  • A shortened version of a recurrent flight I had with Jake (not from State Farm) from HeliStar Aviation at John C. Tune Airport near Nashville Tennessee. We worked on some approaches, which were bad, some quick stops, autos and slope landings. I edited out dead space during flying where there was no talking or clearly didn't have anything to do with the lesson. Keep this in mind when viewing as some radio transmissions or weather briefs could have been omitted.
    I was pretty rusty after no flights for 7 months but a couple of each maneuver got me back into the swing of things.
    I appreciate you watching! Please comment and share to your hearts content and I hope this helps you with your flight training!
    Michael
    I fly with HeliStar Aviation. If you're in the Middle Tennessee area, check them out!!!

      Christopher Caschette Excellent! I don't get to fly the 44 as much as I'd like but still a great aircraft to fly!

    I have been following your flight career since you first shared your videos. I was surprised to see that you didn't keep current. I know it is expensive, & I found that out when I did a R-44.I need to hit the lottery so I can afford to fly!Thanks Michael for sharing, I love watching your videos!Kurt

      I appreciate you following along. The money certainly was a factor! I'm going to try my hardest to keep current and keep the videos coming !

      I thought you were flying for "HeliStar"?
      That is why I couldn't understand, how you were not current.
      Are the hours per month the same, 8 hours to keep current?
      Hell. I can't find my log book & that is keeping me from flying right now. I have a hour with the R44 that is not logged yet, I won't fly till I find that sucker...
      Michael. do what you need to do, if the costs are killing you, I understand! I still like how you have your camera setup to record all of the audio, that's is so great in your videos!
      Later,
      Kurt

      iflyhelis Thank Kurt. I fly "with" HeliStar but not for them. I just have the add on so no instructing or anything for them.
      Currency for a helicopter is the same as fixed wing: 3 take offs and landings within the past 90 days. The main difference is a helicopter requires that annual flight review. It's not a monthly hours thing. If I didn't fly for more than a month or two, I would go up with a CFI just to stay safe.

      Michael, you have given me info that I was not aware of, Thank-You. I was referring some old outdated info, so, 90 days is the limit... Yuk! It sure is expensive if you are not flying for a Co. As I type this I am hearing a med-flight going over my head. They are going to our local hospital as usual. Now that is where you need to apply your skills Michael.
      I think they require at least 1,000 hours for the to accept you for training. Much better than flying for the petroleum industry out of Louisana. I on "Usenet" which Comast no longer supplies, was in contact with a pilot that did that, (he is quite famous) his name was Nick, I can't remember his last name right now, but he is the head of research for Bell helicopters. He would tell me awful stories of the conditions down there. Terrible, 60 days on in a shack, & 60 days home. But that is how he got is hours in.
      Many people lost to weather/obstructions/errors.
      Try to find a Company that will take you on for training to get your CFI, then you can go somewhere.
      Good luck in your career.
      Kurt

    Your pilot in command, pull full carbheat & reset on approach (instructor won't be there). No power checks either dude !!

    • @MichaelCarrPilot
      @MichaelCarrPilot  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally would pull on carb heat myself.
      What do you mean about the power checks though - I did them and shouldn't have or didnt but should have? and which part?

    im currently doing my commercial training and after 7 months of you not flying I think you might be a little bit too hard on yourself. I only have 40 hours so what do I know but I thought your approaches and autos were pretty solid.. Well done!

    • @MichaelCarrPilot
      @MichaelCarrPilot  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I really need to get to my commercial. I could do some sight seeing things or something. I think this flight put me at just over 40 hours so I'm right there with ya!
      Thanks for watching !

    Was wanting to know if you have to be a pilot to get your 333 permit to be able to charge for flying your drone.Im turning down jobs

    • @MichaelCarrPilot
      @MichaelCarrPilot  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the FAA requires at least a sport license to operate commercial drone. Don't quote me on that though. They're always changing the regulations for commercial drone ops.
