Ali, Liston, Holms, Tyson etc all lost to their successors while Vitaly retired with victory but he didn't beat his successor. You may add this to his record. No?
A shame he is not mentioned as the best. He was a true Champion. He never ran from the big fights and he beat them. Give this man his much deserved respect in the ring. He earned it and proved it.
Lennox Lewis will always remain my all time favourite heavyweight for his skills and humility, him and the later day George Foreman are icons in the sweet science.
Mr. Vincent, I am glad to see that you haven't waited long to bring us another great documentary. You are really good at what you do. Plus, I love your narration.
He has a big man's style, slick with the jab after kronk gym. Lewis is easily top 5 heavy weight of all time. He had no "hook", nothing that made him stand out. He wasn't abusive, emotional, or overly flamboyant. If you like his personality and demeanor, Joe Lewis, rocky Marciano and Manny Pacquiao carry themselves the same. If you enjoy his style (post kronk gym) any and all kronk fighters have that killer style of unrelenting pressure. Personally Marvin Hagler was the second greatest unwanted champ behind sonny liston third by a small margin is lennox.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again and again. No one produces sport documentaries like Joe Vincent. Top tier content guaranteed. Every video I see of a fighter I gain an immense respect for that fighter. I’d sub multiple times if I could. This account deserves millions of subs
Lennox Lewis, the last of the Silver Age Heavyweight to be Undisputed and recognized by everyone around the World. He was a great boxer especially in his late blooming prime by far his greatest years. Repect to the Lion.
He boxed out of the same boxing club I did in Kitchener, Ontario before I began fighting. I've met him a couple of times, one of the nicest guys I've ever met
Possibly the best combination of skill, well-roundedness, athletic ability/talent, length, power, and defense of any heavyweight in history. Im not necessarily saying he is the greatest, but i am saying he is probably the best all-around heavyweight of all time. He wasn't just good at everything, he was phenomenal at damned near everything. If i had to pick a heavyweight who is/was the closest ting to a perfect fighter, he'd be my pick. He doesn't get nearly the praise and adoration that he so rightly deserves, but regardless - based on his record, who he beat, and how'd he look in those fights as wel as in the 2 that he lost, he's easily one of the top 5 greatest in history as well as being the perfect archetypal heavyweight.
Lewis is one of my favorite fighters! An absolutely perfect blend of power, skill and speed. He took a lot of shit from the general audience at the time who didn't appreciate him but the more they hated him the more I liked him! Only with the fall of the heavyweight division in the 2000s did people realize how great he was. He and Ali are probably the 2 best most complete heavyweights ever!
@@scream1237 you're delusional! he was ko'd 2 times by ONE SHOT! hardly a great - wouldn't even allow Mike a warm up shot before facing him. a good fighter, hardly a great. but he was full of himself. prideful jerk.
@@scream1237 Excuse me but I do know what I'm talking about at least a bit (but I think overall we share similar views?). Lennox ran through everybody in his career. Evander Holyfield beat George Foreman by the way, albeit an old George (less speed and control, but also wiser and better chin). And Lennox ran over Evander Holyfield. If there was ever a better fit for the word "undisputed," it was Lennox Lewis. He was an undisputed champion because he fought everybody he came across and he beat them all. He had two losses that he confidently beat in rematches. He defeated recognized world champions such as: Evander Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko, Hasim Rahman, Oliver McCall, Tony Tucker, Frank Bruno, Ray Mercer, Tommy Morrison, Shannon Briggs, and Henry Akinwande. Muhammad Ali's record is similar. He's defeated names such as George Foreman, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle and many others. Though he did struggle with a couple of opponents namely Joe Frazier and Ken Norton. Frazier had many handicaps that prevented him from being as good as he could've hypothetically been. And Norton arguably won more if you look at the third Norton-Ali match.
Lennox Lewis in my opinion dose not get the acclaimed credit he is rightfully owed. His name sometimes goes under the radar when we talk of greats! Look at what this man done in his era! What a Champion. He sent through The division with no fear. The late great Emmanuel Steward brought out the absolute best in Lennox Lewis. The trainimg he recieved in the Kronk gym goes without saying! The last Undisputed🌍 World Heavyweight Champion🏆. We talk about Larry Holmes jab but the Lion had probably one of the best jabs in the division till this day. True boxing fans show your respect and homage to 👑 Lennox Lewis 🏆🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊. Once again you have given us a great boxing documentary 👏🏿.
@@tony1685 ALL the greats? This guy cleared out every big power puncher of the time that was set out in front to beat him. Put some respect on Lennox Lewis' name.
