Thank you for showing us to make salve. For my knee pain,I pick 4-5 leaves. Pound them to a rough past, lay it on a piece of plastic and put on my knee. Wrap cling wrap around and in to bed. The next morning take it off and wash the knee( brown color). i do that for 3 nights and the pain and inflammation is gone for weeks. Good luck with your hard work..
Hi Vickie, Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful salve. I have SO got to try making one of these one day!! And thank you SO MUCH for participating in this collaboration. You are such a doll and wonderful inspiration!! Love you, Mary
Thank you so much for inviting me to join in this collaboration! I had been planning on making this salve, but this encouraged me to move it up the priorities list. Love you! ❤️
Thank-you. Such a gentle, clear and relaxed sharing. Now I can make oil or salve for two friends, one with a torn shoulder bridge and another with a sore, slightly squashed knee. I hope the comfrey in my Australian winter garden will be enough! My hip could be happier with some also.
Combining Calendula with Comfrey is an awesome addition to a salve such as this... Although letting it sit for 4-6 weeks is optimal I also warm the oils in jars in my crockpot on low for 12 to 24 hours if I need to speed up the process. Thanks for reminding me I need to go do this again!
I understood that comfrey leaves can be irritating to the skin, so when I pick, I wear gloves. It’s the hairs, so when wiping best to use a cloth, just in case. I make comfrey tea, it really stinks but that tells you it’s good stuff. My plants love it! Going to get into doing beauty and care, I’m just collecting ideas and doing my research, as you say. Vicky, your so nice to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, it might be for some people, but I have no problems with it. As with any herbs I encourage everyone to approach it carefully. The comfrey tea for your garden is amazing stuff! This is one of my must haves in my home medical kit. Thank you for watching!
Thank you! You can also leave the oil & leaves in the jar and set the jar in water in the pan to gently heat through. Saves all that pouring. Your video is great - well done & thank you for sharing God-given wisdom❣️
Thanks so much Vickie for sharing this wonderful salve. Will definitely try to find the comfrey leaves and root to make some! Please share more salve and skin moisturizer recipes with us! Have a wonderful summer!
Wonderful natural salve, I have comfrey in my herbal garden, I'm going to do this soon, thank you so much, very good informative video, God Bless, xoxoxo
❤️. Probably going to try some tonight. Shana, my sister and I have been working on a homestead project all day. I am so sore! Love you, and God bless!
We have a nice size comfrey plant growing in our garden. I’ve never made this salve but as soon as I get the beeswax, I’ll be giving it a try. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hello Vickie, I agree that all the medicines we could need are here, we just don’t know about all of them yet. I love your Salve, what a beautiful colour it is, you’ve inspired me to grow comfrey and research it as well. It has been so lovely to be part of this collab with you, many blessings to you and your family. 💕😊
It is definitely worth looking into, and once you have it growing, you would have a hard time getting rid of it. But that wonderful tap root is what helps it to draw all of those healing powers to the surface. It is also wonderful for the garden. I hope you are able to grow it. I have enjoyed getting to know more about you and your channel. Blessings!
Vickie's Country Home it sounds like a good thing if it grows well, so it can be harvested, used and most probably shared with friends too. It will be interesting to see how it goes 😊
I am using comfrey salve on my fractured ankle. I do believe it’s literally “knitting” the bones together. Persistence in application and lots of rest and I see a big difference. God gives all good things, don’t let the greedy deny these blessings. School yourselves.❤️
Hi. Just found your channel. I love using Gods medicine. I am still learning and have made a few mistakes. I have purchased cimfrey root and leaves. I have purchased comfrey root to grow in my garden. Thanks for this recipe. ❤
This was very interesting Vicki. I haven't heard much about comfrey before. I told you before but boy would I love to have your stove!! Hugs to you. xoxo Deb :-)
I just started growing 7 comfrey plants last year, I'm giving them a couple full years to really get the deep root to bring up all the good nutrients them I'll be able to use my own plants, but I've been buying comfrey leaf and root from mountain rose herbs for quite a few years and I can't keep up with the requests from family and friends for my balm. I'm so glad other ppl have gotten to see your video as they truly are amazing plants and make amazing rubs. I've even had ppl with my balm see amazing results with terrible cases of eczema. But some ppl with eczema are very scared to get their hopes up and some won't even try it. Buy for those who have, what I've seen, is very happy ppl with huge amounts of relief. I use several other essential oils in mine on top of the same stuff you use in yours. But I originally made mine to help with carpal tunnel relief. I suggest anyone using comfrey, look up different essential oils that you can use to help with certain ailments and see how this balm can work for all of the different things. And a comfrey lead is great to have around with active, kids that are accident prone as they are called knitbone for a reason. They are supposed to have great healing power when used as a poultice on a broken bone. 😉💪
I’ll be grinding up my dried comfrey root and mixing it straight into coconut oil with calendula and essential oil. I’ll place the jar near our wood stove for several days 😊
Ms.Vickie I do believe our Heavenly Father put everything here on this earth that we may need, that is why I am here to learn more about herbs. I love this collaboration between the 8 of you. Are you able to use daily for joint relief?
I am so glad that you enjoyed it! Herbs of all types are so important, and many of the culinary herbs are also medicinal. I love learning about, and using them! Thank you so much for watching!
Hi May Vickie, I just subscribed to your channel because Ms Lori mentioned you many times. I enjoyed this video and will watch the others to catch up. I don’t comment a lot, but know that I’m watching.
Thanks for this video. I attempted this several months ago with freshly picked . tightly packed leaves. I did two strainings 3 weeks apart. Issue was...oil went bad and I haven't attempted since. I do like your way...I also like the fact that you dry the leaves first...One question...I wonder if I should GENTLY put the leaves in a cool water bath to ensure they are clean and before drying them? Lastly.. I am going to try this method. Can hardly wait.
I think drying the leaves is important, because oil and water don’t mix. Also use the freshest oil that you have, because it could still go rancid over time. This way works very well.
I have watched other creators use blenders or coffee grinders to turn the leaves into a powder before soaking in oils. Wondering if you’ve heard of this. Sorry if this sounds silly. I’m just learning about this now. Thank you for sharing. 🙏
You can do that, but it is harder to filter out. I prefer to not have particles of the herb left in oils or salves that could discolor or go bad over time. Leaving the dried herb in oil for at least 6 weeks will allow the beneficial properties to be absorbed.
Hi Vicki, what do you think about leaving the oil and leaves in the jar and putting it in a pot of water and warming it up that way? Then of course making sure the lid is on so water doesn’t get in. What do you think? Will that work just as well being careful not to overheat?
Yes, you can heat infuse the oil. I always have some on hand, so I don’t mind letting it cold infuse with time. Just be sure to keep the heat very low, and elevated from the bottom of the pan.
Great video. Comfrey is amazing. It is great to dry so you can use it for anything later on. Tea/infusions (yes I do) , salves, infused oils, tinctures.. wonderful healing herb. Also known as knit bone.. amazing they can actually send their magic right though the skin to broken bones, or sprains. This is a favorite for my geese. 👀 If I am not keeping my eye on them, they will- munch it right down.. So I have some behind a fence so they can't get to it (I hope) . I also planted some in front of my bees because the bees love the flowers. but what I didn't know is that they are actually eating it.. the leaves have big orange size areas missing from the leaves, that they are eating.. Yes, my honey had that taste to it.. (I thought) So I can imagine how special that honey is. And I find them chaining under the leaves... So they really like it. Makes some extra-It makes nice gifts.. Thanks for your great video :)
Yes, I dried a lot more leaves, and will harvest more soon. It is such an amazing plant, and that honey will be special. And yes, I do plan on making gifts of some of the salve. Thank you for watching!
This reminds me of the time Ma (Sophie) told the story about the village idiot putting the green salve, given to him for his ear pain, on his linguine. To no surprise, the pasta and salve dish was not a big hit when it was added to the menu at the local restaurant (linguine and green ear salve) until they renamed the salve to pesto. -golden girls.
I love comfort I had beautiful plants in !y garden but something happen and I lost them and I can not find any anywhere. Do you know where I can get some ? Thank you
I have found small starts at online sources (I think Azure Standard had one earlier this year) and also at local nurseries. You can also start them from seeds I believe.

