Do you not mind the thick poly on the back of the neck? It’s the only thing I’m worried about. Everything else looks good on the 50’s Classic Vibe. Good split post tuners, Fender Alnico pickups, Bone nut, C-Shape Neck with 9.5” radius, 3 Classic barrel bridge saddles, string through body and ashtray style Fender bridge pickup plate. I wonder if it’s not hard to sand down the lacquer in back of neck because I really like the bones of this guitar. All I might upgrade is bridge saddles with compensated brass 3 barrel saddles, better output Jack, pots and cloth wiring, maybe different pickups (Seymour Duncan Hot Rails), file down nut slots and level/crown/polish frets and round over fingerboard edges for worn in comfortable feeling neck. Could be a hell of a guitar for not a lot invested, especially if you make the upgrades one at a time instead of spending all at once. I would love to see how it turns out after that.

Got an insane deal on the butterscotch blonde Classic Vibe ($249 Labor Day blowout sale two years ago), by far the best bang for buck guitar I've ever bought. I'd put it up against the Fender Player series any time. A few caveats. The pine body is a bit heavy, and the gloss neck might not be for everyone, but hey, if you can't spare the ten minutes it takes to rough it up with a little sandpaper, that's on you.

I own two of these, and regret selling the third one. The tuners just are fine. As good as my Fender ones. This is the most bang for your money on a Tele and pretty close to the original (I've played a genuine '54). The biggest differences are that the Squier is heavy (3.8-4.2 kg) and the original feels rougher to the touch because of the nitro getting worn exposing the wood. Poly will last 750 million years before showing any wear so the Squier will feel like new forever. I like that, even though I also have a Tele that briefly caught fire during a concert :)

Thats the only mode l made...One point though, the chrome isn't very good ,it soon degrades and goes dull. overall though this is a very good Guitar Well worth the money... l believe it cost about €260 at the time...

I'm surprised at the lack of cavity shielding. The previous ones made in china had shielding paint. My current indonesian tele buzzes quite a lot more than any of my other guitars, all with single coils.

This seems to be a common problem with many guitars made in China and Indonesia. The exception is Yamahas made in Indonesia, which have excellent shielding (some of the best I have seen anywhere). Perhaps they are the exception that proves the rule?

Is it me but every CV I play the .10 strings I use feel tighter and the instruments sound thinner sounding than Mex or USA made fenders. The necks are on the very thin side too and I prefer thicker necks.
I sold all my Squiers and only kept the Custom Esquire because it looks so beautiful. It’s still on the bottom rung for playability out of all the Fenders I own which are MIM/USA. Amazing guitars for beginners and as back up, but they’re not as good as MIM and definitely nowhere near USA. Anyone that says they’re better than MIM/USA is bluffing.
