It better be Anguirus. He hasnt been in the spotlight since Final Wars and he was litteraly Godzilla's first opponant. Given Minus One's throwback time period it's perfect
Not long after i saw minus one , I thought to myself that given the fact that godzilla got blown into a few pieces , another monster could potenitally offshoot , up to and and including another godzilla itself, giving an opportunity for a " war of the gargantuas" type of situation. Not likely but not totally impossible . 😅
Maybe Yamazaki, can cover the original GMK concept, since that movie was a huge influence. Only this one with Anguirus, Varan, and Baragon, as it was originally intended.
As long as Noriko doesn't mutate into a giant monster for Godzilla to fight I'll be happy. I also want Godzilla to still be the main antagionist, and not be overshadowed by whatever other monster they introduce. I really enjoyed Minus One as a standalone and don't want it tainted by a sequel the cant live up to it's predecessor.
I agree, Noriko mutating would be gratuitous body horror for the sake of having body horror. I always hated the idea, and it would ruin the sequel for way too many people
8:42 A collaboration with an international studio with foreign actors would be mental, it's getting me psyched just thinking about it. It also puts into perspective that maybe he wants English speaking in his movie.
I don't know why but Anguirus is one of my favorite Godzilla opponent / friends. Anguirus wasn't my second Kaiju, (I think I saw Jirahs before I ever saw Godzilla, and I never saw the movies "in order",) but I've been hoping, and talking with friends about how I'd love to see the "Angilosaurus" (fictional dinosaur he descended from in "Godzilla Raids Again" (1955)) in movie two ("Godzilla Minus Two"? "Godzilla Zero"?) if / when it comes out. As always thank you so very much for the videos.
I thought G-1 goji had a very sad and emotionally deep vibe as a character. hes not only angry, but wronged entirely. we see him get bombed and attacked over and over. he was turned into a monster by humans and that is something he was very aware of. I think using that rage and betrayal as a driving force in the human and monster stories in parallel can not only make for a good way for the audience to relate to godzilla himself, but also the human characters. this could in turn also work on themes of forgiveness. Having Godzilla forgive or at the least become neutral to humanity would put an interesting twist on "why" godzilla becomes a protector vs just a random tone switch in the franchise. its always jarring to me that he just becomes a hero all of a sudden and flops back and forth. this would at least give it a reason. he also is completely regenerating from a small piece of himself so the idea that hes a different monster altogether could be a reason for the personality change. especially if a new monster is introduced. maybe one thats begotten by his atomic powers or mutated by his biological fallout like Shin.
The Toho Godzilla movies and American movies are completely different and got nothing to do with other,I don’t think people understand the Legendary Godzilla movies and Toho movies are too different movie series
I'd love to see Angilas again! Would suit the post-atomic Dinosaur pretty well, can already imagine some iconic scenes with monsters in the background and people running away from the danger, mixed with bird's flight pov camera shots for destructions scenes, as it was in Ginza. I wouldn't want it to be 1:1 movie remake, mayby introduce more than one monster actually (if it somehow suits the movie), even tho Godzilla 1955 ending would be very suitable for Shikishima.
Id love to ssee anguillis (spelled wrong) most people want biolante.... just i feel like its too early for that. But can set it up for the 3rd or 4th film
One thing I think you should do a video on is what Godzilla's new design might be, Godzilla's body was completely destroyed so once it reforms he may look completely different. Its a topic that I notice a lot of people gloss over
I don’t think he’ll look completely different BUT definitely different in some way, especially since people always want new Godzilla figures or statues he’s definitely gonna have some “upgrade” or something
I think it would be cool if they actually re-imagined the character of US reporter Steve Martin. Since he was the character that was imposed by the US studios into the original Godzilla, I'd love to see the character be an actual part of the story rather than awkwardly edited in. I think military personnel and news media make the most sense to add international characters into the setting. As for what other kaiju I'd like to see, I'm really not sure. I love Anguiras, but I can't see him standing a chance against this G unless they gave him additional powers. I think it's too soon for a showing from Ghidora. A -1 version of Mothra would be pretty great. Toho owns Gamera too, right? Boy howdy I'd love to see a Gamera movie with this kind of love. I really enjoy the Heisei series. I'd love seeing a new take on him, just not in a Godzilla movie. They're both headliners to me.
