    Magnifico!

    Great performance of one of TWENTY great "tunes" from Andrea a Chenier. The opera that
    the snobbish opera critics dislike intensely . You see the uneducated ,unwashed general public love Chenier .
    The singers love it. Puccini was mightily impressed when seeing an early performance in 1896 . So much so
    that He composed TOSCA in a similar vein . Especially the Gerard -Madelaine confrontation . With the Scarpia _tosca blow up..
    We just saw Enkhbat as Gerard at Covent Garden. In a stellar performance from the whole cast. This is the opera I
    would encourage to see first time visit to the opera.

      @@Yves_Ka not quite the dumbest comment. It depends if the mic was only set for recording or for amplification.

      I heard him as Rigoletto in a small theatre. His voice is actually big and rich, with a warm, homogeneous timbre

      In a small theater and they amplify and or mic these voices.

    • @SilverSingingMethod
      @SilverSingingMethod 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wish I was, but absolutely not. They mic people and enhance them all the time; admittedly. The public seems blissfully unaware. Even so, he is nowhere near the great voices of the past. Opera should blow us away not just sound nice.

    • @liricamente7549
      @liricamente7549  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I doubt that traditional, renowned opera theaters such as the Regio di Parma, where I heard him sing Rigoletto, uses mics and amps.. not only because the acoustic is so good that you can hear a pin drop, but also because their public is fully aware of the difference between a natural sound and an enhanced one.