I rolled my clean comfrey leaves loosely in paper towels and put the rolls into brown paper bags. They dried beautifully.😊

Yes mam God did provide everything we need.Food, Medical needs everything.
To dry my leaves, I put mine in my car. Gets hot enough to dry them very quickly in the hot summer.
Lol creative
Well said I believe God gives us everything it is just knowing how to find it and make it

I made a poultice of comfrey when I fell through the barn roof. It fixed me right up.
I went from a very tiny plant of comfrey last year, to 11 plants now as of this year. I'm very happy🥰🍃😍🌱
Wonderful!

I actually bought the seedlings from Azure Standard. They normally have these in the spring.
Thank you!
The leaves on mine must be more prickly. I could never rub them like that.
The roots when dry are quite hard.

If one used coconut oil instead of olive, would he or she still have to add the bee's wax/ ? The coconut oil would return to it's solid state .
That sounds like a wonderful idea!!
No you still need the beeswax, but maybe a lot less if you live in a colder climate. Here in Australia, coconut oil is liquid for a third of the year!
Can you use castor oil make salve?

I would check a local nursery, and if not, look online for plants or seeds.
Can you use dry comfrey to make salve
I believe dried is best. Fresh leaves/flowers have water content that could spoil.
Thanku Maybe you can even heat the bottle in a hot water pot
You could also do it that way. The idea is just to gently warm the oil to start the process.
If I don’t use the crockpot method and just let it sit there for 6 weeks, is the comfrey supposed to come out crumbly? Vs idk rubbish??