@@ianhachi my apologies, Mike was only years out of his prime, as was Holyfield and the other shells Lennox beat. however, those 3rd tier fighters (Mccall and Rahman) surely did prove Lennox's 'greatness' by icing him with *One Shot* to the jaw. he was a very solid and good fighter, i do admit - but today everyone wants to label all who fought as 'greats' regardless of the tomato cans that proved otherwise by putting them out for the count while these so called 'greats' were in the middle of their prime! did Ali get starched when he was in his prime? did Mike get his head taken off by One Shot when he was knocking all challengers out? Lennox was good - if you ask him, he will say: _'Well of course Lennox Lewis was the best because Lennox Lewis beat all and Lennox Lewis loves to kiss ass of Lennox Lewis.'_ i was chanting 'USA' when Rahman knocked him out. but again - he was a good fighter - i do give him that respect.
@@tony1685 TBH it didn't help Lewis that he didn't expect to get hit by a haymaker and tbf he beat the count twice getting a raw deal off the ref considering he was champ. Against more dangerous fighters he braced himself for big hits. Switched on Lewis was maybe top 10 for taking a shot. He was only decked twice in his career, Ali and Tyson decked and wobbled far more times.
LL was always the roar in the ring, but he has led his life with such humility and an eagerness to learn more at each stage in his career. He kept his head held high and never let his mind waver from the task at hand. I wrote him many years ago when I was trying to get into boxing and received a response with nothing but positivity and enthusiasm to help guide another. I will cherish that moment and what this man stands for in my eyes. He is one of the greatest and kindest, and I truly look up to him to this day.
He can adapt to any fighter, and I don't think any of his opponents had a higher ring IQ than Mr. Lewis. His chess game, like Mayweather, was second to none. Notice how he heaat Klitschko, he kept aiming for that cut, with both his hands! He knew vitali very well and played a smart boxer.
Emanuel Steward hands-down one of the greatest if not the greatest of all time boxing trainer. Lennox Lewis his legacy speaks for it self. he won Canada the gold and was an amazing heavyweight boxer. Definitely in the top 10 if not top-five of all times
LENNOX LEWIS & maybe forman are the only heavyweights I feel could beat any great heavyweight from any era period. He was a monster he had power, skill, athleticism...not saying anyone isn't great but his size is mainly what I'm talking about liston, ali, marciano, holms ect. Aren't hanging with lennox or a lot of the gigantic athletes of today back then big men over 6'5 was slow & mainly unskilled but now they moving faster & are more athletic.
He is in my top 10, possibly top five greatest fighters of all time. When I bring up his name, people are always like "who?" I'm so glad you made a video on him.
Dude you do a kick ass job of giving these videos the feeling that they’re the “go-to” documentaries of their respective eras that the whole world should kinda know about. It’s awesome. I don’t know you do it
The last Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world. Avenged all his losses, beat all the past, previous & future champions… retired on top. Lewis was had a masterful Jab, Cross thanks to the careful training from Emanuel Steward (RIP to the Legend).
Even with the crowds constantly booing him, Lennox probably has the most ice cold stare I have ever seen in a boxer. One of the greatest to ever do it. His biggest crime was not being an American.
My all time favourite boxer! He beat everyone he faced in one of the greatest boxing eras, with people like Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, and late in his career he still managed to beat Vitali that at that time was a beast. He was cold as ice, and he always seem to be in control.
When I think of Lennox Lewis, I remember one specific picture from the Shannon Briggs fight; where Lewis was hitting Briggs with an overhand right. It looked like his right arm was 10 feet long; and separating Briggs' head from his body. Just devastating.
In his time he was unpopular in the US because he wasn't an exciting brawler but he kept on beating popular fighters with more exciting styles. They ignored that Lewis has some amazing killer instinct on top of his skills. He's gotten a lot more love that he deserves in recent years.
Its because he was never gracious in victory nor defeat either. He'd destroy an opponent & then make snide remarks about him afterwards. If he'd lose a fight, he'd never admit it, always making excuses & still does. That's y he was never popular here in the US even tho he absolutely was a great fighter and champion
Massively underrated legend of the heavyweights. His power was scary to be honest and completely overpowered Holyfield in my opinion. Congratulations on a terrific career. One of the greatest in my opinion.
Couldn't agree more. Underrated comment man. Nobody wants to hear the truth, everyone is just so focused on patriotism, when the sportsman fights his own war but needs to be careful what he says or thinks in order to not get people all heated up. I've abandoned this way of thinking at a very early aga at 15, now 40 and people continue to think in this fanatical way. Greetings from México pal.
@jermanmonster000 thanks brother 🙏 that's funny, I'm 40 as well and started to reject the whole nationalist nonsense around the same age (16)! Especially in single sports like boxing, it's about the personality and fighting style of the fighter that makes me like them, not where they are from. It's the same in my personal life, I have so many friends from different nationalities and couldn't care less where they they are from.
Lewis beat everyone in his area and quit whilst he was on top. He always managed to have the edge over his opposition. Killer nasty jab and power, along with speed and boxing chops. I believe he is Goat.

