  • In this flight: Autos, autos, autos!!!
New/What Did I Learn?: I need to watch that rotor RPM and keep my speed under control!
    Watch in 1080HD
If you've got the time, I've got the full length lesson videos!
This is flight 29 in my goal of a helicopter add-on rating in a Robinson R22 Beta helicopter at John C. Tune airport, KJWN, west of Nashville, TN at Helistar Aviation.
This is an unedited and and lightly cut video of the entire lesson of about an hour. No music. No editing. I hope you learn from what I do correctly and also from what I do incorrectly. Although these videos are long, I edit to what I feel is important during the flight. I belive the entire 22 min viewing time is worthwhile.
I fly with HeliStar Aviation. If you're in the Middle Tennessee area, check them out!!!

Nice video. I enjoyed that very much. I liked that you took out the boring parts. You are looking really good for 40 hours you have some real natural talent. 😎
    Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I realized after a while that sharing the entire video is just too much. Lots of small dead spaces that add up to shave off a lot of time from the entire video here.
Thanks for stopping by and the kind words .

Wow! You are really nailing it! Amazing improvement from your early videos. Is your checkride soon?

Thanks! Yeah check ride is soon. We were just getting the 3 hours within the last 60 days before checkride.

You seem to be afraid to really pull it back after the final flare. I can understand why. Try to use our ears to determine if the rpm is too high. I can tell because when you forget to bump up the collective, I can begin to hear the tail more. Seriously wish I could a PPH...

Tyler H , thanks for watching. Which part are you talking about, the full autorotations?

Yes, I know if I ever learn to fly helis. That final flare is going to be a little difficult. There's allot going on control wise during that flare. I saw how much you improved on your hover autos, very well done!

Tyler H It always took a while to remember that I need to we SKIDS level before even thinking about touching down. Those hover autos REALLY gave me issues though so thank you for noticing the improvements!

Not sure what video it was, he only had you do one, but it looked flawless. Good control on the yaw. How many hours do you have in the 22?

Tyler H , there's no telling. I can't keep all of them straight either. I have my good flying days and my bad ones. I like to fly on the bad days for a good challenge.
Currently, I'm at 42.3 (of course, who's counting?).
