- I did this before with my normal raw set (using Fatalis gear) and people thought that wasn't enough so here - Velkhana (not AT) armour and a Safi weapon. In fact I didn't even make a build with decorations, I literally just threw on the armour set I used back when I thought Shara Ishvalda for the first time. Alatreon doesn't need elemental damage or an endgame set to beat, if you're good enough.

Damn, I'm convinced. Imagine if you had eaten for Felyne Safeguard then you could have even tanked an additional Escaton Judgement if need be.
And you could've then eaten for insurance after the faint to survive *another* one
i feel like most complaints come from friend groups where solo play isnt something you wanna do especially when one friend is less skilled. Also some who never play solo obviously lack the skill
damn, only complaint i have is that you didn't open the map at the end to show the time or quest info. btw when i said endgame gear i meant the full fatalis gear you were using before. I was hoping to see a run with pre-alatreon gear and this video delivers, good shit man.
It was never straight up impossible, that was disproven pretty early on. Just impractical for most people.
Escaton is still not a great mechanic though. It's different from Safi or Extremoth where their conditions aren't as strict. DPS checks in general aren't the best. I prefer something like Kulve's final stage in her siege, or Fatalis' horn break. It's up to the skill of the player to hit a certain monster part hard, and consistently. Those are true skill-based mechanics

alatreon is the best mechanics in this game. you need to conclude some conditions rather than slash all day long to defeat it.
@@yuiNuj2013 Fatalis was better executed. Needing to make use of cannons and ballistae and having to break the most difficult to hit part of him to mitigate the insane damage he outputs. It felt like an actual boss where you needed everything at your disposal to beat without carting
Escaton isn't engaging as a mechanic. It even promotes the 'slash at it till it dies' and punishes defensive play. Oh, didn't reach the threshold? Cart. As these videos have proven, it is near impossible to not take at least a single cart from him if you're not using Elemental, and even if it is, it's most likely highly impractical
Before anyone says it's a skill issue on my part, as if that somehow invalidates the points and criticisms I made, I can consistently beat Alatreon. I could solo him under 8-10 mins no problem back when I still played regularly. From a game design standpoint, DPS checks just really aren't the best. Fatalis has none of that and yet he was the most intense fight I've had back when I first solo'd and beat him with no carts. I felt like I won through skill and determination, not cus I was using the right equipment
With Wilds releasing, I think Alatreon can actually fit better cus of the two weapons system. Make him switch modes midcombat and have his neutral dragon mode turn him vulnerable to raw. That'd be an actual engaging mechanic than meeting an arbitrary damage quota
@@ascended8174 got your point but still alatreon needed to be precise with your techniques rather than blast it all out till it dies. 2 conditions (elemental dps plus break horn) vs. 1 condition (break head) . alatreon feels like arena where it limits your power.

Given all mathematics says status is worst than element(you can still poison with poison bombs).
Still cannot understand some players make a huge fuss complaining about how unfair alatreon's escaton judgement, sure it's crazy but like bro you are literally fighting an elder dragon and not just your everyday elder but THE BLACK DRAGON!!! the pinnacle of monstrosity that can freely use all elements. I guess in the end these players just want to complain about the slightest inconvenience when his fight is already forgiving with many openings and very accurate hitboxes.
I heard there was some fuss back when he came out. I only recently got back into the game and fought him, and he was on fire element to start and my only Kulve weapon was fire. I made some rank 11 frost switch axe and after learning his mechanics I beat him, maybe my 6th or 7th try. But I always got the elemental damage check.
How do you play with it THAT zoomed out
yes it is much easier to play in zoom out.
It should take you like 5 to 6 minutes to kill him with elemental weapons (and I do it with an elemental Safi greatsword lol)😂…100% a skill issue

@@yuiNuj2013 WHY??? Half of the comments on here are like "show hp bar" "use default camera" "show this" like bruh it's my game I'll play how I enjoy. I'm on a big 4k monitor so zoomed in is way too cramped to enjoy.
@@seastilton7912 cause your tryin to prove something that is not practically same as other in camera settings. One of the reason for mhw is the camera works. zooming out will make this game easy.
