Don't really ever post comments but honestly the Mario 'non-assist' on the Kariya goal is my favourite moment ever from my favourite player ever. Not sure anyone else in the world makes that play in that spot.

you can really tell Richter froze for a second when he thought Lemieux was the recipient of the pass; but by the time he realized it wasn't Kariya already shot the puck and dove too late. What instincts Mario Lemieiux had........ amazing player. I always thought he was the best player in hockey not Gretzky.....

Iginla did not get nearly enough credit for this game. He scored twice and was involved in both of Sakic's goals. But he was always humble. What a player.

Yes... he had great calls for pretty much all the canadian teams, called the Cup Final in Canada for 28 years, but he did not had an iconic moment with the national team yet. After calling the heartbreak of the shootout in Nagano, he deserved that moment.

Bettman robbing us of watching McDavid and Crosby together on Team Canada. What a tournament this was hilited by Waynes press conference and of course finally winning the Gold medal. Mario's brilliance - does not need to touch the puck to influence the game (were you watching Wayne) ... would have enjoyed seeing what Mario would have accomplished with Mark, Yari, Glenn, Paul, etc ... he did not have or need a bodyguard - did not YAP then RUN AWAY ... played like a Super Star & won Stanley Cups wearing a huge "bullseye" ... saw him play 5 times - the "moves" in confined space while slashed/hooked/grabbed was something to behold !!!

    1) World Junior Championship
    2) World Championship
    3) Summit Series/Canada Cup/World Cup
    4) Stanley Cup
    5) Olympic Gold
    6) President's Trophy (NHL Regular Season Champion)
    7) Conn Smythe Trophy (NHL Playoff MVP)
    8) Hart Trophy (NHL MVP)
The closest is Jonathan Toews; who is only missing the Hart Trophy. Viacheslav Fetisov, Igor Larionov, and Patrice Bergeron have 6; all missing Conn Smythe and Hart trophies. Alexander Ovechkin also has 6, missing Olympic Gold and SS/CC/WC.

The 2 players with the most 100 pt seasons are Gretzky and Lemieux, not surprisingly, next in the list is Dionne with 8 and he did that playing his entire career on mediocre teams, the most Iginla ever got was 98, true, Dionne played in a higher scoring era but Thornton scored over 100 three times while playing in the same era as Iginla.
