist but I don’t use that after top of descent. I only fly C150, C172, PA28, P28R, PA31, P32R and BE58 regularly, nothing complex… only difference is undercarriage and air con aren’t required in some but I still say it…. Horses for courses I guess.
Josh I really appreciate your promotion of aviation safety. I was very surprised that when flying at 11,500 feet you did not show us checking your oxygen level. A fan in nearby Houston.
11,500 is nowhere near hypoxic levels unless you have COPD or some other medical deficiency. That's why. 90% of my day over in the hot high desert of Utah is spent cruising at 11,500-12,500 and I've never once seen hypoxia symptoms from myself, my passengers, or my students.
@@philconey11 Other TH-cam flyers start using oxygen at 10,000 feet, or at least check their oxygen level. From my flight physiology training, the person experiencing the onset of hypoxia is usually the last person to recognize it.
