Awesome take Conner on the sealed collector side aspect of things getting graded should not be tampered with, especially as a professional grader should not have to unseal an item to devalue the item in possession.👌🏾💯
If it actually had the Pioneer watermark found at the bottom of the VHS, I would have asked to receive it back untouched. It's not uncommon for one grading company to deem something fake while another says it's real (I would get a second opinion). Also, if they weren't able to authenticate it without opening it what's the point of using their service?
It did have the watermark, but it was low value so I wanted to see how it would play out...for science! lol...and yeah man, that is why i will not be sending to them again! additional risk i did not anticipate
We are feeling your frustration, as we received almost the exact same email from Beckett over two VHS tapes that were sent in. Your situation is slightly worse, but we both have parallel stories.
@@RocPokemon seeing as how one of the tapes was produced in 2022 and purchased directly from the website I told them to keep investigating. The other tape I was 90% sure it was authentic, and it turns out it is. (according to them via phone call) No tapes back from them yet, they requested more time apart from my 45 business day period. Depending on the grades of both...that will ultimately determine any VHS sent to Beckett in the future.
“You paid for our expertise in both previously viewed and sealed” … Then why didn’t they know this was a real seal 🥴 Great video though. Gorgeous case but I feel you’re disappointment in the overall experience is valid.
I cannot believe they call themselves professionals. They should have used a razor blade and only cut the very bottom to leave the seal around 95% of the rest of the cassette. I was blown away watching them man handle it with a friggin hawk bill pocket knife. I'm a huge VHS collector with super rare star wars pieces in my collection, like the first rental versions on both VHS and Betamax, and many more. I am not a fan of VHS grading. I wouldnt let tapes like that out of my sight. I MIGHT get my super valuable ones done just to protect them w qell and because tapes like those are not going down in value. I cannot believe they even offer to open your tape. I've heard first hand stories of people getting back different or damaged items back inside cases. They complain and get an apology, that's it. I'm so against VHS grading and have over 2000 easily. I'm really sorry you had this experience. At least it wasmt with a super rare or valuable tape. 😢
I really appreciate the thoughtful comment. All in all yes, it is lucky that it was a low value tape and it was a learning experience! Very cool to hear about your collection i would love to see pics!
Enjoyed the video bro. Super interesting. I would definitely have mixed feelings as well. Also, I’m not sure I understand their thinking with their VHS label. I know they rebranded last year, but this label just looks so different from their silver/gold card labels… I dunno, the lack of consistency just bugs me.
I would have asked for the sealed tape back and sent it to IGS. I just sent my first order of 3 tapes to them and they authenticated the seals on all 3 of mine and graded them, been only about a month and a half, so the time is a lot better now, just waiting now to see what grades I got. Only issue I have with the process is they put the order online but you can’t track it like the card orders. That doesn’t make sense to me if they can do it with cards why not with the VHS.
That dude was really struggling with the knife to open that lol. Sucks that they couldn’t authenticate it, not sure what their criteria would even be for determining if it is the original seal.
Verrry interesting video man! I've been sourcing VHSs for the last year and half. This is my next venture in grading. Appreciate your insights and the video! ✌️
You ever see the pokemon vhs's that come with a booster pack? Ive seen them on ebay, sealed that came witg a ruby and saphire and another with neo genisis. I always thought itd be extremly rare and awesome to buy one and have it graded, itd be one of a kind.
to quote you As always - collect what you love, but do it intelligently! it seems like you didnt bother looking up other sealed copies or graded copies for those water marks lol now you know :)

100000%! Thanks for watching!
How does a seal that tight and clean look like reseal? Crazy.
I know. Wild.
Bro they took a knife to it?!
lol ya…wild
As far as I'm concerned if they can't figure out if it's the original seal or not then they don't know what they're doing.
Agreed!
Painful to watch that dude cut it open, I would be super irritated too
so painful

@@primewrestlingnetwork well then it seems they wont have to open yours which is a win!
@@RocPokemon that is why I am saying your story is slightly worse. I would have never let them open anything from sealed.
@@primewrestlingnetwork yeah...at the end of the day, not a big deal at all in terms of $$, more the principle of it all...
Definitely a rough experience, but I appreciate you sharing all the details so we can learn with you. Also, a pleasure meeting you at Collect-O-Con!
Most definitely! Great meeting ya!
"Hey Chris I need to shoot a video of you opening this VHS... Oh perfect you already have your pocket knife"
👍😂

😂😂😂exactly…thanks bro. Yeah definitely not my ideal experience!

Thank you! And yeah I think the label is like a qualifier label thus the odd color
Sorry this happened, but thank you for sharing your experience!
Of course!

That’s awesome ! Good luck with the grading bro!
That’s rough, I hope the process gets better. I like the display-ability like you said but this process is a potential headache
yeah, definitely makes me think twice about doing it again...cases are beautiful though!
What's the story with that framed shiny Gyarados picture! That's awesome! Also, sorry to hear about that man. Maybe CGC will be a better option now.
ill try to remember the artist and link it!

Volume on this is crazy low. Just a friendly heads up :)
I’ll take a look cheers! Thanks for watching
DO THEY GRADE USE VHS ?? OR ONLY SEALED ONES??
THEY GRADE CIB AS WELL!
@@RocPokemon thank you 👍👍
It's the thumbs up at the end of the clip from BGS lol sorry man! VHS DNA is the play i guess.
😂😂😂😂😂
pokemon vhs have white orion water marks , which would be located in the back of the tape or at the bottom of the tape on the seal
Yes. It had them. And as you can see it was a real tape :)
And actually it is pioneer
to quote you As always - collect what you love, but do it intelligently! it seems like you didnt bother looking up other sealed copies or graded copies for those water marks lol now you know :)
I did indeed and it had them. That’s why I submitted it :)
@@RocPokemon wow , so straight up screw job , vga is solid and igs grades abit more lenient so there are other outlets on the bright side