He made a Godzilla movie where I actually care about the humans, which is something I haven't seen since Final Wars. Give him as big of a budget as he asks for and let him work his magic.
Yes, Godzilla Raids again remake would be cool. In fact, I would love to see ALL the Showa era movies remade from the ground up with a serious tone similar to Minus 1
I would like a kind of Alpha type signal that started the monster awakening to take something from the legendary universe. Godzilla revives in a weakened state. Makes his way to Odo Island and screams . A the beacons are lit moment. Kaijus are emerging all over.
Hollywood actor in a Toho Godzilla film? I think there is one name that would be quite fitting - George Takei. Why not? His first ever work in the industry was dubbing both "Rodan" & "Gigantis, The Fire Monster". Casting Mr. Takei, I feel would bring things to full circle.
Angie-kun deserves to see a wonderful scary live action representation! he was the second Kaiju to appear back then in my grand parents and parents time he deserves a return
With the monster vs. monster side, I’m sure they can pull it off without it steering away from what Minus 1 is about. Like have them fight more like animals, making it even more chaotic as it shows the people suffering from it. Human side, I have no idea how to top it with the exact same characters.
This is why I love "Godzilla: Minus One", it has all the elements that the new American fans (and Americans in general) don't associate with Godzilla movies. Such as...plot, a coherent story that moves along swiftly and doesn't bog down. and human characters that are likable and relatable, and well written & acted so that you care about them. Hearing that Yamazaki-san doesn't much care for goofy and silly Godzilla movies warmed my heart, too. Me, I'd like to see Biollante as the first kaiju this iteration of Godzilla fights and KEEP HOLLYWEIRD THE HECK AWAY FROM IT. IMO, an American studio would try to exert too much influence over a uniquely Japanese property and water it down for American consumption when "Minus One" went over just fine with Americans as it was.
I think it would be cool, if in the sequel he does fight Anguirus, but he kills him in the first 10mins of the film. So it starts in the city and its all peaceful and quiet but then they just come out the water out of nowhere while fighting eachother and they take it on land with complete disregard to the city, just making the fight look completely animalistic and terrifying at the same time!
I'd love to see a "War of the Gargantuas" film in-between the Godzilla films. Use the Godzilla cells as affecting a couple of young people, who get transformed and grow into the two creatures.
I hope they make the sequel with a small budget. It seems that when movies are made with a huge budget, they lose passion. But, because minus one was on a small budget they had to go all out and make it great.
Yes, Mothra vs Godzilla 1964 is the gold standard of Godzilla fighting another Kaiju. I would like to see something different by having Godzilla fighting another variation of himself when his cells start to regenerate at the end of the last movie.
I would like an "American Version" of Godzilla Minus One like how Raymond Burr was edited into Gojira to make Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Not sure who would be good for that, though.
I know it's already the name of that graphic novel but I feel like Godzilla Aftershock would work well since tokyo would've likely rebuilt completely and then Godzilla showing up means that it would just be leveled again. Another good one would be Godzilla ground zero.
since -1 Godzilla dies by crumbling away i hope to see him when he comes back in a thinner body due to no nuclear source to help him get juiced up similar to 1955 body but he would be more agile just how godzilla in gvk/gxk acts but tone down to fit the minus one universe.
Great idea having a international studio with foreign actors for the sequel' that would be great to see while I don't know which monster will be in the sequel I know which ones it won't be, namely Mothra and King Ghidorah. As I remember him saying back when he was working on the first one that he wanted Mothra and King Ghidorah to have their own films first before either one of them taking on Godzilla' so no vs film until they get their own movies first down the road someday. Makes me wonder if Rodan would get his own film again before taking on or teaming up with Godzilla in a future film?
