I'm late to comment but people should understand neither band will blow each other out (although SU does this to most bands). IDK why people make it about that every year. GOOD music and arrangements always wins. BOTH bands were incredible.

Whoever that doll is on the second row Directly behind the Captain is giving it to me good! Although the girls are doing an excellent job this season she is the one that is standing out. She definitely stands out totally and would be ready to take the Helm as Captain if need be....
Aamu outplayed Miles but Southern is a totally different beast. They have power, great arrangements as musicality. Aamu is lacking two for those three.
Volume: SU Technicality & Skill: AAMU Overall Quality: AAMU I thoroughly enjoyed both bands, but I couldn't help but be amazed at how AAMU sounded. It was very crisped. A couple of SU baritones and mellophones were sticking out very badly, especially at the very beginning when they crescendo to the climatic parts of the song. Idk if the section leader addressed it or not, but I didn't hear this issue after the 3rd/4th song played. AAMU didn't have any of these issues. If you are judging overall performance, AAMU is the clear winner.
My observation with SU tubas, they can't handle playing in the lower register because the way their part is written. They almost sound like they still played on those fiberglass tubas.
With all the hatred that's going on in this world today, especially with our own people. It would be a turning point to support, uplift, strengthen and be proud of all our HBCU bands. Along with the sophisticated black women of alumni, units, sorority organizations and dancers that add pure beauty to the comradery! Historically!!!!

It’s not really a L but it kinda is southern out here spanking bands like good parents 😂 like they song choice is always lit and they music is clearly written perfectly for them. Big ups to both bands though
SU took the win without a doubt. A&M has the sound but the Dr.Lee arrangements is the Achilles heel. Some arrangements with aggression would do wonders. I will say A&M held up better than I expected against SU. But I think that's because SU held back on the playbook. Had they call more arrangements like that Both Sides this would have been a murder scene.
I guess you guys feel A&M took the win lol. Regardless of whether SU used a few pieces from the battle they still took the 5th. Now as for su not having a book I disagree with that. I think they could have used more material but what did use was all they needed for A&M. When SU plays the more formidable bands(TXSU, PV, JSU) The book will open more.

Everyone is entitled to have thier favorite and every band in HBCU work hard but credit has to be given where credit is due. The word bias has nothing to do with chosing whos best. The work ethnic, labor, techniques, and creativity speaks volumes and has everything to do with it! All may work hard but few grind and work the hardest non stop with sacrifice and without compromise. There's not one SU band student with a 2.5 GPA or under in the band neither.

You put it the way you want to understand and since you want to do that then yes! It is what it is if the other Band programs isn't set up that way.

@@sordidC comprehend to what was posted. I'm implying that SU music program only accept 3.0 GPAs or higher into thier marching programs. Other HBCU SWAC band programs are not as strict . You put it the way you want to understand and since you want to do that then yes! It is what it is if the other Band programs isn't set up that way.

@@sordidC I'm not any part of decision making at Southern University neither have nothing to do with why they don't allow students with 2.5 GPA to march in thier band. Its their rules and regulations for thier music program and can really careless about it and how you feel about it. You can choose not to comprehend its not that seriuos to me. Ummm the current required GPA for a student to march in the MMW is also a 2.5. I dont speak for other programs cause my Money goes to AAMU. So to make a statement as if SU just created the wheel or some shit.....is Assinine despite whatever misguided good intentions an individual may have. Carry on..... 😂😂😂

O they do know how to play as one band and not just one section.... that 1st selection was nice SU
A lot of y’all really need a reality check if you this SU not balanced ...unlike other bands that had big numbers SU have always had balance with instruments balance does not mean boring and softer Incase you didn’t notice you can be loud and balance something other have not been able to do
They are not balanced. They have more trumpets than woodwinds. The trumpets cover up the entire band.
Fan of Music that’s a whole damn lie when trombones match the same intensity as well as every other section in the band when are folks going to realize theses people have been mastered playing loud with balance between each instrument
AAMU is saved from taking an L just for being able to respond to that torture from SU. I’m not giving them the W, but 99% of bands would have been laughed at if they tried crank back at SU. AAMU actually still sounded good and loud too.
