I aint an expert on this kind of thing, but now that ive seen the full episode, i feel like jacob just needs therapy. Besides his dad leaving, the fact that hes as unemotional as he is makes me think he mightve been through some much more serious trauma at some point in his life. Pat and Holly are rockstar parents, role models, and mentors. You can tell that they really do care about these kids than many others had likely written off.
They're not bad kids at all, just addicts. I think they deserved therapy, cause I feel like they're kind of entitled to their opinions honestly, I feel like some parents can be pretty hypocritical. Them not being from those families specifically, makes me feel like they are being punished for acting out when they're acting out because of the environments they come from. But, lessons can be learned regardless, from where they came from and where they went. I think what I personally take from these is how important it is to have balance.
