Your video was overwhelming (but why so quiet, a lot of it I can’t make out?). I spent my childhood in Culcheth, and all the places in your video are deep, deep in my memory. Perhaps even your house! You said the Dodds next door - was that Julie and Michael Dodd (the kids), in an avenue just off Wigshaw Lane? (was that Sephton Avenue?). I’ve lived in Taiwan over 30 years and haven’t been back there for well over 40 years but I remember Hob Hey Lane, the British Legion, ‘A Block’ of Culcheth High, the Dayton Club, the Harrow Inn, the Cherry Tree (exactly the same!) and many other places (I was only a boy in Culcheth, so no drinking officially, but I used to walk passed every day; I lived in Wigshaw Lane). Well, thanks for the memories and please let me know if I’m right about the Dodds?

Yeah, Sephton Ave, was off Wigshaw lane. The Dodds were next door to me and lived at No. 4; 5 kids, Michael, Julie, Pat, Jane and Rosalind

That's incredible! And I found your video just by chance. Mike was my best friend; he even went with our family on holiday to the Isle of Man Later, I moved to Penketh, and I think the Dodds moved to north Wales about '74 or so (?) Penketh was just down the road, but I missed Culcheth! I must have seen you sometime if you were living there in the late '60s and early '70s, I was often at the Dodds place!

I was also friends with Mike, but he was a year or two older than me, so weren't best buddies. I was often in their house. They did move to Wales in the mid-70s. I'm Facebook friends with his two sisters Ros and Jane. I think Mike died a few years ago.

Oh, no! That's a real blow. And it explains something - I tried to look him up a couple of years ago, thought I had his address, wrote and received no reply. Do you know what it was he died of? He would only have been 55 or 56@@andywhite5986

Hello Andy, I just discovered that TH-cam kindly deleted my reply to your last comment while leaving it visible on my usual browser: I'm posting it here again in the hope that it may get passed the Google censors:
By the way, if you happen to mention me to anyone there who may remember me, my full name is Alix Lee Speakman, and at that time I was known just as Ali Speakman. I do remember Rosalind now and I remember Mike talking about you, although I can't remember ever seeing you. I don't suppose you knew any of Mike's other mates of the same age, like Steven Dean, who lived by what is apparently now called Linear Park (we just called it 'the railway' in those days)? His siser Sue was a year or two younger. My own sister, Sandra, may have been closer to your age (she's nearly 54 now)? At our present ages, a few years here or there seems like nothing at all, but for us as we were then it meant hanging around with an entirely different bunch of kids! Anyway, thanks again for the video...
