Look at the Unified Team's First Goal. See the Unified Team use the Lively Board Conditions to have one Teammate Pass the Puck to Another Teammate Directly on the OTHER SIDE. One of the CREATIVE WAYS under Coach Viktor Tikhonov they would COMPENSATE FOR COVERAGE!
This one of the later games of the former soviet military style, ice hockey team. The russians were better conditioned, trained and coached with an iron fist.
Canada had some great former NCAA players: Dan Ratushny and Kent Manderville (Cornell), Curt Giles (Minnesota Duluth), Jason Woolley (Michigan State), Joe Juneau (RPI).
1:45:58 Announcers... also grossly erred with the comment regarding the Unified and Soviet teams' showing of emotion. In 1984 when they regained Olympic gold in Sarajevo they celebrated, and with gusto. I've seen both Tikhonov and before that, Tarasov heaved up and down by their jubilant apostles. How much more emotion could they possibly show?
I can't the believe the Unified Team got away with a lot of infractions in this game. The refereeing in this game seems to be one sided against Canada.
@butthetruth There used to be a webpage that had their entire record posted. Game by game from 1954 to 1991 I believe that the data showed that the Soviet Nats and Soviet Elite League teams against North American Nats teams and the NHL clubs and allstar teams had an overwhelming success with the final tally being approximately W154/L54/D12 I was blessed to have been invited to see and train alongside them for three weeks just before their change in government. Sergei Samsonov, Igor Viazmikin were on my line, and Sergei Krivakrasov's younger brother was my defensive partner. If by "Ironfist" you are referring to being in camp 6 to 7 months every year without being able to live in their own homes with family, I can understand that not everyone could endure that kind of discipline and commitment. Yes. Buy those were MEN, not some ol' punks cryin about being away from their wives and mothers... They were the best and that's what it took.

Its just not Team Canada in the 80s or 90s unless Sean Burke was in goal.
Viktor Tikhonov, the Russian coach that lost to the USA in 1980.
26:15 cant stop laughing at the commentator, apparently lindros takes the body but his hands, elbows and stick are high af.
