Although not originally from there, I grew up in Warrington (Birchwood then later Culcheth) but had to move away for my dad's job. That was back in the '80's. We relocated to Newcastle upon Tyne and been in the north east ever since.
Got some happy memories from my childhood so finding your channel and seeing your videos of Warrington and the surrounding areas has been a real treat.
I might even pay my childhood home a visit this year.
    Brilliant channel 👍

Your channel has been a gem of a find, covering many of the areas I grew up in. You should cover Rivington. Maybe some cut scenes to maps of where you are talking about would be a good addition

I really enjoyed your video. I lived in Culcheth from 1965 to 1974. I went to Newchurch School, which is next to the Linear Park. I remember it as a railway line and at playtime we’d dash across to the fence to wave at the steam train as it passed, the driver would toot his whistle. Not long after, the track was taken up and the linear park was made.
I was confirmed at Newchurch Parish Church, and would go to church every week….in order to be eligible to go to the youth club at the parish hall.
Roger Hunt lived on Culcheth Hall Drive and I would ride my bike “round the block” past his house.
We lived next door to Andy Burnham who lived in Culcheth.
Later, I went to Culcheth High School and my friend and I started to walk to school in a round about route in order to catch a glimpse of John Bevan, Warrington and Wales rugby player, who was a games teacher.

Nice day for a Bimble. You can actually get to Culcheth from Warrington avoiding the roads. From Birchwood station, take the track through Birchwood forest park all the way to the hill overlooking the "angel" near the motorway junction. Cross the roundabout over the M62 to the dead end on the northern side. Take the track through the old landfill site which has been reclaimed by nature and you come to a footpath across the field to Culcheth, coming out at the old railway line near Bent Lane.

You start off at the ancient Winwick church of St Oswald. In 1887 a man called Edward Smith who was then a ship's officer was married here in 1887. He eventually became a captain, and by 1912 was the master of the new RMS Titanic that became the most terrible sea disaster in history.

Nice one Keiran, some nice roads around Culcheth, cycled to the Partridge Lakes on one of my own bimbles, nice cafe there. About 70 miles from here in Formby. There's a great bike shop I want to visit in the summer called Ron Spencer Cycles which is a great Bianchi dealership, so I might bimble out there one day in the summer.

9:10 Well said Kieran! There's nowt worse than paying for a ticket then not getting it checked on the train or at the station! You end up feeling sort of cheated coz of your honesty!

The other side of the coin is there is the same amount of people that never pay for the journey......well not directly. We all pay their fares in the end.

The way you explain the blood story actually made sense to me, the crown took his land and money away from him so he stole the jewels to make a stand? Then the king said ok have your land and money but away from England and sent him to Ireland instead 🤣🥴👑 can sort of understand what happened now!

Really good, our Keiron . Very interesting and Newchurch. Have you thought of doing a bimble around Warrington Market . You know, the new market . Not the old new market , which replaced the old market . But the potato market was the first to disappear. You could bimble to the old fish market . Well, the canopy of the old fish market . Going now, my head hurts . Keep bimbling, Keiron

Andy Burnham hasn't been the MP for Leigh - or anywhere - since 2017. He gave up his seat to contest the Mayoralty of Greater Manchester, and the Mayor is what he now is.

Hi Kieran, I'm a recent viewer of your excellent Bimbles, I like to see that you have done local ones! have you looked into the History of Ashton, ref the Holy Hand at St Oswalds and into the history of Bryn! it actualy had fortified castle type buildings at Landgate thanks to the De brynne family, perhaps a future Bimble?? keep up the very entertaining work! local history is fascinating. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryn_Hall,_Ashton-in-Makerfield

My Parent's like many others locally worked on Munitions at Risley during WW2, they used to catch the train at Ashton Railstation to Risley on the line you discussed on this Bimble, the line was put in to run into the factory but it was never shown on any map! obviously for good reasons! when the land was taken back from the M.O.D and so was created Risley Moss country park, if you know where to look you can still find the grass covered mounds, I think there is 3, that was where the munitions were stored! in the early days of the country park one of the storage warehouses was open and you could go inside, my Dad worked in them and I remember him telling me about the amunition and whatever else they made in the ordanance factory, I know the german bombers tried to locate the factory and it must have been scarey working in the storage warehouse with all the expolsive munitions. @@BimblismUK
