I’m pushing 70 and I love my cowboy boots and jeans jacket and all the compliments I get when I wear them! However, I don’t think it’s the clothes, rather it’s the happiness I express when I wear the things I love.
I just turned seventy and I find I get compliments when I wear whatever makes me feel good because I think you have more confidence . As long as it fits you right and is flattering to your body go for it.
i'm going to be 66 next week and i love my doc martens. i change up the shoelaces and throw a crystal ankle bracelet with a charm on one. and at the beginning of the pandemic, i decided to stop dying my hair but didn't want to cut it off, so i'm growing it out and i'm loving the process. it's just who i am! i love women who own their style. i'm proud to be one of them!
I am SO with you on the "age appropriate" debate and tired of people saying what you should or shouldn't wear, based on your age. I am 75 and I know what looks good on me and what doesn't!! There is no age limit to great style 💖

I wear whatever I want as long it suits my menopausic body!! 😆 I wear long hair, I love bold make up, I wear red and brigh fucksia lipstick, Bold earrings, I wear jeans and trainers and leather jackets..life is short and I pay my bills..I ran away of ridiculousness..but I really don't care what others think about what a woman of my age should do, act, be, look..let's break the stigma..much love from Portugal!!! 😘😘
I was recently looking at pictures ofc my grandmother and great grandmother from the 1970s. They look 20 years older than what they actually were. I’m 44 now and my grandmother was on her late 30s in the pics. I look so much younger now than she did. It was their hair, clothes, makeup, and eye wear that aged them so, so much. I can’t imagine just saying “Oh well, I’ll “old” now so don’t need to look good”. 🙄
@@anaguerra7337 well I'm 70 and the only thing I steer clear of are high heels and mini skirts and hair below my shoulders! My biggest annoyance is swimwear. I've never owned a swimsuit. What's the difference whether you show your midriff or not! The best way to keep enjoying fashion is to maintain your weight as you get older.
I'm 50 and still wearing short skirts, as I keep my slim figure. I didn't cut my hair, but changed the color to look more light, soft, and natural. I'm definitely not wearing girly things, black things, and I'm very carefull about the colors - wearing more bright and light colors and smaller prints. The body is changing, we have to find the balance of course, but finding your best colors is very very important - life changing. I keep my eye on trends but yeat I have my own style.. here and there I incorporate something trendy... mix it with my style.

Yea I realized that after turning 30. Until then, I believed I had to dress in a certain way when you are over 30, 40 or 50. But no! Just wear what fits you best. You wanna wear a mini skirt? Go for it! You wanna wear a baby pink sweater? Hell yea! Wear it!! Just smile at whoever tries to tell you you can’t wear x, y and z because you decide what you wear and not them!
... I have been dressing up with nowhere to go! I honestly don't care... I want to enjoy my wardrobe so even if it's to the grocery store... So be it! LOL! #unapologetic

Heck what’s the point of buying and not ever wearing them.... by the time lock down is down some people are gonna realize that none of the clothes fit because they’ve be comfortable all through out in sweats . at 61 i actually do appreciate what to wear for my age tips. cuz, i can clearly see that what i used to wear no longer suits me, and i appreciate the age appropriate suggestions. otherwise i'd look like a fool. and i also defend the rights of others to wear what they want, when they want. In my case, I can get away with wearing crop tops when I’m already 47 because I’m petite and I look like I’m only 27.Lol It’s genetics. When I was in high school, I used to be insecure about looking too young because kids used to tease me about being an elementary school kid getting lost in a high school. Now that I’m older, I appreciate looking way younger than I am.Lol

While I do appreciate fashion, I believe in having a classic wardrobe, these days I now find longer Lenght more appropriate for wear

So agree with you about matching shoes & bag or accessories! It is so american! In France it's almost a fashion faux pas like you are trying to hard. For me it's just a lake of imagination but there's no rule cause sometimes it works! Here's my trick concerning heels: I always make sure to have a flat & or a sneaker version for the same outfit so I feel more confident & wear them more often knowing I can change into something else that looks as good.
Thanks for the reminder about my toes. It has been over a year since my last pedicure. Ha! I need to get on that before it warms up enough for open toe shoes.

I am so glad that you mentioned man-made materials. Folks make me begin to sweat watching them in those hot polyester tops and dresses in the spring and summer 😞.
My biggest spring mistake is forgetting to layer --- including an intentional oversized tote to carry items I remove enroute due to weather changes. Scarves, scarves, scarves to go from neck to waist or tote handle. I like to have several choices of raincoat, and umbrella or rain hat so the total outfit makes sense. There is something about spring that makes me feel like tieing a scarf under my chin with oversized sunglasses.

So agree with you about matching shoes & bag or accessories! It is so american! In France it's almost a fashion faux pas like you are trying to hard. For me it's just a lake of imagination but there's no rule cause sometimes it works!
Here's my trick concerning heels: I always make sure to have a flat & or a sneaker version for the same outfit so I feel more confident & wear them more often knowing I can change into something else that looks as good.

Very Fun and Great Advice! I totally agree on most , especially floral prints. I bought zebra, paisley and polka dots for spring.
My biggest spring mistake is forgetting to layer --- including an intentional oversized tote to carry items I remove enroute due to weather changes. Scarves, scarves, scarves to go from neck to waist or tote handle. I like to have several choices of raincoat, and umbrella or rain hat so the total outfit makes sense. There is something about spring that makes me feel like tieing a scarf under my chin with oversized sunglasses.
