Hiya Burville: How the hell are ya? Very cool! Wasn't sure whether or not it would be of any use to repost this series. And K-31's don't change so. And even if you were the only person in the whole world that would want to see it ............ I would still post it, just for you😁 This goes from what you see in this to the range test. Part 2 coming soon.
      pssssst ........... not a Schmidt ........... shhhhh

You need to write a book titled,,, "Where did all the quality go"? in reference to what is produced today.

Hi Dave! Subtitle "out the wondow". Few things in this world operate as advertised, the K-31 is one of those things.

How are you doing, Brother? That’s in beautiful shape for a 60-70 year old rifle, mine has been used much more than that one. Your observations are a little amusing. Now you need to contact the St. Marie family for their fantastic diopter & globe sight sets. I would say that YOU🫵🏼are lucky to have found this rifle, as opposed to the rifle itself being "lucky" to have been found by you…but it’s just a matter of perspective. I would love to find out what the opposite of an "original" rifle is! Please, elaborate? Thanks for the video.

Hey Frew: Well, considering I have found and restored dozens of such K-31's I still contend it was lucky to me find. Original , to me means it is as it was when it was first built and allowed into military service. Not an arsenal rebuild, not a forced-match bolt sleeve or bolt, completely numbers matching with the troop tag under the butt plate. When I say original that's what I means.

I’m a subscriber, and have already asked a couple of questions that seemed to irritate you🙄👆🏼, which was NOT my intention. I have been a fan of both the Schmidt Rubin made rifles and the Waffenfabrik Bern K31s. The reason I asked you what you consider an "Original Gun/Rifle" is because, (in Canada), we describe what you call an "Original Rifle/Gun" as being a "numbers matching", untouched example. I have a numbers matching K31-also stamped 1943-which you probably wouldn’t like because it’s in its original finish and will be for as long as it’s mine. There are plenty of dings & marks on the stock but did come with the original sling. The only parts on my rifle that aren’t #’s matching being the (Ste. Marie) Diopter/Global sites and the (K31) bayonet w/frog, sold as a matched set…just not #’s that match my rifle, but it is a complete (numbers matching/"original") rifle. Is it worth LESS because of its marked, dented but chip-free stock?

Hi Frufru: How goes it? Well, not really irritated. You can tell because I didn't call you any bad names or anything like that 😉 Honestly I'm typing and my brain is cooking to get my thoughts out so I apologize it it comes out a bit too direct at times. So no harm, no foul. However, I've never met a K31 I didn't like. And yours would be no exception. I simply am making observations to help delineate the path they take before they luckily end up in my hands. Even a totally mismatched K31 will still most likely out shoot just about anything else. The St. Marie diopters are the way to go. Using the diopters is really the only way to even begin to wring out the potential of the K31. I appreciate you recognize the fact that K31's are not Schmidt Ruben. When in reality they are made by Sig at Bern. I would say the only other wooden stocked, standard issue mil-spec rifle that could play with the K31 on a level field is the Swede M96/M48's. Ironically, my two remaining K31's are both Private Series and untouched and completely original. Nevertheless, if you were to lay hands on one of my resto K31's you would say WOW! If you go to Gun Broker and find my old feedback on K31's I sold you would see what I mean. Ok man, I'm out. Have a great day my K31 brother of anotha mutha.

@@lencac7952 WOW!😮 That’s some seriously impressive feedback, lencac, thanks for sharing your messages with me. I think I’ve seen one video in which you showed that it was a limited edition/very special K31 that you were sharing with your audience. There’s no doubt, you certainly resurrect these well worn examples & return them to what I’d have in "Solitary Confinement", (to avoid getting nicked by any other rifle). All the best to you.
