ilipinos expect a better life here in Canada, but they make minimum wage jobs their career instead of investing in Post-secondary education and financial literacy for their future. Other Asian ethnicity in Canada work so hard in school to get a better job and financial stability in the future. They only work on minimum wage jobs temporarily rather than make them their career. Why can't Pinoys do the same?

Depende sa loho. Twenty two years na ako dito sa Vancouver, BC in Richmond to be exact. Only one job and has only 800+plus hrs. a year working but what I have earned is more than enough and can saved a bit. No car but meron kaming sariling tinitirhan. Simple living ika nga and at anytime I can visit Pinas and I always do.

@@robocop581 I work on a piece work system. It's like the more you've processed the more you earned. In a good day we earned almost $400.00 but there's a catch usually only 3-4 days work lucky if we have five days in a week and also only 5-6 months busy the rest we called it slow down month.

Sad reality tlaga na ung iba nting kababayan spends more than what they really earn. Usually ang dahilan nila is YOLO. Partly its true but isn't that selfish if you have someone who's still relying on you for support? It gives me chills how some are able to cope up with their finances by paying only the minimum payment on their credit cards, not realizing that it could accumulate into an amount that they could no longer keep up. I fell uncomfortable if I can only pay 70% of what I owe kc nga ung 30% na di ko nabayaran eh papatong sa next bill, ano pa kya kung min payment lng gawin ko. I have seen friend's marriage crumble because one of them choose the YOLO mentality kc prang na culture shock sya ng malamang, kaya nyang makuha gusto nya kc nga nauutang. Nagbuhay single kung baga and ang nakaka disappoint pa d2 is, that person thought he is doing the right thing and flexing it in social media. Now they are in the process of annulment kung kelan p cla nakapunta d2 s CA at ng reunite. Sad.

Sadly, Filipinos are still not seen as ‘at par’ with Canadian talent in the job market. One still has to prove doubly-hard that you are capable of doing as good a job as a Caucasian applicant in the job market. I have seen this personally in the corporate world. Salaries then are not apples-to-apples despite the fact were normally more hardworking and more loyal in our jobs than other demographics. The indian subcontinent job applicants are in fact perceived better and get better wages than us. Were perceived as an easygoing, agreeable and adaptable ethic group, but still discriminated on job-wise like the Latinos in the US, as an example. Hopefully, the second and third generation children of immigrants fare better.

We should not glorify this kind of jobs! These are the people who are contented scrubbing other people's toilet for the rest of their lives instead of sacrificing few years of their lives by going to school and earn a degree to uplift their economic status. I pity them, kasi instead na maghangad sila ng magandang trabaho masaya na sila na taga linis lang sila.