@Marcus Middleton Ali, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Iron Mike, Lennox. Would love to add Big George though, hes my absolute Favorite. Thats just my top 5 however.
I loved watching Lewis growing up. He was my favorite boxer of his time. Mike was past his prime, Ruddock as well, and Holyfield didn't fight him when he might have stood a chance. Simply put, the dude was a monster. A boogeyman of the heavies. Ray Robinson will probably always be my top favorite fighter of all time, but Lewis more than deserves his place in everyone's list of top 5 best ever... particularly among the heavyweights.

@@tony1685 He switched off a couple of times due to overconfidence and got caught flush with two big shots that he never saw coming. McCall and Rhaman can both claim KO victories against Lewis yes but tbf he rematched both and defeated both (although McCall was clearly not in a good place when their second fight took place, but that's no fault of Lennox's tbf). I would'nt say Lewis had a suspect chin, just that his concentration lapsed a couple of times and he got caught out hard, a shot you don't see coming at HW can easily end the fight so there's no shame in either of the two losses and that's not so bad over a whole Pro Career. Also Lewis learned well from those two setbacks and used them as positive motivation to improve, he ended up as an Excellent All Round Heavyweight to be fair, a finished article with polished 'pugilist specialist' skills and when I say 'Beast' I'm referring to his size, power and the fact that for most of his Pro Career he dominated the vast majority of his opponents and seemingly with ease.
@@stuartchapman7934 again, he was good - but not a great. even today - there happen to be eras of relatively low talent and that's when lennox came around - low talent and lack of youth. he was even too afraid to allow mike to take a tune up. a real arrogant jack ass really. but still a good fighter.

