To say the least, godzilla minus one and Oppenheimer would have been a very fitting double feature movie trend over than the barbenheimer movie trend last year. Since minus one and Oppenheimer touch down on the allegory of nuclear bombs destruction
I preordered the Japanese version from the Godzilla store the day it went up. There were discount codes for free shipping and a percentage off that made it around $40 USD. It *does* include Minus Color.
Just ordered the Deluxe box set from Amazon UK!!! Paid a crazy ass price for it in USD, however, it looks pretty sweet! And it includes Minus Color!!! And subtitles on the special features apparently!
I got the steelbook, and it's amazing! I also like collecting steelbook releases. I really love the transparent sleeve on this one! It really adds to the overall look of it. 😁👍
Just a heads up, Amazon Prime has Minus Color available digitally for 6 bucks. So if you want it but dont want to drop 65 bucks for the Japanese set. that an option.
I got the 4-Disc $65 release from September and the only thing I want to clarify is that that release does not include an English dub. You do get the English subtitles but you get a Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD 5.1, Dolby TrueHD 2.0, and a Dolby TrueHD 2.0 audio descriptive track all in Japanese on the three movie discs (4K color, HD color, HD Minus Color). The discs also offer an option to play the menus in Japanese in addition to English (including the bonus disc). This is all in an attempt to replicate the Japanese-exclusive version from earlier this year. There are also theatrical trailers for the movie (in 4K with HDR on the 4K disc) on all of the feature film discs with no subtitles in addition to the the bonus disc also with no subtitles. I would still say that it is currently the definitive release, but I don't fault those who think it is way overpriced for what you get.
@@TPRErik I totally agree! It is one of the crown jewels of my 4K/Blu-ray/DVD collection and it looks jaw-dropping in 4K with Dolby Vision. The Dolby Atmos was incredible as well.
@@DoomRulz Unfortunately no. There are also trailers for the movie in Japanese on each of the actual feature film discs. These trailers also don't have subtitles. However, both cuts of the movie do have English subtitles and every disc (including the extras disc) has an English menu so you can at least see the titles of the featurettes in English.
I'm in Canada and managed to preorder the 4K Steelbook through a local music/movie store called Sunrise Records. Price was $46CAD, which jives with $35USD. Personally, I didn't need "-Color" but did want a better version than standard to honour such a milestone film. This Steelbook fits that purpose nicely without braking the bank.
You can get the $75 Box set (In English) from Diabolic (They import from England). It won't be released and shipped until they release it in England, which is supposed to be in Dec.
I initially pre-ordered the Amazon Steelbook, then when Togo offered the boxset I bought that. I haven't canceled my Steelbook pre-order, though. I still plan on getting it as well.
the UK deluxe set supposedly has subtitled special features and a translated booklet. US were quite lazy with theirs. Edit: that poster you said was used on Japan physicals is a fanmade poster, it's the Monsterverse Godzilla with the Minus One dorsal fins.
I am pretty sure that the Limited Deluxe Edition will have ENG subs for the UK version. It will ship in a month. I am not sure why they are not having the ENG subs on the extras in the US. Maybe wait a bit more.
I've got the Japanese Special Edition 4k, & quite literally, other than the English subtitles, EVERYTHING is in Japanese. It's still worth it! This is an astounding set!!
I agree. I bought a blu ray player just for the set. And the extras are fun even without translation. Poor actress had to do her own stunts with no stand in(!).
Not a diehard Godzilla fan but I did get the Japanese deluxe because I thought it was the only way to get it. Glad I did because I want to see color and the black and white versions of the movie.
The deluxe 4K box set has all the bells and whistles. Perfect release for Minus one. I did also pick up the basic 4K mainly so I had access to the dub if I want but definitely prefer the original Japanese audio.
I managed to get a preorder of the Walmart steelbook for G-1.0. I missed out on the preorder for GXK because they did the same thing and didn't order anymore after the initial preorders of the steelbooks sold out. I had to drive to another walmart across the state (2.5 hours away) to find a GXK steelbook on the shelf.
the best way to watch Godzilla Minus one is get the dvd, yes I said Dvd and then hook the dvd player up to a crt tv. after you seek out those relics then you put the black and white version on and it will be elevated to a whole other level, it will feel period correct and just old school, highly recommend to go this route if you can. ♥
I always support physical media, as I have all the Godzilla films to date on BRD ( used to have VHS then DVD). But minus one is an odd conundrum. I want one set that has the standard film, minus color, and the English dub. There's not one release that has all those things together. So I saw Vudu had a sale for Godzilla day to get the standard film on digital for $7. I couldn't pass that up. This will suffice until an all.encompassing physical media release comes out.
