Thanks for the no BS tutorial man, really helpful! No surfskates, glad to see it. To engage the rail backside do you shift your feet so heels are closer to the inside rail?
Thanks for the feedback. Good question! Yes you can do that. For most people that is a bit difficult to do especially to reposition the feet for turns, but I do it and i do recommend it for the more advanced surfers 😊
You need to have weight on the inside rail. Parts of the transition you’ll have 50/50 weight distribution but a part of it you’ll need 50-70% on the back foot to pivot and drive up the wave 🙌
@@shannonainsliesurf on my back hand not by pumping but by actually doing a bottom turn n hitting the lip I can, but forehand I can only pump n can't bottom turn, I can trim but not carve like I can on backhand. Hope that makes sense I just woke up lol
@@al-dorifto1631 yes it makes sense. Check my tutorial on the frontside bottom turn. To do better turns you’ll need 2 important foundations. Speed and bottom turn. That should help.
@@shannonainsliesurf I have watched your frontside bottom turn video bro, I think my issue is to much weight on my front foot and my right shoulder n arm, n for some reason my backhand bottom turn I can get into a good body position but forehand I dunno if I panic that I won't get a good turn before a closeout or what but yea. I'm trying to get some coaching cuz I can't find anyone willing to video me so I can see what I look like
@@al-dorifto1631 ok thanks for the feedback. If you found someone to film you, or put your camera on the beach and record yourself, I can do some online coaching with you, see what you’re doing and give you some good guidance and feedback.
Thank very much, compress on heels dropping on toes is the best advice ever. Keep sharing your work!!!
Thanks Mina and good luck!

Thanks mate. Will keep it up 😊
I can only surf backhand as in turns. When I go forehand all I can do is pump
Oh but can you generate speed on your backside?
