sweet man. i keep coming back to explore the uConsole, i think we have to be articulate enough on some level to appreciate why its so good. i do not know CAD yet but can appreciate that designing the housing alone is serious work. Then there's the price, cmon man. I definitely need to buy one it seems like everything you need and more for a hackable, strategically low power system. great job!
Thank you for your service! I haven't received my uConsole yet but I was planning on plugging in a SDR and GPS on it. Your videos definitely inspired me to make it look more integrated. By the way, since you can 3D print, design a flap using the same hinge as the existing stand. The GPS tucks in the back when you don't need it. Flip it up when you do.
These videos are so good! I just installed an RTL-SDR v4 in my uConsole by following your last video and it's awesome. Even though I managed to rip off the solder pad for the SMA connector when trying to desolder it. Actually by coincidence I just bought one of those GPS's that you're using in this video, maybe I need to attempt another mod.
That's fantastic! I think you are talking yourself into doing this mod. Would you use that little hub PCB as well or try to patch into the second port pins on the expansion header?
Nice update! Alex sent me a new trackball module and it’s working flawlessly. I asked him about buying a blank extension card but he said I didn’t need it… I have the 4g module 😅
Thanks for the tip on that USB chip! Even if it's just USB1, it's still quite useful! :) (random thought, TRRS jack for the GPS could be an option for someone that want to be able to unplug it without having to use a USB connector)
Most importantly, it looks seriously cool! I believe you're now a fully qualified hax0r! I really want to follow what you do with this both in terms of hardware and software.
I think we need to come up with some interesting use cases. For example, using the SDR and GPS APIs or command line programs to allow you to look for a frequency on a transmitter and drive around to triangulate it!
I love it and want it but now looking at it how do you add stuff, no room. An I pad or knock off is cheaper and better but obviously this better for DIY projects.
I'm very close at buying this, but i wait for the compute module 5 to come out, to get that little extra power, either that or ordering it now and hope that the cm5 has the same dimensions to cm4. what would you suggest? by the way nice tinkering! great job!
I think realistically the CM5 will have a different footprint. It's possible that clockwork will release a personality or adaptor board for it, but that's no guarantee. They might even do making the device altogether 🤷
Great video and information as usual! Great job. You said about other add ons you could do. What about a LoRa module for meshtastic? That's an area that screaming for a device like the uConsole!
Will be interesting to see who makes the smallest module. With that spare USB still in there, it's definitely a possibility! I'll start looking for one.
Very cool! I just ordered me a HackRF portapack, this gives me some new ideas and thoughts. Also recently built my first Raspberry Pi. Subscribing right away, top notch videos! Thanks :) 👌😃
I have a few other videos posted on this in my description above, but to save you looking, I actually ordered this well over a year ago and totally forgot about it, so I was quite surprised when it turned up. I had to check my emails to see that I actually had ordered it 🤣 So I'm not really sure on there order to delivery times or if they've got any better 😃
Why didn't you just use the uart connection? it seems you've done this the hard way. Parsing gps data is fairly straightforward. That is also the most expensive raspberry pi I've ever seen.
Maybe, maybe but unlike most devices you're in full control of this. I'm sure there's some sort of war driving application in which this setup would be quite good
@1nico517 it's tempting to make a plastic back. The metal case is cool, but I'm not sure it's really an advantage over plastic, other than being cheaper to machine than the tooling for an injection mould
love your uConsole/SDR content, keep it up!
Kind of you to say, thank you. Winter is coming so plenty of time to fettle!

That's a fantastic idea!! A 3d modelling and 3d printing video sounds like a nice change

Amazing! This is becoming in to the definitive cyber deck
I think it needs some sensors now, like temperature, humidity, brightness etc!
Nice update! Alex sent me a new trackball module and it’s working flawlessly. I asked him about buying a blank extension card but he said I didn’t need it… I have the 4g module 😅
With the 4g module you need slightly different hackery!
Thanks for the tip on that USB chip!
Even if it's just USB1, it's still quite useful! :)

Turns out, it's USB 2.0
Most importantly, it looks seriously cool! I believe you're now a fully qualified hax0r! I really want to follow what you do with this both in terms of hardware and software.

Love your videos! Keep it up
Thank you! I will
The GPS antenna is for vehicles. It's position should be on the center of the roof of your vehicle.
When will you be taking orders for this custom mod? lol
Great work!

@@backofficeshowSeeed do some quite small modules, the E5 seems very popular amongst enthusiastic tinkerers like ourselves 😊
You can also try the SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E, no need to connect it by USB, works off bluetooth.
I want one, going in the kit oh my.
Very cool! I just ordered me a HackRF portapack, this gives me some new ideas and thoughts. Also recently built my first Raspberry Pi. Subscribing right away, top notch videos! Thanks :) 👌😃
That's pretty awesome!
Thank you, very kind. I need to reach the point where I stop tinkering with it, and start using it!
i ordered one of these after your last video. still waiting on it to ship. evidently they are well behind orders or its a kickstarter or something

"This is ourrectual wire..." - nice :)
Would it be possible to access the 3D print file for your front cover?

peace be upon you sir from me

Parsing gps data is fairly straightforward.
That is also the most expensive raspberry pi I've ever seen.
Very cool, but part of me thinks, that if my uconsole doesn't know where it is, it can't tell anyone else:)
Maybe, maybe but unlike most devices you're in full control of this. I'm sure there's some sort of war driving application in which this setup would be quite good
Step on that GPS and brake the case now mount it internal
There's almost certainly no external antenna port on the GPS receiver, and the signal will be ruined inside an aluminium box without one.
@1nico517 it's tempting to make a plastic back. The metal case is cool, but I'm not sure it's really an advantage over plastic, other than being cheaper to machine than the tooling for an injection mould
How to install Kali Linux? Please make tutorial

hi,bro,i love your videos very much! can i have your connect info? i want to cooperate with you
