- There’s generally a size range of characters in fighting games, but how big can a character get? Well, it’s a case-by-case basis, but they can either be just taller than the other characters, or be significantly larger where the camera can barely fit them. The point is, I’ll be looking at some of the biggest characters that fighting games have brought us over the years. The heights may vary depending on how ridiculous the game gets, but regardless, all these characters tower over most of the roster they’re on.

@@galesonic In game, Neue Ziel and Psycho Gundam do come close to matching its height. But Amuro, Domon, Heero and the others' machines are completely dwarfed in size
The best part of the Colossus fight in SC3 is also the end. When you beat him, the last thing he does is fall forward. If you don't get out of the way, he lands on you and kills you instantly.
Bruh how annoyed I was took me a bit to beat him put the controller down having a sigh of relief then to my horror he drops on me absolute troll from the developers. I Bet they was laughing saying we gonna get a lot of people with this when implementing that

A standout moment in the Guilty Gear series is Faust's confrontation with Zato-1 / Eddie in Xrd.
He isn't goofing around, he's face to face with the man, or a remnant of the man, who ruined his life and killed an innocent girl in the process, so seeing him express his anger as he looms over Zato is genuinely menacing.
Imagine meeting these guys in real life. Especially if you're someone
lacking in the height department.
I remember being very new to the fighting game scene, and the huge characters were always such such a psychological scare for me. Just felt intimidating as all hell.
We need a Tekken Tag 3 where the Giant Characters are Height Accurate to the Cutscences, that they don't need a Partner.
Iron Giant from MultiVersus better be on this list. He's literally the biggest playable platform brawler character, relative to all the others.

Cool and validating to see our footage in action. I had a strong idea of what entries would be on the list, but not their order.
Yeah I definitely relied on the Sentinel a lot on MVC2
Despite that however, playing as Sentinel never took the fun out of the game for me, he was mostly a last resort and almost always the third person I picked for my team
I love how he was almost as tall as Abyss’ first form
Its probably because Sentinel had way more options than 95% of characters in that game and was more fun to play than praying a random jumping heavy or ducking light hit so you could a basic combo for no damage with most others
one thing to note about big bands tuba is that you can only be able to use it, if you first do his bagpipe blues taunt.
So I find it funny that Marduk was used in Tekken 7 and Tekken x Street Fighter to make other characters look bigger than him (Fahkumram and Hugo respectively) but he's actually taller than both of them.

I'll never forget when playing samho5 on GGPO for the first time with a friend: saw Kusaregedo, picked him and laughed my axx off the entire match, to the point my friend asked me if i was ok. The moves, the exaggerations, the sounds... everything tickled my weird, dumb sense of humor.

In the first Samurai Shodown game, Earthquake couldn't even be thrown by other characters.

My favorite is Hauzer from Red Earth. He was made playable in Capcom Fighting Evolution to represent Red Earth game.

the 80% of the characters in this list are my favorite characters of each franchise, specially Hugo

I remember how Tatsunoko vs Capcom had a couple of giant characters, such as Gold Lightan, who were SO big and powerful that the game actually doesn’t let you use a tag-team partner when using one of them.

Wish this game would get rereleased to modern platforms (especially PC). Actually wish every old fighter would get rereleased with QOL updates (rollback, lobbies, rank,and cross play). I can picture myself and many others still wanting to play these games 15 years from now. A PC release would certainly allow that. Just my .02

correction on big band lore: he was left strapped to a mechanical lung before becoming big band, that's why he got combined with jazz musical instruments, since most of them are stuff like saxophones and tubas
I thought the MK entry would be Motaro
Learning about the Yokai from SamSho is just...sad and horrifying. He eats his, I think, daughter at the end of his arcade mode.
I hate his story. It's partially why I didn't want to cover it too much. They basically fake out the player in SamSho 5 by making us think he was going to remember his past and then just have the twist that he lets the demon brain is in full control. I would be perfectly fine if they just had a non-canon redemption ending in every game he was in where his family is alive off to the side.
The number 1 entry was very fun and... Tatsunical!
Gold Lightan's alt costumes also represent the apparently distinct character Silver Lightan, down to the name change.
Ooh, I never knew that! The concept of Gold Lightan in TvC always interested me in the anime just because I loved the idea of a giant gold guy just punching and kicking whatever evil is in the anime.
Ok... I must admit that the n1 spot got me with my pants down. I knew about tatsunoko vs capcom but I NEVER saw those behemots before... Scales went out trough the window for good.

I love how Hugo just claps at you as an attack
You get giant characters in Killer Instinct like Aganos, Eyedol, and Gargos, as well as Arbiter and General RAAM(both of these are from different franchises that were added into KI) but ultimately choose Gargos
Gargos to me is like over 9 feet tall
RAAM clocks in at 10 feet tall, and when I measured them, Gargos has to be over 9 feet tall, while Eyedol, in Mage Form, he stand about same height as RAAM
The Kuma the bear character in the very first Tekken on the ps1 had a glitch in the character where if you kept pressing the low medium punch, his reach and speed could beat every other characters attack high or low. It meant you could triple perfect any other character with relative ease (apart from kuma) as long as you kept pressing low punch at the around the right time. It’s worked every time and really annoyed everyone on the sesh 😂
Some other giant characters:
-Catherine Kyoubashi, from Arcana Heart 3. Pilots a big freaking mech that towers above every other character
-Iron Tager, from Blazblue. Huge, towering over everyone, uses his massive size and strength, as well as his grapples and ability to magnetize enemies
-Quin Mantha, in Gundam Battle Assault 2. There are others bigger than this one, but I'm using a non-boss example. I could've used Big-Zam, but that one's just broken. Quin Mantha still towers over the regular mechs and has the damage to back it up.

