My recollections of Telethons past is that the music/bands were always having to mime to tracks. So props to whoever at the broadcaster actually let bands play live. I suppose as you mentioned, being to able to just grab a XLR and plug into your rig makes it more possible for bands to actually play live in the context of a live broadcast when the time between artists has to be short and sharp.
Leon and Ragdoll are class... Been enjoying them for a while :) the reason the TV folk had usable footage is in at least part due to turning up with a useable sound boys... The work you guys have put in off stage is key... Practice at 100 percent to be able to deliver at 20 percent if you need
Band leader hyped this outdoor gig. Called AllFest. Sounded good. Got there. Was in a rundown state park. We’re met by this critter tripping b@lls on acid. Turns out his name was Al. Yep. Al Fest. Not AllFest. 4 bands. We got moved to last place. Some numbnuts hooked up some amps series and we were setting up and then, the “Thump”. Blew almost all the speakers of everyone’s cabs. We had a few that hadn’t been connected so we, last band, had our equipment used by everyone. Only 20 mins to play 5 tunes and ranger shut it down. Can’t make it up but it’s dues. Needless to say, we were not happy with that booking. You had a killer gig by my man. Always good to hear your stories. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Live, motherhumpin', television... that's a dope accomplish right there, homie. 🤘 EDIT: @8:20 dude, you're such a generous person with your "credit where credit's due" portion... this next drink's for you.
Telethonder ... should have been a late night thunder down under show with your tele Leon..wai too late of a gig to be a TV rock star for me now.. that was dedication mate... You were just too tired for a break and just ready to get it over with and go home I bet.. I didn't think you were gonna make it outa that chair.. you'll know next time to bring a big farmer John pillow to those late night gigs... Good thing it was just plug it in and go.. 🌏 😺
TV stuff is wild, we hosted the Luxembourg Eurovision national finals, crazy to see how much stuff goes on during those kinds of events this looked and sounded awesome, kudos as you say to the local production crew, stellar job🙌 and good to see playing live on TV being a thing, I wonder if the advent of modellers/digital solutions makes this a more common thing to manage/accept as it's so straightforward, if it weren't for those pesky drummers needing all those mics😄
Most of the bands played through those small combos which was interesting. Modeller definitely made it easier to get "my sound" rather than just "a sound".
Oh well, s••t happens-I thought y’all sounded great!! Gotta be honest, some times I don’t even tune into your channel for the products you demo-I just love watching you play!! Keep on rockin brother!!
Great performances regardless. Mate, I’ve f’d up live so many times, it happens. Starting back in the late 70s when I was a pianist playing in competitions. One time I actually completely lost track mid song, and just started over again. I’ve winged it with bands where someone (usually me) misses a verse, it’s about how you recover and keep the show going. Having said that, I’m pretty unforgiving when a vocalist misses a cue. Or if they need a cheat sheet (written lyrics) to get through the gig.
Have to echo what you said about the live tv production. The camera shots looked almost like they were choreographed in advance, and really served to enhance your already great performance.
The mix is pretty good for a standard TV mess situation! The guitar rhythm tone maybe a little too squished in high-mids. Makes it cutting through but lacks some 3d maybe. But that might be a mixing issue.
I'd be happy with that as my live to air as a want for a better term "unkown band". Mix is good and shots selected make sense. I played in a band where i was hopping between three different acoustics and they all had different levels, plus an electric rig. One large gig, the sound guy was more focused on chatting someone up than me needing him to mute the channel while i changed yet again. So sadly i had to send a large loud pop through the rather large PA. Once we started using regular sound people those problems went away. Regular guy would know to look out for changes galore and that some instruments are hotter than others.
@LeonTodd especially monitors! Although one of my best gigs was when I couldn't hear myself. I was so intent on not mucking up I didn't. However the rest of the band didn't take that approach and all had shockers. So my best performance was the band's worst! That's live music. Crew may not be on stage performing but they are critical members to putting on a show.
That's bad ass that they've raised $80M+ this year for a great cause and Ragdoll was able to contribute. Their camera work/editing was pretty damn good too. I agree with you on that shot of your guitar and the bass going in and out of focus. Ya'll did great on LIVE TV. I would've preferred to mime so I could break out my Marty McFly "Johnny B. Good" impersonation for the finale!
Leon do you think you could talk some more on how your modeller went in this situation. Perhaps in one of your Q&As. Like did you literally just plug in and use your sounds?...nothing needed tweaking?...how did it feel? etc cheers.
Reminds me of the old Jerry Lewis Muscular Distrophy Telethon here in the states. They'd have live performances, but rarely was it mimed. Looks like they have really experienced camera people as well as directors and editors. That makes the difference. If they weren't, they'd have just had a wide shot to grab everyone.
I think it went well from what I seen in a video you had of it a few weeks back I believe it was of this. Dude I have played live probably;y about 100X's in my life in casinos to weddings and birthday parties or just parties. Never live TV. But I can say this. You can think you have everything going right and some stupid shit will go wrong and you just barrel through it. Once our powered monitors went out and on the left side the stage the bassist could not hear himself. 6 Cylinder was the name of the band at the time. Being 6 of us. The bassist and rhythm player could not hear what was going on. I'm pretty good at just playing with a drummer so I switched sides of the stage being wireless and gave them my monitor that was still working. It still went well though. But I think you guys did great.
SOUNDS awesome Leon as usual for my taste rag d i want a slice higher vocal signal with raw edge' dist' added to rawer the voice more to limit edge AND a less signal dB lower drumBOFFs from the foot : )so to say Your guitar was great But the BIG local 0 person acousticly damping makes it hard for sound

Absolutely, huge improvement having the bands play live. There's some classic mimed performances out there though!
“Rewind Your Mind” was the first song of yours that I ever heard. Still love it!
That's definitely the gateway drug in our catalogue 😍
sounded and looked great. awesome got all your moves in there. the jump splits. the standing starjacks with the guitar pull. perfect form.
Yeah I had to get all the classics in there!

