I was a VPK teacher for 20+ years. Kids who come to school being mean...typically come from a house that is mean. Maybe its an older sibling, or lord forbid abusive parents. My advice is to ask your daughter to show him compassion while the grown-ups problem solve. Perhaps the teacher is already on it. And if not, you well within youre lane to inform her of the issue. These babies could be best friends before the end of the year.

It could be that he is a child who cognitively doesn’t understand how to properly communicate his emotions. Also, we should not label children nor place blame without individual research by a experienced professional. When the child does something that makes your daughter uncomfortable, she should inform the teacher immediately and it should be resolved first by the teacher. If nothing changes then you should meet with the teacher to discuss the situation.
@aliciaglover…..thank you! My son labeled that until he was 10yrs old, and finally after MANY since he was 4….. before even assessing him said…..is he already diagnosed with Asperger’s (spectrum)? But because he’s super high functioning no one took the time just to see him in his element to see what’s different. My son is very social, super duper smart and tries to integrate so much but his social skills had no boundaries so what was natural to others we had and have to build those differently for him!!! It’s not always the parents…..something is wrong. Doesn’t mean the other child has to suffer….communication communication communication!!!!!

You may want to get the full story before labeling the child a bully or a future bully. I’m not saying she is wrong but she is telling the story from her perspective and there could be unkind behaviors coming from both sides or he could just be struggling with expressing himself. At this age they are still really babies in my eyes and learning the world and societal norms. Sorry if I’m coming off preachy but my 5 year old son is in pre-k as well and I’d hate to hear anyone labeling him without even having a convo with an adult or knowing the full story. We all ride for our kids so if there is a true issue then yes get to the bottom of it
I was a kindergarten teacher for a few years and usually kids at this age aren't bullying to bully, they just have an inability to express how they feel. So sometimes all of their excitement can come off a little "hostile". I would definitely talk to the teacher though, so that you can get a complete view of the situation. He probably was just looking for somebody to play with and doesn't know how to enter into that group. Good luck either way.

I know that I am late and this video is older but when using the seam ripper, use it with the red ball side under the stitching to protect and prevent holes. Easier for gliding through stitches. The pointy part should be above the fabric. I've been sewing since 2001. My junior year in HS, I took a commercial sewing class at a career center for 2 years.

As a current pre-k teacher this is how I would handle a similar situation so you can have an idea from a teacher’s prospective: I would talk to the other child about picking on other children and how it makes them feel. I tell my kids it’s important to be honest. If they were still being disruptive I would have them “take a break” then do an activity separate at the table.
I would also talk to the other parent so they know how their child is acting in school.

Be careful, there should be a little ball on the short side of the ripper, the longer side may be sharp and you'll cut holes in your garment. The short side with the little ball goes against (bottom) of the stitch that you want to open. Be careful you can poke yourself.
