oh no that goes to Melvin. Eddie and Otis didn't get along at all towards the ending of Eddie Kendricks tenure. But Eddie was extremely loyal. He was a true friend.
Paul deserves credit here as well he kept the peace a whole lot
i like 1960s and early 1970s lineups of temptations. david and dennis were good friends both sung together with eddie towards the end early 1990s it was kinda nice.

Otis could and can still sing I have been a Temptation fan since I was 6yrs old and I'm now 66 and never missed a show during the Motown review and after David was fired, still continued to go see their shows.So there you have it. Speak truth not what you think you know.

Neither David nor Otis could change the name of the group to David Ruffin and The Temptations simple because (1) David was not one of the Original Members on the day that the group signed the contract with Motown. As per Diana and Smokey who were original members of their respective group on signing...... (2) David did not seek to get released from His Solo Contract from Motown... A Contact Which he signed, LONG BEFORE The Temptations EVEN became a group. (3) He did not seek for Barry Gordy to sign him into the group with any stipulation of becoming an actual member.... As such, he was being paid as per his original solo contact which he had signed on the Label.... Therefore, Lawyers would be required to get him out of his original solo contact, only then could he negotiate with the four original members for him to become their lead singer..... All and all, I doubt the group would last longer than a day. Paul and Eddie, already felt pushed aside when David keep getting most of the good songs. Considering that they were the ones who sang at the audition for the group's acceptance to the Label, And with David erotic behavior at that point... In case you forget. Not only was David demanding preferential treatment. He was so stoned out on drugs most of the time that not only was he missing the group rehearsal. But he would turn up late for shows, even missing them all together. Promoters began to demand refund of their money from OTIS, whenever David was a no shows. Even though Paul would STEP UP, and sing David's songs, the fans and the promoters became angry and pissed at David for his lack of respect for them with his "no - show attitude", when ever the group was booked.....

The only thing you got wrong was that Otis could not sing. He carried the harmony, and it was him singing the high parts when Eddie was singing lead.
He has more than that wrong. This Roger fella did NOT write "I Wish It Would Rain" and "I Could Never Love Another." That was Barrett and Strong.
Actually Otis was a very good singer ..he really held that background together cause he could sing in many different keys pretty well ..as they all could ..but Otis really was the glue of the harmonies..
David never said that iconic line from the mini series… the actor added that in to piss off the actor who played Otis

The Temptations made David not the other way around.
His solo career was horrible.
He only had two major hits.

Woah listen don’t get it twisted Otis did have the least talent out of everyone but he could sing the only thing is he was more beneficial in the background.I feel if he had to vocal training to get his voice stronger he would be a good lead singer.Don’t send me away,open your heart.

Not everybody is meant to sing lead.
He was a founding member,
so he kept the group together,
which he is still doing today.
Keeping a group together for 61 years is much more important than singing lead.
Otis definitely could sing he sung lead on a couple of songs don’t ever get it twisted Otis wasn’t a Temptation for nothing

Otis COULD truly sing and he also had a pretty falsetto too and he was excellent in the background.

Eddie Kendricks is my favorite Temp. Even as my sister dated Melvin Franklin when I was about 5 or 6 when she was attending Northern High School in Detroit. Wait a minute that ain't quite right. I didn't become an Eddie Kendricks fan till' around 1967 when he sang lead on *_You're My Everything._* My friends and I used to go to this small restaurant and I remember playing the mess out of that song on the jukebox.
Years later I was looking through my sister's h.s. yearbook and saw an autographed picture of the Temptations when "Al" Bryant was still in the group. I asked her 'which one did I meet (he came over to the house once when we lived on Clay and Melrose in Detroit. The only thing I remember is looking up at him and saying "he's too tall for me") when I was little.'
(I believe I've posted that moment in my young life more than once so my apologies if you read it 2 or 3'xs before) She then pointed to Melvin who was sitting in the middle. She must have gotten that picture around 63', when she graduated, or before because I think Melvin had long since graduated from Northwestern High School.
Personally, I think the group should have been called *_Cornbread and The Temptations._* No? Ok I tried. LOL!

Tbh I don’t blame David for saying the group should be called David Ruffin and the temptations because after all he was the lead singer of group like Smokey Robinson was the lead singer of the miracles then changed the name to Smokey Robinson and the miracles and like the supremes and diana Ross was lead singer then they changed the name to Diana Ross and the supremes but I see why this wasn’t setting right with Otis and they said no because no man is bigger than the group and really that is true but David was on some BS

Plus,Otis,Eddie,Paul,and Melvin were the founding members.
David was not,
and he was a replacement.
So whatever they said went,
and they fired David.
