  • The R model Mack project is moving along nicely. In this video I get the hood, bumper, and radiator pulled off of truck 17 in order to get the final piece of the steering axle puzzle, which is the front leaf spring brackets.
If you enjoy the video, please give it a like.
Comments are encouraged. I read all of them and I love to hear about your personal experiences with Mack trucks.
Please consider subscribing to my channel to follow along with the truck 17 project as well as my farming content.
Thank you all for watching! Have A good one!

Excellent progress! Boy that oil field bumper just screams abuse and damage since oil field trucks are generally just beat to death, there are a lot of great original chrome options to it. That’s just me lol My old R’s and RD’s that had ac were nice, but there are plenty of vents on the cab along with a passenger side window and if you’re moving they work just fine, plus you could sell the AC parts if you wanted to help fund the effort. Great to see it moving along, thanks for sharing!

Every dent on that bumper tells a story. I'm sure most of those stories involve a bulldozer lol. Thanks for watching!

Happy New Year bud! Nice to see some progress being done to the old rig. You're moving along at a nice pace.
Word of advice, if you have not done so already, make sure you plug, seal or cover any openings to the cooling and air intake systems. You don't want any small critters taking residency in there and plugging things up when it's time to put it back together and hosing down the whole thing! Stay safe and busy at it.

Thanks! Good idea. The openings on the engine are plugged off, the radiator and charged air cooler will be getting sent out to be boiled and pressure checked. Thanks for watching!

Great effort today, glad you have that bumper off.... are you going to try and get an original bumper ??, love the little photo album at the end with the Q marks.... twin headlights like the Australian and New Zealand Macks, I think it was an option offered from about 1976 onwards that everyone took up.... hot even in winter without an air conditioner 🥵🥵🤣🤣 is my memory of driving an R series....., thanks for the video, loved it 👌

The oilfield bumper will be going back on the truck. Eventually it will be getting its winch and tail roller back as well. Thanks. I thought it was a neat little look at the progress thus far. Thanks for watching!
