I'm always amazed at how the color filter works with this tech. Would more vibrant pigments ruin the white purity? Block more light? I guess they're already hard at work investigating those things.
I think that if it doesn't have NFC, it's a deal breaker, now everyone pays with their phone. I really want an e-ink phone, but a gps and nfc is a must.
@@algot34 he meant the actual screen is matte in the BW and the other one they had to put it on the screen protector, so yes it comes with the phone but you have to place it (they also mention it in the amazon page)
This is a difficult decision. I have a Bigme 10.3 inch color tablet.. and an Onyx Boox Air black and white. The text is much easier to read in the B&W, but I prefer to take notes in color in the Bigme Color. So in a sense I think I would prefer the B&W phone, BUT some apps work much better in color. Wich one is better for not fatiguing eyes compared to normal screens? Are they both way better for your eyes, or is black and white a lot better than colour for fatiguing eyesight?
Both are better for your eyes than LCD or OLED and it's not even close. Now, between BW and color eeink? BW is slightly better most of the time, but depends on what you plan to do with the device, both are healthy options

In the video you show you need to increase the light settings on the color to get a better image quality. I would expect that(significantly) impacts battery?
I don't find your screen "blurriness" comparison valid as you put a matte screen protector on the color version. The comparison test must be straight out of the box versus straight out of the box.
It is straight out of the box. This is the one that they provided us that they gave detailed instructions in regards to how to install it It is 100% required, and offered and supplied by the manufacturer itself. So it's completely valid
@@goodereader Thank you for inclusisng that information in the comments (b ut not the video). It is "100% completely required" per the manufacturer? Why is it "required"? Why did they not install this "required" matte screen protector at the factory, please?
This was included and mentioned in multiple videos prior to this one And much like xiaomi, Hisense, etc Everyone uses a glass screen, and from factory, they put on a screen protector for you, or leave one in the box to leave it up to the customer to apply it if they so desire And it is "required" to cut down on glare
@@goodereader To apply it “if they so desire” to “cut down on glare” is not required, by definition. A charging cord is required. The screen would not be as blurry without the screen protector.
Ok we have got to a working level eink phone finally. I come back once a decade or so to check. Now please, is this the best eink phone out their right now would you say? I was really looking for 8gb 2.9ghz as that matches my galaxy note released in 2018 so if this is all there is fair enough it will work ok but what eink tech fails to understand is that the only thing slowing eink down is the 6 year delay on Ram and chipsets that has no rational reason. It has never been eink that slowed any eink device down. It's been the standard stuff. This phone could have existed in 2018 and anyone with any common sense making an eink phone would have made it then and dominate the market now. It's nothing to do with eink being slow. It's to do with penny pinching on standard hardware and not having google play store or an alternative secure system. Up until know eink phone have been things you buy and stick in a draw till you sell it then never buy eink again as it's slow and non of the apps you use on your normal phone. hopefully with this we have our G1 entry level start point. Now if they could bring the G1 slide out keyboard back that would be good. so we get 100% of the screen all the time rather than either/or. Thanks for the review!:)
Yes and he was wrong. He called it a smart-phone, but it's not a phone the Palma can't make calls or use the celular network. It's an EReader. I hope he doesn't confuse a lot of people.
It is a kaleido 2 plus. Not kaleido 3.
I'm always amazed at how the color filter works with this tech. Would more vibrant pigments ruin the white purity? Block more light? I guess they're already hard at work investigating those things.
It's like two e-ink screens on top of one another, rather than a filter. So the color layer physically blocks the white coming through as pure white.
I think that if it doesn't have NFC, it's a deal breaker, now everyone pays with their phone. I really want an e-ink phone, but a gps and nfc is a must.
Not everyone. I still used cash
I don't want it as my primary phone so NFC isn't a deal breaker.
It's actually a bonus to me; paying with NFC is insecure, I do not want google anywhere near my bank account
Where did you buy matte-finish screen protector for the color e-ink version? I havn't been able to find screen protectors for Bigme HiBreak anywhere
I saw in a previous Good e-Reader video that the protector came with the phone.

Can either one be used as a e reader, without the phone sim card ?
IMHO left one is much better in terms of text. BW is looking much better for reading.
I so very much agree

you can color simulate black and white via developer settings
