      Thank you very much for your comment. No, we're not going to beat ourselves up. I just hate to talk like that about a place that we used to love. But it is what it is. They are the ones who decided to change.

    I appreciate your honest reviews. I usually visit the Smoky Mountains at least once a year and love to try new restaurants. I watch a good many food reviews and appreciate when others show both the good and the bad. With the prices most restaurants charge, I good to know what to expect when going to a new place. Keep up the good work, love your videos.

      Thank you for your appreciation of fair and balanced reviews. We believe customers deserve honesty.
      Occasionally, there will be somebody who doesn't understand the concept of being honest, and they think we are just trying to be critical and hurt businesses. We never try to hurt a business. And we certainly wouldn't want to do that to a place we have always loved in the past.
      We just tell what happened. Thank you for understanding that and for commenting.

    An honest review is always a good review. As expensive as everything is these days, people have a right to be warned of changes that they may not be expecting when they decide to go to a particular place that they've enjoyed in the past. If the new owners don't want coupons for their establishment included in the future, that's their right, but not honoring a coupon that people have already paid for isn't their best move.

      Yes, it is certainly their right. But since their restaurant is still listed on the website as one that does honor it, they should have. They have a right, and we also have the right to go elsewhere. We did. Review to come.

      I hope somehow they get wind of this and change their paid-for coupon not accepting policy. I mean, Why not accept them, as obviously the coupons coming in would have started to dissipate as time goes on, and they wouldn't have to worry about more coming in? Congratulations on the growth of your channel, btw!

      Thank you. Sorry for this type of review, but the new owner is making some changes that are very disappointing.
      To be honest, even one of the employees there told us that the workers had asked him to not make several of the changes he was making, because the customers wouldn't like it. One of those, was that he leave the zucchini fries on the menu as a side. Apparently, a lot of people liked them.

      I do believe they still have the gumbo, but I'm not sure about the other two items. We didn't see the gumbo on the menu at first, but I do believe we found it.

    Even up here in pa when new ownership takes over an establishment, it seems like the customer no longer matters. It's about making money. I've seen places come and go because of that attitude.. then the portions are cut in half. I could go on and on. Whether it's new ownership or not. They should honor the coupons for like 30 to 60 days and let folks know that we won't honor them as of March 15. It's not that difficult..

      We agree 100%. And the fact that they're still advertised on the website as honoring them, was kind of the disappointing thing.
      I also agree, that in too many cases, it becomes more about making money than the customer. They need to figure out that without customers, they won't be making money.

    Derrick and Shawnasi, this is one of the things that i love about you both, you are completely honest. You tell it the way it is, and don't sugar coat things. We can trust what you say, and it helps us all know whether that is a place we ought to try or not. It's a shame that you had this experience. The new owners are going to lose a lot of customers because they are not honoring their word. Thanks for being honest it benefits us all. God bless you both my friends. Keep up the great work.     Very honest and tactful review, hopefully the manager will see that their restaurant is still on the website offering the coupons and either start honoring them or get the website to take them off the list. Thanks for a honest and tactful review.

      What was your experience there?
      It is a shame that they are making changes that are costing them the business of repeat customers. I guess it is their mistake to make, but it is still sad.

      We never eat there but had restaurant did same thing here change owner and it went down hill it close now

      Very sad.

    There are lots of great eating places, but our favorites are a full package, atmosphere, service, ambiance, etc. when this changes we tend to look else where. Reducing the quality, variety and price structure in a service industry does not always work. They might get more customers initially but repeat customers are the life blood of small business.

      Agreed. Sadly, we will be looking elsewhere, and this was one of our favorites, that we stopped at every time we were in the area.

    I would suggest to go to PDQ for zucchini fries, but most of the PDQ's in NC are now changing to Whataburger. I think there are 2 PDQ's left and they are in Charlotte.

    We have been there 5 or 6 times with the last time being about 5 years ago. The menu that you shared looked pathetic. Where are our fried crawfish tails or the gator bites? We’re going to be in that area in about a month and have been talking about going back to Bayou….but not now. Thanks for your great review!

      You are very welcome. We honestly wanted to have, and were expecting to have, our usual great experience there. We did not want to have to leave this kind of review, but we do have to make others aware of the changes.
      Yes, the menu was far less than before. Although they still did have what Shawnasi and I usually get (minus the side item I had come to love), the fact I have to now pay $14.00 extra, just to get a smaller portion of what I could have gotten as a side before, and the fact they would not honor a coupon that we had paid for, was enough for us. Their restaurant was still clearly listed on the restaurants dot com website, as one that would honor them. And we had used them there before. The new owner just decided "no more". Well, we decided the same thing, as far as eating there.
      I did not notice what other items had been removed from the menu, but I am very sorry that they apparently removed some of the items that you also enjoyed. That is really sad.

    We have ate at the Italian restaurant across from here, we were not impressed and have not been back. But, that’s our opinion. We rather go to Boone to eat when we visit. We like staying in Banner Elk in cabins.

    The trouble with some Restaurants websites are they are never up to date . Menus, hours and update notices are irrelevant and misleading if not accurate. They should have honored yalls coupon . Not a good look on their part as "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT." They basically lost 2 customers for short term or long term for basically 1 free meal on yalls visit. They would have made up that profit loss due to that coupon many times over if they had done the right thing and honored it. I guess they couldn't see the forest for the trees as the old saying goes?

      Very true. We would have continued to go there on subsequent visits, even when we had no more coupons. I can tell you now, that at least one employee did not like the new changes, and let us know that several of them had asked the new owner to keep certain items on the menu, and they were not listened to.
      When I say that it's still on the website, I want to clarify that I'm not talking about the restaurant's website. I'm talking about restaurant.com, where she bought the coupons from. They have a list of restaurants that honor them, and this restaurant is still listed, as of tonight.
