I really commend Alcorn on pushing SU book wise. Overall they squared up with them, took their punches and def scratched SU in the face a couple times. Good battle.

Alcorn didn't pinch SU at all and this may have been SU weakest 5th of the year which trumps all of the other SWAC band's 5th. SU really could have ran the same songs from last week. I'm glad they brought out new songs. I enjoyed them. Glad BB was brought back.. It was a boring 5th. No really excitement.
SU took this but thank you Alcorn for putting up a fight at least. SU arrangements are what took it. I'm not sure what it is but I'm not getting that usual SU killer instinct vibe so far this season. Saw shades of it against TXSU. But every other game has been so so. SU sounds a lot cleaner though.
Su has had some stumbles, that Maxwell, Let's get it started, and Dream On was not ready for public consumption! Throughout the season Su has had major BPM issues but tonight their BPM was on point! Let's just chalk it up to the pandemic hiccup. Because it is Southern we hold them to a higher standard than any other band!!!

Now they've transformed their musical approach from the wind ensemble style where they used to claim that they sounded better because they were finesse and we pushed watts, to copying our writing for power style they think they can now compete. But every year they are reminded by the Godfather Human Jukebox of who run the HBCU band scene. Notice how the Jukebox is the most copied band in the Nation, and nobody has tried copying what Jackson State originally was? SU vs Alcorn has been an anticipated battle last couple of years. Alcorn song selection is getting better. Can't beat SU or at least give them a challenge if your book and song selections aren't up to par.

I know it’s maybe not just me but I’m not hearing the same type of intensity along with the technicality of arrangements as when Simmons and Haymer was at southern. Arrangements this year have good intonation and every section blends well. Just something missing imo
Not really, I think it’s that the euphos are so strong this year, normally the mellos and trumpets would stand out more but the euphos way more overpowering than previous years, that plus ppl said the same thing about Simmons when Haymer left…

I know it’s maybe not just me but I’m not hearing the same type of intensity along with the technicality of arrangements as when Simmons and Haymer was at southern. Arrangements this year have good intonation and every section blends well. Just something missing imo
You can tell the music is a little simpler but, they hang their hat on power so not many will notice.
Not really, I think it’s that the euphos are so strong this year, normally the mellos and trumpets would stand out more but the euphos way more overpowering than previous years, that plus ppl said the same thing about Simmons when Haymer left…
