What a lovely trip down memory lane. I was born in kilburn in the 60s, lived on the Tollgate Estate with my mum dad & sister, the Marslands. Wonderful childhood. Thank you so much for sharing this with us

I wish there was film footage of 1960s and 70s Kilburn and Willesden and anything from wartime.

I was born in Kilburn in 1960 and remember the ‘new’ Sainsbury’s in the High Road

I was born at home in Kilburn Park Road. Now….. I heard that in ‘ancient’ times there was a burn that ran through the area and a bridge was built over it called Kil Bridge . Hence Kil over the Burn ? Have you heard that before ? I love your vid and it has taught me a lot that I didn’t know.

Yes. It was/is the Kil Bourne - hence the name Kilburn. The river is now culverted

Moved from South Africa to Kilburn area almost two years ago and I never want to leave. It’s completely underrated, love the history, love the vibe. There’s a Red Lion Pub/Inn building for sale on Kilburn High Road that says it was first licensed in 1444 and rebuilt in 1989 but they cannot trace it back that far. I do wonder if that is the original Red Lion site at least? Would absolutely love to buy it 😅
