Dude, Zeppelin were monsters. They could crush your skull with rock, they can tear your heart out with the blues and acoustic ballads they can transport you with epic otherworldly jams. And at the end of it all steal your lady. They are the blue print and have NEVER been matched

@@themadcow71 They WERE a “Supergroup”, after all… Page was the biggest guitarist in England, John Paul Jones was a huge session guy (and in the Yardbirds for an album), and Bonham was drummer for a big band, too. Only Plant wasn’t well-known. Crazy to think that Jimmy Page, at 19, had already been the biggest session player on the planet (ghost-played on half the huge hit records for both rock and blues), then… I guess he took a gap month, got it together, and formed the greatest hard rock band in history, and the future.

Not just the opening scene of Thor: Ragnarok, but also the major battle near the end. Trent Reznor created a cover with singer Karen O for the opening title sequence from the movie The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and when the Princesses stormed the castle in Shrek 3 there was a quick version of this where the Princesses used it as a war cry.

Robert Plant is the lead singer and the song-writer (he’s a huge LotR fan so his songs have huge influences from Tolkien).
Jimmy Page was lead guitarist and Plant’s mad scientist counter-part.
John Paul Jones was on bass.
And John Bohnam was drums. (his son stepped in to play with them in recent years to honor his dad)
Oh daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. I needed this with my coffeeeeee!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssss!!! I hope you LOVE it!!! Kashmir would be one I’d love to see you do (fans say Stairway to Heaven is Zeppelin’s magnum opus while I tend to agree with Plant and give that to Kashmir). And Misty Mountain Hop. And Ramble On.
Also, check out the battle of the bulge that went on between Plant and the lead singer of The Who. The tighter the pants the bigger the punch back. Those men had no shame.

He wrote the lyrics, but as far as I'm aware they all pitched in with writing the songs. JPJ wrote the structure of Black Dog, for example. The Rain Song... started with Page writing the guitar part, and Plant had a lyric he'd been kicking around for a while, so they put the 2 together. Same is true for most of LZ's songs... Battle of Evermore...Music written by JPJ (who plays all the mandolins on it).

"Immigrant Song" was written during Led Zeppelin's tour of Iceland, Bath and Germany in the summer of 1970. The opening date of this tour took place in Reykjavík, Iceland, which inspired Plant to write the lyrics. He explained in an interview: "We weren't being pompous ... We did come from the land of the ice and snow. We were guests of the Icelandic Government on a cultural mission. We were invited to play a concert in Reykjavik and the day before we arrived all the civil servants went on strike and the gig was going to be cancelled. The university prepared a concert hall for us and it was phenomenal. The response from the kids was remarkable and we had a great time. 'Immigrant Song' was about that trip and it was the opening track on the album that was intended to be incredibly different."
Six days after Led Zeppelin's appearance in Reykjavik, the band performed the song for the first time in concert during the Bath Festival.
A story goes that they actually wrote/baselined it actually on the plane on their way over to the next gig - who knows. But he hadn't played this song live for 28 years until a few years ago up here in Iceland at a festival as a tribute per-se.

Led Zeppelin is the result of the perfect alchemy between four men who had unique and incomparable talents. This is why there never was and never will be another band like LZ 🎶🎸🎤❤️🎸🎹🎵💚😍

when you have 4 of the greatest of all times in a band, you’re bound for greatness. Jones makes everyone’s top ten of best bassist, Page is always in top 3 guitarist, “Bonzo” Bonham is always in the top 1and 2 at drums and plant always cracks the top 5.

