Matt loves sports but can’t stand hard work
I literally cried when Matt read his letter that was received from his mother. it seems to me that he really cares about his past actions and he knew exactly how bad he was hurting her. 😢😢
Matt is super introspective after he finally saw things clear. He’s a sweetheart ! I hope he stayed close with this Dad.
Of all the parents I absolutely loved these the most. No super restrictions, constant chores...just empathy and understanding
Them and the restaurant family with George and I forgot the brothers' name, the one who liked graffiti.
I think it's good that they don't just give their kids cellphones because many times kids are entitled brats thinking they deserve them when they don't!
This episode aired 15 May 2010. Now (January 2024), 15-year-old Lilly is ~28 years old, and 17-year-old Matt is ~30 years old. I so hope they are doing well. Deep thanks to the Ballard family.

He knows and understands his own kids, and kids in general, like no other parent I've seen thus far. And his level of patience, tolerance, and self control is what every parent strives for, but rarely obtains. The mom is great, as well.

I literally had tears in my eyes when Matt read his note, hearing his voice keep breaking in pain, him realizing what he’s put his mom through made me cry i just felt it I love this transformation

When Matt and Lilly walking around laps outside Rick just discovered that Matt has his phone in his hand texting while walking around that’s breaking the strict rules about it no cell phones and dad told Matt give me three phone or put it away and not only Matt arguing but he was also so upset and frustrated
I remember my mom would make us watch this show and say "see, if you ever misbehave, you will end up like them." It scared us so bad-

This is ridiculous”my 3 year old brother won’t pick up so my dad just says: you have two options: either you do it yourself/ I help you do it or you can sit in timeout for 3 minutes and then clean up your mess….either way your still gonna do it😂😂😂😂simple as that. He picks up toys…. I think some of these parents are just scared of saying no to their children so their children have never heard no and when it comes the time to say it….they just fly off the handle. Cause parents weren’t consistent enough and didn’t start early

Matt started off as an annoying crybaby but the awesome, caring dad was amazing and was great with Matt. That made me happy. They're some of the best parents I've seen on this show.

If they truly wanted to help these kids they would send their parents to parenting boot camp while they were away. They didn't get this way alone. Their parents allowed and encouraged this behavior from day one. Any changes made will not last because the cause of the problem had not changed. I really feel for the kids. As awful as they behave they were trained this way! All the fault does not lie with them.

What's wrong with the parents? The training of your children starts the day the born. Their characters are shaped by the time the 3 yrs of age. After that you need to guide them to be respectful responsible, productive citizen. Training starts at home.

The biggest issue I have with Lilly is that she doesn't look people in the eye when they are talking to her, or even when she talks to them, I don't trust that, it's like she's just playing mind games and she knows u will know it if she looks u in the eye.
The girls are almost always the more difficult in the shows. 😞
