I've started reciting some of Kitty's lines to scam callers as they try to get me to reveal personal information. And then if they persist, I cut in with a loud "where are those parsnip baps Morag?"
There is something exquisite about it. She acknowledges the audience response, but not really its laughter. "I tapped her cleavage with a pastry fork": So funny!
exactly, I always notice that when I watch these, she never pauses the character as it were, she just naturally weaves in bits of character work to leave space for the audience to laugh. it's masterful
Utterly unique and gloriously funny. Those were the days when humour was funny in the hands of real artistes and not a f**k in sight to prop up a lack of talent.
"all this loud enough to blow the froth off a Horlicks two tables away". Victoria is a legend, she never failed to make me laugh until it hurt. Patricia is a living legend. She can deliver like no one else.
When you get a mix of possibly the greatest comedy writer to come from these shores, with possibly the greatest comedic actress......you get this.....perfection.
Victoria Wood's words delivered - impeccably - by Dame Patricia Routledge. Sheer comedy perfection. I've lost count of the times I've seen this sketch and each time I'm left helpless with laughter. "All this in a voice loud enough to blow the froth off a Horlicks two tables away" 😂😂😂
As talented as Patricia is, I can't help but think of Hyacinth Bucket every time I see and hear her lol 😅😆😅😆 Victoria's scripts are genius. She turns the ordinary into extraordinary and laugh out loud. Gosh, they don't make comedy like they used to. 💔
Truly Truly fantastic what a talented Lady Dame Patricia Routledge is. My all time favourite Performance just has to be her appearance in steptoe & son. Pure brilliance. 🌹
I have always loved Britcoms, although my access has been limited. This entertainment is a joyous discovery. Patricia Routledge is so familiar to me from her Hyacinth role. Now I can enjoy a more full range of her extraordinary talents. Thank you for sharing. I am sure I'll watch over and over.😀
"I speak as I find" - I met a few like that while I was up North! Kitty, the appalling Continuity Announcer, Acorn Antiques (Kenny Ireland sadly no longer with us either); all brilliant and original creations. Victoria, we're going to miss you!
But wer`e spunky in Cheadle, we totter on! I was genuinely CRYING with laughter - 100% top class. Brilliant stuff thanks to the tallents of Routledge & Wood.
She is just indescribably brilliant. And with a giant nod to the writers. Writing for someone like her would make me get down on my knees and thank God daily.
@@simonjones7727 Incredibly interesting person who lived a fascinating life and is a great storyteller. Yes very private and rightly so. Don't hear much from her nowadays.
@@decodolly1535 Well I obviously don't expect expect her to be actively working nowadays but it would be nice to hear from her in some form whether it be interview or whatever. Before it's too late. She does not get enough credit. When you think of great British actors/comic actors, Patricia Routledge is not a standout name, not one that gets credit or attention compared to others.
Genius it will be sad day when she leaves us . Dame Patricia I don't believe has been given the recognition she deserves in her long distinguished career in film & television .
«"Dear Kitty, my boyfriend and I used to make love at least twice a night but now it has dropped off..." Well I'm not surprised!» 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 that line made me die
Just the thing to "get friggin'" in. Have you thought of finishing off the look with a pair of slingbacks, an electric potato peeler and a pedestal mat worn as an amusing mini-poncho? And, yes, showerproof too!
She Pat did a Short Alan Bennet play about a lady dying of cancer at the start an angry women in the hospital then less and less so,a sublime human performance by her great self

That’s brilliant. I’m having that
I find starting to tell them about walking the Pennine Way in slingbacks for mental health gets rid pretty quick 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I find raising the volume on my asthmatic cough does wonders. Ruptured eardrums anyone?
Nearly bust a gut laughing😂
“I’ve had my share of gynocalical gyp, but we’re spunky in cheadel, we totter on!”
Victoria Woods script. Brought to life by Patricia Routledge. Perfection.
A masterclass in how to pause for laughter without actually pausing. Brilliant actress!

Written by Victoria Wood, acted by Patricia Routledge. Was there ever a better female pairing? Perfect.

As achingly funny now as it was back in '85. RIP VW x
Victoria's scripts and Patricia's unbelievable comic timing. Match made in heaven

The very best delivery.

Brilliantly acted and wonderfully written by Victoria Wood. "Do dogs go to heaven, hello Catherine, no they don't!!"

Victoria Wood and Patricia Routledge are amazingly talented women who were gifted in many ways. Even over here in the U.S. we love them both.
And Mollie Sugden!
They don't make them like they used to sadly

Patricia Routledge and Victoria Wood. Genius.

That made me howl !!!
I remember my mum's old mangle. It was the highlight of my Monday lunchtime to help her with the mangling....
Genius 😂❤️
The writing is exquisite.

Thing is, Kitty says out loud what the English are too polite to put into words. That's why she's so hysterically funny.
The best there ever was.. Dame Patricia
Patricia Routledge is simply the one and only British comedic genius (with the exception of Victoria Wood and Julie Walters, perhaps).