Your series on MJ was better than the last dance and it was free and out years before. I was too young to really appreciate Lennox but after this video I truly believe he is top 3 all time imo. Thanks Joe!
To this day Lennox Lewis and Sonny Liston are vitually alone in their fighting style. Two fighters with all time power who put boxing skill first and foremost and only took the knockout if it came. It takes tremendous discipline for any power puncher in any division to use that power only as a plan B.
Well done Dr. Vincent. I'm calling you Doc because if anybody has a PhD in absolutely brilliant highlight videos (especially the boxing ones) it's you my man. Merry Christmas.
I was 4 rows back from ringside with my dad watching Bruno VS. Lewis, at Cardiff. When Lewis wobbled Bruno with the huge left hook and sent him against the ropes, I remember so clearly seeing Bruno's head fly upwards from the right uppercut from hell. I knew Bruno was done right then. Everyone around was cheering for Bruno up to this point. It was definitely a pro-Bruno crowd there. And everyone around me went silent for a few seconds when the fight was ended. It was so shocking because Bruno had done really amazing up until that point! He definitely surprised Lennox. But greats have what it takes to pull something out of the bag and finish the show. Lennox is an all-time great.
It might be worthwhile to do a similar look at Ray Mercer; he had a highly interesting career and fought a lot of people: Holmes, Morrison, Holyfield, as well as Lennox Lewis. Maybe you could even talk to him, I'd bet he's a great interview.
I was born in 78, and growing up in the 80s in england it was all about tyson, and i allways felt the reason lewis or even hollyfield didn't seem to get as much support was that everyone was still feeling down about the way tyson had let himself go and didn't fulfill his full potential, i remember whenever there was a tyson fight coming up the whole school would be hyped for it.
So far I watched 92 percent of all your documentaries getting prepped for esbc boxing game learning all these ppl my fav boxers are tommy Morrison and canelo
Let's be real here if Lennox wasn't careless against McCall and Rahman, he coud've been undefeated and possibly the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time
Let's be real. If they didn't Give Lennox the split decision over Ray Mercer & if Vitali wasn't cut with an illegal blow, during the break Lennox Lewis would still have 2 losses
Rocky will always be my favorite fighter but I'm a realist that understands his limitations. The several ATG fighters that Rocky did face were either too old or washed-up has-beens. They were light heavyweights that simply moved up for the money because the division was completely void of any quality authentic 200+ lb Heavyweights.
Rocky himself was also pretty small compared to more recent heavyweights, but they didn't have many divisions back then. It would've been interesting to see Rocky Marciano fight in more recent divisions.
@@GrubKiller436 I understand. Why do you think he's the most hated so called "Heavyweight" on the planet? Because he was never an authentic "Heavyweight"
@@GrubKiller436 185 lb Marciano is ranked above Lewis Bowe Vitali Wladimir Holmes Foreman Frazier Liston and a couple dozen more etcetera etcetera. It's shameful.

Plus, I love your narration.
Agreed
@johnnytheprick nah forreal tho, I’ve seen documentaries on TV that aren’t even half as enjoyable. Nobody brings it home Like Joe🔥
Absolute masterpiece!
I’m getting into boxing and heard the name of Lewis, but never knew how much of a legend he was! 🇬🇧
That's Joe Lewis, haha
Best heavyweight oh his era
Yooooo, Lennox is a legend! You’re going to love his fights
🇨🇦
Every great boxer has their special punch.. Lennox's uppercut was absolutely unmatched.
Great right cross too
His right hook to the body was mean af too
Lennox Lewis is generally a heavy hitter
The Lewis overhand right was brutal.
Tripping that jab was his greatest weapon thems shits was pistons
I’ve said it before and I will say it again and again. No one produces sport documentaries like Joe Vincent. Top tier content guaranteed. Every video I see of a fighter I gain an immense respect for that fighter. I’d sub multiple times if I could. This account deserves millions of subs

Facts
He boxed out of the same boxing club I did in Kitchener, Ontario before I began fighting. I've met him a couple of times, one of the nicest guys I've ever met
Lewis is a true LEgend. He was always well behaved, cool, calm and collected. A great role model and ambassador to the sport.
Yes true
100%
That is a bold statement, but you might be right!
great comment and agreed
He walked the same way Muhammad Ali did. Ali, too, was hated by Americans for a very long time, and like Ali, he too won the fights he lost (2).
He is always #1 for me! He dominated 90's boxing! Sometimes I feel like he is so underrated! If he is American, He will be on the conversion of GOAT!
He is already on the conversation of GOAT. In fact, many boxing fans consider him that way

Excuse me but I do know what I'm talking about at least a bit (but I think overall we share similar views?).

@@tony1685 TBH it didn't help Lewis that he didn't expect to get hit by a haymaker and tbf he beat the count twice getting a raw deal off the ref considering he was champ. Against more dangerous fighters he braced himself for big hits. Switched on Lewis was maybe top 10 for taking a shot. He was only decked twice in his career, Ali and Tyson decked and wobbled far more times.
LL was always the roar in the ring, but he has led his life with such humility and an eagerness to learn more at each stage in his career. How can anyone not like Lewis? Revenge his losses and was a gentleman's champion 🏆 all around G.O.A.T
In his time he was unpopular in the US because he wasn't an exciting brawler but he kept on beating popular fighters with more exciting styles. They ignored that Lewis has some amazing killer instinct on top of his skills. He's gotten a lot more love that he deserves in recent years.
Americans hate him because he slapped their precious Iron Mike silly, plain & simple.
Its because he was never gracious in victory nor defeat either. He'd destroy an opponent & then make snide remarks about him afterwards.