I got the steelbook + poster from Gruv via preorder. If they do a NA collector's edition with Minus Color I'll consider trading up to that but for now I'm happy with the steelbook.
I''m just going to grab the Standard 4K when it's released here in Australia as I am not a collectors edition type of person as they are pretty pricey for a hard box and maybe a mini poster and some picture or post cards
I had the standard 4K version preordered but was really looking around for the steelbook. I had it in the cart on Target a week ago and then it sold out before I could complete the purchase. Had pretty much given up on getting one anytime soon and then I just happened to wake up at 5am a few days ago and saw it available for preorder on Amazon. Snagged that bad boy asap. Bad news is the price was nearly $20 more than what i had seen around other sites.
Got it Last Week On DVD 📀 Contains Both Versions of The Movie + Bonus Features! Black And White Version Was Great To Watch Because Reminds Me Of The Original Film 😊 I Also Got The Movie Poster With Godzilla On The Front Just Before He Releases His Atomic Breath and Photos Of Cast Members At The Bottom of The Poster!😊
I bought the 4K, no slipcover. I also have the collectors set as shown in the video. As for the steelbook, majority of them probably bought by Ebay sellers to soak you for about $100 a pop.
The Japanese Collectors box set did in fact have Minus Color included. You can see the disc in the image you show in your video. It's BD, not 4k though.
Amazon has the Steelbook back in stock but at a higher cost, $50+. I went ahead and ordered it as it is worth it to me and more so if it has Minus Color as well.
How many Minus Color discs are there? I have the 4 disc set and it's on there in Blu-ray. Is there also a 4K version? It was my understanding that it was on in Blu-ray.
I forgot to cancel the american steelbook after the japanese english subs with minus color one came out again on the site and I pre-ordered that, too. Now both are shipping at the same time.
The standard edition, 4K movie does it include the Blu-ray version of the movie and where could I find it? Is it on the special features? Disk that is the bonus disc.
Looks like I’m waiting for Janus to get the rights to release a Ctiterion Collection for my hard copy; no way they half-ass it without a “Minus Color” print included…plus the extra features will be properly subtitled.
I bought the Toho 4K 4 disc set for $80.00 and glad I did because it has the B/W version. Watched it several times, haven’t got tired of it yet, also Friday the 4K 1954 Godzilla is also arriving.. Also they are releasing a longer version of it, meaning multiple, multiple disc…
Getting the 4k standard. Would have liked the steelbook but I'm still ok with the standard. Grabbing it for the option of dub for my wife. I heard the dub was good. I have a feeling that Minus Color might get a separate release down the road. But we'll see.
I'm watching the 4K version right now that I got for Christmas. Is it just me or did the sound mixing back way off on the volume of Godzilla himself?Everything he did from walking to his roars was absolutely deafening in the theater. In this home video release, not so much. It's the first thing I've noticed since he attacks almost immediately after the movie begins.
Oof, I was gonna go with the box set that included Minus Color, but if it's only on blu, I'm gonna pass. I personally think the demand for Minus Color is big, and they know it... they'll probably announce a separate release for Minus Color next year so they can get twice as much money out of us lol.
I double ordered the steelbook 1 from walmart and 1 from amazon to see which one gets to me first. Other one is getting returned. But nowadays you cant trust all retailers to follow through on your order.
After the steelbook was sold out everywhere i was able to preoder from barns n noble only to get an email some time later that my order was cancelled and then showing out of stock. i guess it wasn't meant to be
The best set is the 4 disc one that includes Minus Color and teh bonus feature disc (despite not having subs). Honestly, most of the bonus features don't need subs. The interview and panel are really the only things that need them. BTW, getting all of the features subbed would have upped the price of the set since they would have had to hire a translator for them all, time them, and re-author them.

Would love to own this but only if it has both versions. Guess I'll wait...