Those are Rock Gods! Robert Plant has such a clean voice this open air recording doesn't need a lot of cleaning up. I believe they are at a college campus HD was 23 at this performance. This was the first performance of this song after they wrote it in Iceland the day before. According to an interview I saw today Robert Plant (singer), Jimmy Page. ( Lead guitar) were in Bath England with an audience of 100-200k to show off this new song they wrote in Iceland a few days before. They are all calling the Norse Gods to Follow them to war and conquer western lands. Bass John Paul Jones, Drums John Bonham

Led Zeppelin was created by Jimmy Page, the guitarist, out of the embers of the Yardbirds. The Yardbirds themselves were a 60s band that were very much influenced by black American blues singers such as Robert Johnson and BB King. It’s also worth noting that the Yardbirds birthed three rock gods: Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. Both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck played together at one point in the Yardbirds. Led Zeppelin were originally called the New Yardbirds.

Good stuff! The performance you were watching was done in the Oakland Coliseum, California. And, yes, John "Bonzo" Bonham was simply incredible. Bonzo is generally ranked #1 on most "All-Time Greatest Rock Drummers" lists, and he was ahead of his time in how he played the drums, as well. A self-taught drummer since age 5, Bonzo and Robert Plant were once in NYC and stopped by a place that was frequented by MAJOR talented rock musicians who used to jam there.
One time Bonzo was wailing on the drums at the same NYC joint jamming with some guys, and none other than Jimi Hendrix was amazed by Bonzo's playing, so he introduced himself by telling Bonzo, "You know what? You got a foot like a rabbit" in reference to Bonzo's famous kick-drum work. Gotta remember that Hendrix met Bonzo at the NYC joint in 1968, before Zeppelin had put out their first album (1969), so Hendrix really didn't know who Bonzo, Plant or Led Zeppelin was, but the greatest rock guitarist ever (Hendrix) recognized greatness when he saw Bonzo doing his thing. Here is the link to the only time Hendrix and Bonzo met, as Hendrix unfortunately died in 1970. www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/jimi-hendrix-offered-led-zeppelins-john-bonham-feedback-drumming.html/

Since everyone obliged you with the name of all the band member, I'll add a bit of texture and a suggestion or two.
Robert Plant and a few others are shown under the definition of "Rock Star", almost as if the word exists because of them.
John Paul Jones is the most underrated bassist of all time, he is so nasty, but he never shows up on a best of list where he should be, by that I mean comfortably in the top 10. Check out "The Lemon Song" from the Led Zepplin II album, I suggest the studio version, pay special attention after Plant says "take it on down.."
John Bonham is the gold standard for many a drum player, famous or not, and most will tell you they started drumming after hearing a Zepplin album. One of his most iconic beats is "Fool in the Rain", it really highlights his crazy tight timing and just beautiful technique.
Now the part that will probably draw hate... I'm not a huge Jimmy Page fan. He is an absolute animal on the guitar, no doubt, and sure, at the time Zepplin was coming up in the UK his bluesy sound with that driving rock and roll feel that Bonham and Jones supplied was I am sure mind blowing, and I totally see why they were/are so popular, and deserve it. All that said, as the story goes (one of many I am sure) he got his love for the guitar in no small part from old black Southern blues guys of the 30's and 40's, who had albums that had made their way to the UK during the war, and as you will hear in a lot of Zepplin it is for sure a large influence on his playing. The problem is that he "may" have took a little more than influence from them, I'll just leave it there because it changes NOTHING as far as how talented he and the band are, and I have no problem separating the man from the music. I may not be a big Page fan, but I FUCKING LOVE Led Zepplin. Also, he really does do the blues thing well, check out "Traveling Riverside Blues", it will make you want to eat a fried catfish sandwich and lay back with a jug of moonshine.

Led Zeppelin is said to have set the standard for Rock Star debauchery, and decadence. Travelling in a jet called The Starship to shows, groupies, partying, and playing a set in between. The Rock n' Roll lifestyle if you had what it took to reach those heights. The drummer died in 1980, from choking on his vomit during his sleep, after a heavy night of drinking, and the group broke up right after. They only tried coming back together again 3 times since 1980. The last was in 2007, with the former drummers son, Jason Bonham sitting in for his dad.
