The Godzilla design from Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla 1994 was the one used in most promotional art as well as being painted on the Toho studios wall. It's also the same suit as the Burning Godzilla except they added some modifications to the suit.
I would put KOTM Goji on Skreeonk tier, right behind the two Heisei designs Because that design is already iconic, It's the most well known Goji design nowadays. If you ask non Goji fan about Godzilla, they would think about that design
Awesome video! TH-cam for some reason didn't push your other Godzilla Kaiju tier list to me so I'm bout to go watch that one too. But yeah IMO the OG stands atop them all since it's the base, and off the cuff I'd also so some of my fave designs are GMK, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla (my favorite Godzilla movie), Minus One, Burning Godzilla and then either the RadoGoji or BatoGoji designs.
5:27 I knew I subbed for a reason!! ‘62 is my S-Tier #1 pick til the day I die. Menacing, jacked, and still somehow dopey. Perfection 👌🏻 And those claws!!
I've been a Godzilla fan for 40 years and...usually I like to rip on "Hollywood-ized" versions of pop culture things but I have to be real...I think the American Godzilla from 2014 till now (all designs) have been probably my favorite(s) look for Godzilla ever. For once Hollywood got it right. He looks absolutely powerful and gargantuan but also ferocious. I even like it when he moves faster than we're used to. And he still 100% looks like Godzilla (unlike 1998). Just a complete slam dunk. I never thought I could love a CGI Godzilla as much as a rubber suit version but here we are..
I mean...godzilla is a simplistic concept. An idea so simple Hollywood, let alone any movie studio anywhere can get it right unless it's handled by someone or people who don't care (Roland Emmerich). But yes the MV is one of the few times Hollywood adapted a Japanese IP correctly but when you take into account the idea of monster movies came from America first, it shouldn't be too shocking they get godzilla right with the right people in charge
I had either a horrifying/amazing revelation you can technically connect the Universal monster and or Hammer Frankenstein series to the Godzilla series through Frankenstein vs Baragon and War of the Gargantuas!
It’s a pity about the steelbook, I love those, I only have 2 I think, the last one I got was the 4th movie in the Rebuild of Evangelion series. So glad I preordered that because can’t get it now, there’s a bunch of anime here if you don’t get them immediately they become difficult to get. I wonder did they sell out of the steelbook & that’s why you didn’t get it, because usually they don’t sell those for very long.
BTW, the Batogoji suit you put in S-tier is not the suit used in the 1991 Godzilla vs King Ghidorah film. It's the suit used in the following year's Godzilla vs Mothra The Battle for Earth. The 1991 suit is technically the same suit as the 1989 Biogoji suit, even though it was modified to have a pointier head and more muscle in the chest, so there's no separate entry in the list for the 1991 movie. Batogoji is more like the 1993 and 1994 designs than like the 1991 and 1989 designs. If you want to put the 1991 suit in S-tier, you'll need to swap the 1989 and 1992 suits and put the Biogoji in S-tier instead of the Batogoji.
Godzilla is a franchise I just never got into, I’ve never seen any of those Japanese movies at all, never even seen them anywhere. And I had no idea there were so many.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- every franchise is bigger than you may think. Marvel and DC ain't just big because of the mcu for example. Comics spanning as far back as the 1930s. Godzilla is in the same boat. Nearly 40 films over the course of 70 years. King kong is almost 100 and has less films by comparison
Bro you can apply that to MOST of the designs 😂. Everyone got nostalgia for each one as each one just takes notes from an earlier design or is a classic design by default
I always preferred the idea that Godzilla was a woman. That or the ambiguity of the first movies gender. I don’t know I just don’t really like “king of the monsters” I guess it’s because both the female sex and it being an it has symbolic meaning. The it refers to Godzilla as a natural disaster, the harshness of nature, and the female framing refers to Godzilla as a kind of Mother Nature. Meanwhile imo Godzilla being a man is more just OOGA BOOGA BIG ALPHA MONSTER DESTROYS STUFF. That concludes my opinion. In the end it holds little value XD
Odo island villagers were sacrificing virgins to Godzilla for what it's worth. Enjoy your head cannon, but you may want to consider Japanese myths and spirituality.
@ ??? Godzilla has a long history of being both female, male, and non gendered. I’m just saying I prefer the canon where Godzilla is female or non gendered. There is no head canon here Godzilla is explicitly non gendered in the original movie and is explicitly female in others.
@@Nightmare-pj4fg Godzilla has never been referred to as a female in any of the movies, he has always been referred to as a "he" or a "it" by other characters.
@ obviously the wackiness of Godzilla canon makes it hard to definitively state what Godzilla’s gender is, which is why I haven’t done that, but there are many instances of Godzilla having female traits such as female genitalia, laying eggs (I know the movie was shit), and also later people who worked on the original and also acted as Godzilla in projects thought of the character as female. However yes of course Godzilla is 99% of the time in Japanese referred to ambiguously and in the English dub as “he” most of the time. I’m not arguing Godzilla IS female, I’m arguing I like the canon version of Godzilla being female which is just a neat idea that’s happened once or twice, or ambiguous which is how Godzilla is presented a majority of the time.
So many years. So many suits. Each one iconic in their own way

Lizard God🙏
Astro Monster really got the king looking like Cookie Monster 😭
Also Son of G looks… rough.

Thank you for giving my boy Millenium Goji the props he deserves.
Thank all of you guys who give this channel superthanks. Dracula needs to eat. Oh, and I guess Ryan also has to pay the bills.

Final Wars Godzilla is still my #1. He just always looks badass in every sense of the word.
Agreed. I wish they would use that design again
>SoshingekiGoji in mid-tier
"That's a bold strategy, Cotton, let's see if it pans out for him."

Gmk is still my favorite hands down. He looks like a straight demon
1962 design from King Kong vs Godzilla is definitely good
Mogegoji deserved better, Desugoji is literally just Mogegoji with a glow effect.
Missing the GMK Godzilla with the white eyes that is my favorite design in millennium era
Ryan, That RadoGoji image is from Gojira vs Destroyah and its Junior design. Ps. I love Gojira it's so sweeeeet
Thank you. Really enjoy your Japanese monster and horror videos. They are some of the best around.
I agree to most of this tier list
I had either a horrifying/amazing revelation you can technically connect the Universal monster and or Hammer Frankenstein series to the Godzilla series through Frankenstein vs Baragon and War of the Gargantuas!
Gotta love Godzilla
Love ur channel Ryan keep it up 🙏
I would like to see Rank list on King Kong design.
Comment for the algorithm
Can you sing the theme song 🎶 to Godzilla? Yes. Yes you can. 🦖🎶😎

Is there a Ryan you see in the mirror telling you to make the Godzilla Retrospective like the Green Goblin?
Actually yes
Gabara tier lmao

Japanese godzilla is a deep deep rabbithole

I like Barbenhiemer Godzilla.
Kaiju god
I like positive you are
how*
❤
Say that you didn't do a lot of thinking about before putting out a video isn't good
Yipeeeee