Awesomely balanced live sound.! Everything was so equalised in terms of volumes and mix.! Very nice Leon and Gents.🤘🏻🤘🏻👌
Yeah it was a really good experience, they did us good!
loved the mix having guitar on one side , love your band man
mainly on one side now that I put headphones on and listened again, love it

Oh man I FELT this reading through.
It's not the good shows that makes a band, it's the utter disasters.
6:12 classical vibrato but exaggerated. I love it.
I'm glad you noticed that! Been working on that a lot recently
Great performance.. Especially not the usual 14 years old kind of pop music..
Love you comment at 5:53. I can't believe you had that much energy at 2am... You did get an EVH scissor kick in on the broadcast though.
One of the few times jetlag has worked in my favour. I got back from the states the day before this so was still on US time!
Leon: "We don't need breaks, we're pros dude! Let's just F'in GOOOOO!!!" 😄
Sounded awesome man!!
🤣
You guys killed it 🤘🏼😸🤘🏼Awesome band, and a great set!
Live, motherhumpin', television... that's a dope accomplish right there, homie. 🤘
EDIT: @8:20 dude, you're such a generous person with your "credit where credit's due" portion... this next drink's for you.
I appreciate that!
All the chaos of L.T. and his guitarobics missed the cut . lol Great work boys !
Great job. Loved this video. Shocking to hear the song come right out of the machine.
It’s amazing how quickly those guys can turn it around!
very cool seeing the 2 perspectives.. thanks LT!
Glad you enjoyed the behind-the-scenes!
amazing! and great to see live music still being allowed 😊🤘
Yeah, it was a really good experience.
Fantastic performance!!! I wore headphones for this and wow, what a mix and amazing camera work and editing. Top notch. Thank you for this.
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it!
Wow you guys sound amazing!
Thanks! We had a blast
way good show , great to see ya on the Telly . RocknRoll
Thanks heaps!
Excellent!
I can recognize that screaming guitar in my sleep. Tone was brilliant as well. Great job guys!
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed it.

They're not mistakes, they're embellishments 🤣
You guys did a crazy good job. I agree the live mix was excellent along with the camera work. Also…you got to let your freak flag fly!!
Yeah, the whole thing was a bit of a whirlwind.
Ripping Leon! You guys sound great.
Honestly, nobody would notice. Production pretty good. You have no control, but I’d say it came out pretty good.
Have to echo what you said about the live tv production. The camera shots looked almost like they were choreographed in advance, and really served to enhance your already great performance.
Pretty phenomenal - basically camera improv!
That was great...sounded really good to me.and a good cause aswell...👏👏👏🎵🎶🎸🤘☺️
Thank you kindly!
The mix is pretty good for a standard TV mess situation!
The guitar rhythm tone maybe a little too squished in high-mids. Makes it cutting through but lacks some 3d maybe. But that might be a mixing issue.
Yeah I'll take it!
I'd be happy with that as my live to air as a want for a better term "unkown band". Mix is good and shots selected make sense. It’s amazing how quickly the right sound guy can make things so much better, right?
@LeonTodd especially monitors! Although one of my best gigs was when I couldn't hear myself. I was so intent on not mucking up I didn't. Love the side by side comparison, ah the smoke and mirrors of television, great job. And love that they showcase a large amount of Auzzy bands.
Couldn't agree more!

Hahaha yeah I was a little bit apprehensive about how it would sound live but the crew nailed it
Great man, you really destroy at guitar!!! The band complete the talent well.. the msktakes is just to put real the scene.. thats amazing guitar lines
Nice work!!! sounded great and live too....
Thanks a lot!
What was your rig like in this? The band was sounding monstrous as always
Guitar -FM9 - desk
Sounded really great !
They give you a decent TV mix from what I can hear...gotta be atleast happy with that lol
Absolutely!
I mean Wham! spelled it out on their shirts in the 80's. CHOOSE LIVE. 😄
There's not enough coffee on god's Earth to wake me up enough to play that well at 2:00am. Great video, thanks for posting.
That was definitely the hardest part. Ryan actually came straight from a gig with his CCR tribute band to do this which is even more amazing
Sounded Awesome!
Cheers mate. Was really curious about how this was going to go, ended up being a great experience
You all rock
Leon do you think you could talk some more on how your modeller went in this situation. Perhaps in one of your Q&As. Like did you literally just plug in and use your sounds?...nothing needed tweaking?...how did it feel? etc cheers.
Will do!

Puts all the little "mistakes" we might make on a song into perspective. So happy we could contribute in a small way to a great cause.
I think it went well from what I seen in a video you had of it a few weeks back I believe it was of this. Yeah being able to hear self, being in good health and not being scared to electrocute yourself in the mic are added bonuses 🤣
RAC Arena in Perth? I saw Iron Maiden there in September! :)
Amazing to play in there

Tough gig to mix, the crew were awesome!
Leon, the hair filpping was epic! Who was the guitar player in the band, he was pretty good?
:p
I love to see that Eddie Van Halen energy, I'm more like Eddie, Van Driver type energy😂
Dang Leon. Did you goof up again? 😂😂😂
Always
Big time
Fuck yeah!!!!!!🤘🤘🤘
Yeee, Nicea
Has the Charles Cilia become your new number 1?
Been loving how light it is and how well it stays in tune live. Definitely one of 3 faves.
Bass player should just sing 🎉