Btw the "Tuba Tuba Tuba" is more likely a bit more specific to the "Muda muda muda" scream that the Dio family does during their hail of punches.
You're right on that. He's got a Jotaro color scheme, which is likely why I defaulted to saying it was "Ora" over "Muda"
Would the giant Zaku Mobile Suit count? He is so ridiculously big while also being the final boss of the game. Already talk my these huge mechs but the special Zaku dwarfs them, showing just how BIG it is.
I'd say so. I think some of the bosses in the Gundam games need cheat codes to be played, but there's definitely some good candidates in the Gundam fighting games.
Clearly never played Xmen Next Dimension. Those who have know The Blob is probably the largest playable character ever.
It's a shame I haven't played that since The Blob was one of my favorites in the 90s Xmen cartoon
I still have the XBOX version of that game. I'm bummed it isn't playable on my 360 :(
I find it funny that Sentinel is so big in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, considering how small it is compared to its actual height in the comics. Comics-accurate Sentinel would be one of the MvC giant boss fights, like Apocalypse (in fact, be a better candidate for Apocalypse's moveset in that series, really).
The reason why Kusaregedo started eating human flesh when he was human was because he was going through the Great Famine. No food due to volcanic eruptions and the ashes killing the crops, and the war killing a lot of people, so the guy had no choice but to eat human flesh so he wouldn't starve to death. The problem it's that he started liking it a lot and well, he eventually died and came back as this creature we know today.
so apparently Goro is half dragon. you guys know how dragons are portrayed as having 6 limbs? 2 arms....2 legs....2 wings (which are really just modified arms like in birds and bats). This might be why Goro has 2 pairs of arms. 2 of them might be wings from his dragon DNA. Shokans of the draco lineage at least. Not sure what is going on with the tigrar lineage. Half human half tiger? Quarter tiger, quarter human,half dragon? Whatever it is...they are %100 bad ass.
False. Kintaro is half Tiger and still has four arms. Despite Tigers only have four limbs themselves.

@@arielperez797 Kintaro is part of the Tigrar lineage. They're half-tiger Shokan. NOT half-dragon. They are all part of the Shokan race. However, there are different lineages consisting of different species. Goro, is a member of the draconian line. Kintaro, is not. Yet, they all share one thing in common. Four arms. You can copy and paste whatever you want from anywhere you please. I know what I'm talking about. There is no "apparently" about it. I'm not trying to argue with you here. But, you're simply wrong.

Fahkumram is probably closer to 7’3. Marduk is usually listed as 7 feet and from the trailer, im going to say Fahk is probably 7’3
For me it has to be Iron Tager. The Magnet powers and grappler playsyle make his matchup with smaller model characters super interesting. The gameplan between a bit of keep away into 50% grapple combos is super fun.

Top 10 characters that should return in Tekken 8
Seeing the two giant robots fight made me wanna see Abigail and Hugo fight in Street Fighter 6, which will probably not happen due to Abigail's unpopularity and SF6's more realistic art style being unsuited for such a cartoony character like him.
The Artstyle of 3 is THE most Realistic Artwise.
6 has a Giant MMA Girl in Abby's Place.
Some characters from darkstalkers should have been on this list, especially considering that pyron can grow up to 400 light years in hight
I love Darkstalkers and that's a fair assessment. I was wonder who I'd make the Darkstalkers rep if I had to mention the series, and it's either him or Jedah.
Oh and honorable mention: Catherine from Arcana Hearts. She's a swimmer who pilots a HUGE mech :P

If you weren't excluding bosses, I think Onslaught from Marvel vs Capcom woulbe be a good fit. Also I think there is a Gundam fighting game with huge characters, but I don't much about it, except that I saw the Game Grumps playing it years agol.
These monstrous hulking muscles are my favorite type. Glad to see Fahkumram got mentioned, he's my favorite Tekken character, super shredded veiny monster. Also Broly's badass. And I’d prefer Abigail to Hugo because Abi is more muscular and better bodybuilder vibe than Hugo, both are still awesome tho 💪.

my favorite giant character is ryoho the dragon from bloody roar 4. In human form he is a strongfat somewhat tall guy, but in beast form he's a dragon that in close takes more than half camera in length and when standing tall before attacking, even the tallest characters like stun or gado baraly reach his upper side of his legs.

I always play the biggest characters no matter what. Nemesis was my favorite with sentinel and Abigail behind.

To get the international version, it was a licensing nightmare for Capcom, so much that one fighter had to be removed (Hakushon Daimoah) due to his own license being held up by an Italian publisher. We got Frank West, Zero, Condor Joe, Tekkaman Blade and Yatterman 2 as extra fighters, but it wasn't without loss. Even the entire soundtrack had to be changed due to licensing (except Okami's music, for some reason). That's that joke that Capcom almost went bankrupted when trying to localize this game ^^;
