This video is sooo helpful! I have co-slept and nursed to sleep my 17-month-old daughter since she was born, and she slept pretty badly for the past year (waking up every 2 hours!) I reached my breaking point when I came across your video, and there were a lot of tips that I hadn't heard before which made a lot of sense (particularly the part about communicating with your toddler about what we are going to be doing and giving them a lot of praise - which sounds so obvious). I am on day 6 of following your tips, and we have seen great progress (last night she went to bed with no boob or tears and only woke up twice, going back to sleep with just me gently singing). Thank you so much! You are a life saver!
I coslept and extend breastfed all 4 of my boys but this 4th baby is something else! I need all the help with him. He's so aggressive and throws tantrums. I'm somewhat scared to start night weaning but I really need to because he does not stay asleep long without me. After 18 months of him being on me constantly this video gives me hope!

I've only been nursing my 18 month old baby boy at night but I'm ready to end nursing all together. We've had a couple of very difficult and emotional nights already. With my last baby (She's 8 now) I rubbed some very un tasty essential oils on my nipples which I knew were safe to consume and she made the decision after not liking the taste of my breast but after trying it with my current baby. He wiped his tongue and still continued to try to nurse.

My toddler turns 3 in a few days and I’m finally putting my foot down and saying NO to her night feedings. We have co-slept her whole life basically and while I don’t mind her cuddles at night, I would love for her to sleep through the night without waking me up for booby. I had a little talk with her about saying bye-bye to “lechitas” and that we need to save some for the little babies in the world. And after that, I am not letting her feed at all day/night. I feel terrible but I feel like slowly weaning will not work for us. 💔

My daughter has just turned 1 year. She wakes constantly through out the night and is always attached to the boob. Our second baby is due within 2 months and I plan to breastfeed and co-sleep both babies. I want to have my daughter sleeping better before the new little one arrives. I might be able to put some of these tips into practice. Any advice on tandem breastfeeding and co-sleeping?
Hi, If your daughter is growing, eating and gaining weight well- at 12 months old she can be night weaned. So you can continue to co-sleep, but not necessarily feed her all night long. I recommend you do this before your new baby arrives. You'll be up every few hours feeding your newborn. You don't want to also be woken by your toddler!
Hi Kayleen, We have a guide for weaning night feedings here: www.babysleepmadesimple.com/weaning-night-feedings/ This guide doesn't cover co-sleeping, and honestly that can be harder with a 1 year-old, so if you're open to it, I highly recommend you transition your toddler to the crib AND night wean. Hello! This is a great question. Toddlers definitely understand cause and effect, so if he starts screaming (for disappointment reasons), and then you let him have what he wants, he will continue to scream to get the same thing. It is 100% normal for toddlers to have some BIG emotions. It is so challenging for them, and definitely exhausting for us parents. The best thing we can do is help them learn to understand and process big emotions, and use helpful strategies to get them to sleep well independently.