There were two solo movies back to back, yeah, but then we had two with monster opponents in a row before Minus. But that didn't need to be said, saying the next Godzilla will have a monster opponent is like saying "this pizza is gonna be yummy." Like, yeah, it's pizza. Yamazaki understands how Godzilla movies work mechanically... like, way better than you. I trust him implicitly and he knows what he's doing. No need to wonder or say silly things like "monster/human balance" or w/e, he's got it, he can handle the assignment, it'll be cool. If we keep doing the same things, we can't call it a new generation, and if your high praise is all we have, let us not be without him. I'm as excited for new Reiwa-era ideas as the next girl, but that's pretty nailed down by it's very nature. Planet Eater made it clear, Godzilla's not done until we are. So... yeah, that's always going to be a part of Godzilla now. ...but you know what IS really exciting and new? The idea of foreign artists working on Godzilla in a substantial way. Like, for real, no more hollywood bullshit, actual international talent on a real, actual Godzilla movie. Godzilla is not and has never been "too Japanese" for foreigners to understand. Obviously, I understand him, so there you go, and I'm not the only white person who does either. It's not particularly difficult, frankly. There is no legitimate reason why anyone who gets it can't turn in a solid Godzilla movie, the only problem is Hollywood consistently ONLY ever hires brain dead dipshit morons who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Granted, at least they're so bad they're good now, but... sheesh. I'm very excited to see what Toho will be willing to put their money behind this time, and who Yamazaki can get to bite. ...and I frankly wouldn't mind a Godzilla movie featuring actors reprising their roles as historical figures who already exist in real life and therefore likewise previously to any given Godzilla film. I would kill for a Godzilla film with an alt history plot on par with a Kato Yasunori movie. KILL. I'll stab a fly if it'll get Godzilla vs. Kato Yasunori starring the guy from Oppennheimer made don't test me I'm crazy I'll really do it. Also I want the monster opponent to be Bagan but it won't be so then I want Biollante but it won't be so then I want something new but it won't be so then I just want literally anything that isn't Mothra, Ghidorah, or Mechagodzilla. Anguirus would be fun, Rodan might be better, but if it's Anguirus I want to revisit that lore stuck in the movie programs where Anguirus was the product of Soviet testing which didn't make it into GRA (because it needed another draft). I want a Godzilla movie to properly show me Japan stuck between two nuclear powers during the "cold" war, graphically. ...and I want it to be aboot Russia now. Because they are actually going to make a Godzilla if we're not careful. And we never are. I've seen enough Godzilla movies to know that.
It’ll have to be Anguirus. He’s one of the only kaiju that would work in this more grounded telling of the Godzilla mythos. Even guys like Ghidorah or Mothra run the risk of making things too hokey, which would run the risk of making the sequel the “Joker 2” to Minus One’s “Joker”. Just look at the Monsterverse. I like the Monsterverse, but it’s undeniable that ‘14 was a fairly grounded affair, and then it immediately went clownshoes as it started throwing in the other guys in King of the Monsters. I think America should handle Showa 2.0, and let Toho handle the serious stuff.
Hey Dman! What do you think of the 1998 Godzilla being resurrected as “Cybergodzilla” as a way to pay tribute to Mechagodzilla and using blue atomic breath and attacking Tokyo like the Japanese Godzilla? Also how was it like seeing him fight his son in Part 3 of Monster Wars?
I don't know about the same cast that poor man deserves peace lol. I would like a little time jump forward. About another monster, its a very thin tight rope to give enough of the monster action and keep it focused on the humans. That will be tough to pull off. As for fighting itself, they would have to do some changes. GM! was very bulky and very stiff, and lets not ignore the elephant in the room, has one of the most OP atomic breaths we have ever seen. Are you telling me Anguirus could take a hit of that atomic blast? They would have to weaken it. As for a major American actor, I think they could get Nicolas Cage.
If there are western actors, I can imagine they would play the many US soldiers who occupied Japan until the early 50s, if this movie isn’t set far in the future. An idea explored with them might be reconciliation after such a brutal war, and cooperation across borders to deal with a bigger threat. I’d love to see this world expanded.
