- A video uploaded to social media shows the lava flow engulfing a parked car on the streets of Puna, Hawaii. Kīlauea volcano has destroyed 26 homes and forced 1,700 people to leave their residences since it erupted on Thursday, spewing lava and toxic gas. So far no fatalities or major injuries have been reported

Omg, this is so fascinating, I could watch for hours. Mother nature showing us it's still around and we are nothing in it's path.
I tried to say the same thing about climate change. We can’t stop it. It’s inevitable. The only thing we can do it slow it down. But it’s still gonna happen. Just like the ice age. The Earth goes through natural climate changes throughout thousands of years. This isn’t anything new

I think this is on the island of hawai’i where there are a lot of active volcanoes but on other islands most of the volcanoes are dormant or dead

A lady who was displaced by the lava flow told me while I was having dinner at Huggo's in Kona that Lloyd's would not cover property evacuated in order to escape the lava flow. I wouldn't know. She also ate my Prime Rib while I used the Men's Room. I gave the bar tender a $20 to let her finish my dinner with a glass of wine, then I left to go back to my home in Holualoa. The county is being better about land scammers around the lava flows now, too late ... . Hawaii is a scammers paradise. Terrible and unenforced laws, lax law enforcement, island mentality. Beware.

It was already moving pretty slowly and was probably pretty cooled down by that point (compared to when it came out, anyway) so it couldn't have gone too much further before it started solidifying

@Max Rodwell I understand what you mean, it would be great if nature could be more selective in what it destroys. Like the houses of the people who create such horrible industries, factories etc, with little or absolutely no regard for environmental damage. But unfortunately nature doesn't work that way. Imagine what archeologists are going to say when they did all this stuff up in a thousand years.
The people in 2018 rode around in primitive cars. They sat on seats and used their feet to make it go. You can see that in springs that’s are left and that there is a hole in the floor.
If only it was still there but it literally boiled it up. The car doesn’t exist anymore.
im pretty sure the car is just completely charred though, probably impossible to recognize. the lava is obviously super hot but it also piled on top of the car, which applies even more pressure and deforms it

Not any moment, volcanos take a lot of time in between eruptions. I’d say your house is probably more likely to go at any moment from either a tornado or an earthquake

I live about 5 minutes from Leilani Estates. The day b4 the eruption I was working all throughout the subdivision. It was EARILY spooky as every few minutes you could hear rumbling and feel the earth shake right below you. I knew at any moment the ground could open up. The next day I was working in another subdivision about 10 miles away when my boss called me and told me to get back to the office. When I asked why he said ‘we have lava on the ground”. Those words will forever be embedded. For those of us that live on the Big Island, that’s something you NEVER want to hear. Fast forward for the next 9 or so months and our lives have changed dramatically. Madame Pele was not playing around...
Sounds like a pretty scary situation to live in. I lived in Los Angeles for many years and I went through some of the worst earthquakes California had ever seen.
During the Lander's quake, I decided to got to work and assist in help that might be needed - this was 4am and still dark out. I decided to switch my drive route into work, for some unknown reason, and ended up escaping death. My normal route, unbeknownst to me, had a collapsed bridge that one person actually drove 60-feet off while driving in darkness! Unfortunately, this person died immediately upon impact, but that could have easily been me.
Even though I escaped certain death, I still cannot imagine living in a place where my escape routes are extremely limited and the ground is opening and spewing lava. For me, that is far more horrific manner of dying than driving 60-feet off a bridge into darkness!
@@RumbleFish69 yeah I’m originally from LA. All my family still lives there. CA quakes are no joke. Destructive. Here, the quakes are slow rollers. Nothing like CA. I remember the Northridge quake I was sleeping on the couch at my grandmas house and their huge bay window was flexing back n forth like crazy. I still don’t know how it didn’t shatter. My friends here look at me crazy when I don’t flinch when there’s an EQ here. It’s that CA quake readiness in me...
