I bought 2 packs, 4 colours total. And in both packs 1 colour was much more pliable than the other. I thought it was designed that way but not sure now. I do love this stuff and bought it because I couldn't find Silly Putty.
For testing whether it dries out it would be best to flatten it first to allow for as much surface area as possible which may cause solvents to off gas at a higher rate.

You can do very fine modelling with plasticine. I remember as a kid making the Pied Piper playing a pipe with about 50 little mice (about 1/2" high) and actually winning a prize at a hobby fair. Probably the only prize I've ever won! But you couldn't do that with Play-Doh.
I played with plasticine back in 1992 , was usually cheaper than playdoh and last longer, pretty sure there's still some stuck somewhere in my parent's home.
I got the same package with the tools for $3.49 at Ross but I think mine, the texture is off because its like kinetic sand, I might have to add water though.
We had something like that here, called Oil Clay and they were made out of polymer clay and mineral oil, and they hardened by either cooking it in low heat (60°C) for few minutes or boiling it in water for few minutes. Now kids don't use that because of health concerns, and they act like chewing gum and sticks to the soles of the shoes and floor, also has nasty habit of welding onto rubber.
My nieces HATE the molding clay that doesn't dry because they can't dry and keep their creations. Play dough is really gross and useless after it's played with, so no problems with it "drying out"

Is this basically silly putty? What’s the difference between silly putty and this stuff?
Does the name "plasticine" mean anything to you? I played with that 50 years ago. Looks exactly the same, really. Never dries out.

Pretty sure it's just colored poster putty, sticky tac, whatever you wanna call it.