Please don't forget world ,Godzilla deceived Angiorus the people's champ. People on Earth had a loving bond with Angiorus and Godzilla was jealous of that and killed his best bud.. this was Godzilla's true nature, aside from being the world's antagonist
I probably won’t be Anguirus because he’s not that big or powerful. My best bet would be Hedorah or King Ghidorah, Mecha Godzilla doesn’t feel like he’d work in this universe especially if it is going to take place in the 1950s.
I'm excited for the next film for TOHO's next film. The Monsterverse will still continue giving us more GODZILLA films but they don't land as well as the way TOHO does.
You cannot have a Godzilla film unless Godzilla is in half the movie. This whole franchise has stepped on itself by focusing on humans. We don't care about the humans!! The humans kill the movie, making it boring and doing stupid stuff. Make a Godzilla film about Godzilla!!
No offense but it's kind of obvious when you're reading your script and maybe if you can figure out a way to put it behind the camera or really close to the camera so then it looks like you're speaking towards your audience(I hope this was informative)
Godzilla Raids Again deserves to be retold....this is what I'll hope for personally.
It better be Anguirus. He hasnt been in the spotlight since Final Wars and he was litteraly Godzilla's first opponant. Given Minus One's throwback time period it's perfect
Singular point: “alright so I just don’t exist?”
Agreed
We want Angurius in the Monsterverse.
Why Anguirus though? What does he add to the story? Think of the story not just having your favorite Kaiju punch Godzilla.

...and I want it to be aboot Russia now.
I thought that would happen in Minus One and would LOVE to see it explored in a sequel
There are almost as many Godzillas as there are Santa Clauses and Elvises. Lol. Ha Ha.
Please don't forget world ,Godzilla deceived Angiorus the people's champ. People on Earth had a loving bond with Angiorus and Godzilla was jealous of that and killed his best bud.. this was Godzilla's true nature, aside from being the world's antagonist
i hope they keep him slow and less agile, or else they would have to change his entire look. (i dont want that) i like the new slow version
I better not see annoying tourists doing a switch-up and complaining when Anguirus fights Godzilla
-1 should have on best pic.
Mecha-Minilla
Hedorah could really be an hp love craft monster
Yes awesome idea but he would need back up another monster godzilla minus 1 too powerful
what about Hedorah?
I wish they would do Shin Godzilla or a New Mothra series, where the original size is restored
I probably won’t be Anguirus because he’s not that big or powerful. My best bet would be Hedorah or King Ghidorah, Mecha Godzilla doesn’t feel like he’d work in this universe especially if it is going to take place in the 1950s.
Alien giant monster doesnt really fit in this unless hes like some winged komodo dragon
Megalon -8.2
Hedorah
I hope varan fights Godzilla instead of angirous cuz he’s underrated
Douglas Macarthur was a colonial savage who should never be celebrated or praised.
I'm excited for the next film for TOHO's next film.
The Monsterverse will still continue giving us more GODZILLA films but they don't land as well as the way TOHO does.
World War G
You cannot have a Godzilla film unless Godzilla is in half the movie. This whole franchise has stepped on itself by focusing on humans. We don't care about the humans!! The humans kill the movie, making it boring and doing stupid stuff. Make a Godzilla film about Godzilla!!
False Advertising. No one knows who the 2nd Kaiju will be yet, or even if there will BE a 2nd Kaiju at all.
That is what the topic of the video is. So, ya know, accurate advertising.
Godzilla vs Oppenheimer
Just please not Gamera. Please no!
Why not?
Minus one was overrated, I'm hoping the sequal.will be better
To each their own
NO, GOD NO!!! DON'T GO TO LUCASFILM!!!!!
No offense but it's kind of obvious when you're reading your script and maybe if you can figure out a way to put it behind the camera or really close to the camera so then it looks like you're speaking towards your audience(I hope this was informative)
No Feloni he will ruin the movie
I just hope godzilla is still the bad guy
If there not going to let American get minus 1 on DVD THE KEEP 2 IN JAPAN DON'T BRING IT TO THE UNITED STATES
I would love it if Cillian Murphy reprised his role as Oppenheimer.
