I was six when these brave men died on hunger strike. I understood even then that they were dying for ALL of us, for their comrades in Long Kesh, and for the Freedom of our people. Unlike the petty unionists who may come here to mock - we Irish have always understood the meaning of the word Sacrifice. Our volunteers hearts and souls are stronger than the entire british empire in its heyday. As Padraig Pearse wrote, “My sons were faithful and they fought.” They used every weapon they had - even their own bodies. Meanwhile Thatcher’s soul was pure Evil. It ate her from the inside out, reduced her to a drooling mess and - god willing - landed her in Hell where she belongs.
I was also only a young child but to this day I still feel a sadness like it was family members that died .My dad is now 80 and we still talk about it .They will live forever in the hearts of Irish people .🇮🇪
Brilliant. Men every one u I was standing at the top of lesson with an ringer rifle 10 great died I fired 1000 rounds from the first hunger striker to the very last and got life into H blocks u and the men were good men 30 years ago but u all played ur part
