I married a Thai lady 20 years ago , we worked together in Australia and saved money , Guess where she is now , Back in her home village in a new house , But that’s ok
I can't speak to gifting but agree with the perspective on gold. I'm now onboard with the rainy day/emergency/surprise fund concept. The wife and I were fortunate to have our stash when we were confronted with the surprise opportunity to snag the lot behind us. Gold provided quick access to extra cash. We pawned the gold and paid it off not long after with funds from home country. Very convenient.
I live in Thailand since 2 years and I have been coming here since the late nineties, you are spot on. In fact, you are dropping so many truth bombs in this video it's like watching the fire bombing of Dresden.
Hey rob ,i met a beautiful thai girl ,spent 3 days with her and then it was time to go home ,i had the holiday madness and thought wtf i know i will never see her again but fuck it and i went and bought her a £200 gold bracelet ,she was beautiful and £200 loss was not going to change my life ,well 9 years later and we are still together ,thai girls love gold 5555 oh by the way i am twice her age and fucking ugly ,thai girls really love gold
Spot on Rob, and on the sidenote, if you already met a girl and want to make her genuinly happy....buy her...or better yet, let HER buy Durian for ca 1000-1300 thb. THAT will put a smile on her face
My wife has being saving gold for 20 yrs. Buying little bit every year on holiday in Thailand. Now she has about 50K dollars worth of gold in her safe!
I knew an American that had a house built for his girlfriend and after it was finished he returned to Thailand and her family was living in it and she didn't want anything to do with him anymore. He was devastated
And that's why they call the red and gold shops the bank of Thailand were your new found love wants take you there and my ex thai girlfriend tried that on with me 2 years ago and no i didn't buy any gold for her.
I just send mine money anymore for like birthdays or whatever ,i tell her go find what you want and ill send you the money for it lol that way she can buy what she wants while im not there ,in fact the only thing i think my Gf has that i ever got her is her Apple watch and we have been together since 2017
I have never collected anything personal, but I have lived in 10 different countries and never take more then my laptop bag and 1 carry on size suit case. I have been with my GF for almost a year now, she already had a house before we met but any extra money she has gets is saved for a few months and then it's another build show lol. Gold I got her a ring then she swapped that for a bigger ring, and swap again for a bracelet.
Great info Rob ..I guess there are many Guys that wish They had this info before hand ... It's 6:52 a.m. East Coast Nags Head time for My ''' JIM BEAM ;;;...
Interesting about Thai people and Gold. But if you actually know anything about Gold you'd know Gold is NOT an investment. It's simply a hedge against inflation and a store of value. I own physical Gold and Silver for precisely those reasons. I invest in the S&P, et. al..
YES a girl needs a house, some gold & money but my advice is chose the woman wisely and take your time before making any gifts. Wait at least a year to make sure she is not a gold digger. Buy in stages too.
Showing of gold and wealth is very much a northeast or isaan thing i think not so much in the deep south were my wifes from, sure she has some gold but not for showing off more for investment
@@ThailandRobthat's funny, Rob when I was there many times in the 90's many Thai Women wanted to take me back to their village. And I was told bars of silver and or water buffalo
That’s great to know! Thanks dude, I’ll subscribe as soon as I finish this comment. 24k gold is really too soft for jewelry but darker skinned women look so good in high carat gold. I know Indian women live it as well. I’ll have to treat myself to a piece of jewelry when I’m there
My gift list to you!

Thanks Rob. Excellent information on Thai women priority of importance.

Sadly, a story I have heard many times.
As Gi Joe Would say, "Now you know. And knowing is half the battle"!
What is the other half?
Big heart - gave gold
You are absolutely correct about Thai women and gold. For the women practicing sin sod, gold is the dowry of choice.
And that's why they call the red and gold shops the bank of Thailand were your new found love wants take you there and my ex thai girlfriend tried that on with me 2 years ago and no i didn't buy any gold for her.
You can always pay off their SUV. Don't ask me how I know.😂😂😂😂
The ultimate gift for any woman (or man) in the Asiatic region is land or property.

Is gold expensive in Thailand? Is it good gold or cheap shit? 10 karat or 14 ,18, 24 karat.
Thai gold is generally 23 karat and is stamped with a “965”. This gold is 96.5% pure gold; the other 3.5% of metals are silver and bronze.
