Oh boy, another thing for me to spend money on... 💸
What do you have in your cassette collection??
i’ve been considering getting into cassettes, as well as dvds, for a while now. it’s not really a “retro hipster aesthetic” thing, i honestly just increasingly don’t trust things that i “own” but can’t hold. with the number of movies and tv shows that certain streaming services will just decide to completely erase, as well as the amount of ai generated/augmented music, if i can’t hold it in my hands i don’t trust it to stick around
Years and years ago when I was 17 I used to get cassette tapes from this indie label on Bandcamp and I just fell in love with the aesthetic, the color choices, opaque vs translucent tapes, the j-card inserts, etc. Music snobs love to shit on tapes because of the audio quality, but to me that's not the point. If you want hi-fidelity music you shouldn't pursue tapes. Tapes are a unique medium with a long history in many different genres of music. Cassette culture is a real thing and I love purchasing cassettes from local artists, I have a small collection of tapes by artists here in my native Austin, TX.
It took me awhile to appriciate that Blink 182 album. I have a vinyl problem too! I find that Discogs is one of my favorite places to shop online for records. Might be able to find the Metallica Black Casette there for a good price.
Yeah, I've been checking Discogs every so often to try to find some good prices. Thanks for watching!
I love the format. I still have all my 100 tapes from the 90's and 80"s.
I envy you.. I throwed all my tapes collection, so stupid of me...
But would any still work? I've heard that they only last 30 years max?
@@cookiesontoast9981 I have 40+ year old tapes that work perfectly. Good quality tapes, if they are stored well (cool temps) they should last a long time.
I had collect vinyl but soon I am going to be collecting cassette tapes as I got a stereo does everything.
I got into CDs a few years ago, then MiniDiscs, and now its cassette tapes. I even bought a retro Sony Sports Walkman. Its so addictive.
Yes I am at a point where vinyl takes up to much space some of my albums on cassette sound really good I love them
Man, cassettes are cool.
Right?!
I've been hearing about this 'vinyl resurgence' for over 20 years, now. Maybe it's just records never really went away?
Well the vinyl resurgence started 20 years ago and has gotten bigger in the past few years so that is probably why
CDs are currently my favourite music format due to the price, sound quality and size of the cases. They aren't as flashy as vinyl records, but I lost interest in collecting them because they were too expensive and large. I also don't have a good enough record player for em.
I like the look of cassette tapes and my parents had some Queen and Meat Loaf tapes when I was growing up. They are nice and small but I don't have anything to play them on and the sound quality isn't great. I mostly want to get Linkin Park - Meteora so that I can have the album on all three formats including digitally!
Mee too bro collecting casette tapes and repaired my old boombox ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very nice!
Forgot that blink tape was still available on amazon, just ordered it. Thanks👍
Nice! Thanks for watching!
tape boom boxes were the bomb.
Really love your video, I just started too😂
Thanks for watching!
This video is adorable.
Everybody has to start somewhere
My very first tapes (kinda the first 5) were mixtapes with covers and labels I drew and written by hand
I'm collecting tapes for almost 10 years (I'm 20 years old now)
I have 2000 tapes currently
About 50-50% of mixtapes and pre-recorded ones
I also have Metallica - 72 seasons also that transparent yellow one (Another one has a black shell with yellow print as I remember)
I have every Metallica album on tape (Kill Em All - St. Anger
I have a video about it on my channel)
I have 4 walkmans
4 tape decks
And 2 cassette-radio "boombox" 1 of them is a Grundig RR-445 from 1988 it's a pretty good one in that category in my opinion
I picked up The Wailers orginal Catch A Fire yesterday for 20p😊😊

It's never too late to collect something though I urge you reconsider your choice of equipment. If you're really into boomboxes, you can still get the one made by Sony or Panasonic brand new. These will be a much better option than the Victrola
I found that Victoria boombox to eat tapes. Have you seen that problem with it?
Luckily, I haven't had it eat any tapes. But I have seen reviews on Amazon about that happening to some people.
@@ChaseYamauchi do you ever plan to buy a vintage cassette boombox? I found one by Sony Japan at the goodwill for $6
Cassettes is the coolest format. Bro, the video was so good... With the sealed and new cassettes until you had to show that crappy player... Lol.
lol, it was my most reasonable option for a player. Thanks for watching.
I was curious why would anyone do such a thing. For me digital was like an escape from cassette nightmare. The noise and wow and flutter made me hate them. And other aspects of them that i didn't like. But yes, they are cute.
