@6:20 dude had me dying laughing! So fkn hilariously put! "Build back yor broken-ass houses....!" hilarious My first experience with LZ was in my dad's 64 Chevelle SS. He just installed a new sound system this was late 70s circa 1980, and he took me to a race-track with him on a Saturday night in Sacramento, CA. I was 8. He cranked "When the Levee Breaks" which is still one of my all time favs to this day. Immigrant Song later became my #1 fav by LZ; my highschool mascot was Vikings (same school my daughter and son went to) and they would play that scream over the loudspeakers before game or after great plays, etc. Love the comment of it being "generational wealth" Very clever to philosophize it that way.
They were actually called the unholy trinity because heavy rock was considered the devil's music. The Zep boys supposedly sold their souls to the devil and hid satanic messages within Stairway to Heaven using reverse tracking (both false). Black Sabbath by virtue of their name, their dark lyrics and heavy, anarchic music, and Deep Purple, I think, mostly because they fit in well with the genre. They were loud and heavy but not especially threatening.
Love you guys. Your analysis is deep as hell. "Generational wealth" is an amazing idea concerning music. Yes! Your tremendous take on songs of my generation, and relating it to Kendrick, etc., makes me want to listen to your guys, in return. THIS is what reaction videos should be - both "sides" getting to the emotions of the others. THANK YOU.
Love your reaction. Greatest band EVER guys. Go deeper, you won't regret 🎶 No Quarter, Achilles Last Stand, The Rain Song....there's still so much to hear 🎉 good journey 😊😊
The first time I heard Led Zeppelin was in 1969, when I was a freshman in high school. I was a fan immediately. I was fortunate to see them live in 1975. By then, I knew every word to every song they performed. This song spoke to my Viking roots!
You guy's have the Zeppelin rock going through your souls I watch your reaction to the music and can feel the beat that runs through you both welcome to my generation of what music 🎧 was if I was with you both we'd all have the same rhythm to the songs you are both adorable young men keep listening watch a full concert and you will never turn back ❤❤️ 😘 😍 ♥️ Over medicaided momma! 👍
Kashmir & Dazed & Confused. The Immigrant Song is short, but I think you’ll recognize it, it’s been in several movies. The Band went to Iceland, & became interested in the Viking invasions, maybe more so the invasion of England. The song was written more as a joke, but fans love it, it opened many of their earlier concerts. Later the song Rock & Roll became their opening song. Can’t wait to see your reaction.
It's 1971, I'm a 14 year old kid who has heard pretty much all of Led Zeppelin's first two albums!! Originally introduced to Led Zeppelin by radio play of songs like Whole Lotta Love, I had the second album first and THEN I went and got the FIRST album!! My method of listening was through headphones on a cassette deck attached to an FM receiver!! So I anxiously purchased the new Led Zeppelin 3, I get home, put the tape into the deck, adjust the volume on my headphones, lay back and.... THIS is what I hear!😮😮❤❤ The third Led Zeppelin album, in my opinion, is where Led Zeppelin began to take a different Road, unlike Black Sabbath who remained on the road of heavy guitar rhythms, distorted guitar, and differently tuned guitar for that different sound that we associate with "heavy metal"!! It's hard to explain the feelings that I felt as a 14-year-old listening to THIS song for the first time, and Led Zeppelin III for the first time!!❤❤ I'm really enjoying you guys journey through this music that I listen to as a youngster, younger than you guys are now!!😮😮
Tool's rendition of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter is amazing. Maybe try some more Tool. 46 and 2, Right In Two, Sober,The Grudge don't watch the videos though thankfully there aren't many. A Perfect Circle might be worth checking out too. Wardruna's Helvegan featuring Aurora. Toadies Possum Kingdom is good. Primus and Pusifer you should be eased into. Hope this helps you on your journey. Oh and check out Journey 😉😂
do the live 1972 version...one of the best jam sessions ever..they rock out and showcase their musicianship..good to compare the studio version with the live one
I remember buying this album when it first came out in 8-track forum and the first time when I came home from overseas is 1970 or 71 71 I took my first hit of acid double barrel on Sunshine listen to this album until the best of Steppenwolf in a cemetery I hallucinated for over 3 hours it freaked me out but it was cool when it was over with
Oh you're stirring up some memories my friend!! 1975 I was 18 years old I went to a Pink Floyd concert and I took something that was called Strawberry Fields, it was a little acid tablet!! I was peaking when Pink Floyd went into the song Echoes!! I'll never forget the feeling and what was going on!! Pink Floyd had the quadraphonic setup in an outdoor venue, a stadium, and they had the sound going around in a circle and at one point I actually thought that I was in a flying saucer getting ready to lift off!!😮😮😂 All those were the days!!❤❤
Oh yeah I remember Strawberry Fields 1975 I was 24 years old awesome member during that time they had one called White illusion you could still if you could get it go out to California you could get some purple haze Amanda Purple Haze had a little bit of strychnine in it twisted your your thoughts or your imagination but it was pretty cool
Hammer of the Gods ! I can tell you guys do your homework on these songs i am 53 and respect you all for that and you guys are very smart on what the songs mean and give you ! GOD bless you all !
The story behind this song was Led Zep viewed themselves as conquerors when traveling to different nations while on tour. Specifically one of the Nordic nations in particular but I can't remember which one lol
For many of us Brits who were teenagers in the early 70's Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were the Yin and Yang of greatness! If you want the "most typical" Floyd check out :- "Money" (audio only version) from the album The Dark Side of the Moon. Album charted for over 17 years.... yes years! If you want to experience the Pink Floyd trip, check out :- "Shine on You Crazy Diamond parts 1-5" If you want to see the guys playing Live in an ancient Roman Amphitheatre with No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics just Gods playing to the Gods Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972
A great series to watch that shows the Viking invasion is Netflix’s The Last Kingdom. It’s the best series I’ve ever watched, & I’ve watched so damn many. It’s actually in my top three favorite, of theater movies & series, I highly recommend it. Led Zeppelin does so many different genres, & do them to perfection. Drummer John (Bonzo) Bonham has been called the hammer of the GODS, & with these GODS Of MUSIC he certainly is. Thank you again for your reaction. Next checkout Dazed & Confused or Kashmir or Achilles Last Stand.
It always helps to put things in context so you can put the pieces together in your head. This dropped on 10/5/70 for a rock music industry that was suffering from a gaping void created by life changing events. The Beatles broke up, and then you had the deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin, and Jim Morrison (frontman for the doors). LZ dove headfirst into this chasm and didn't come back up again for air until they lost their drummer; 9/80. They announced soon after they could not and would not continue without him and thus ended one of the greatest runs in music history! Do the live version! (72 world tour, someone below mentioned it might be listed as the official video on the site)
This song can be seen as Vikings on a rampage conquering land. I see it as Zeppelin taking the western world by storm with music that was completely different from pop radio, and eventually becoming one of, if not the greatest rock band of all time. Yes they were like Vikings on a rampage
opening an album back then was always fun, but the LZ3 album was particularly interesting. it had this pinwheel behind the cover that spun around so different pictures would come into holes that were cut in the cover. very psychedelic design. you could play with it for hours, trying to figure out what all the pictures meant.
"Generational wealth" is quite apt. This life is a weird ride. I'm thankful for the seat I got on it because I got to see the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s before the culture I grew up in began to wane. So, dig it, y'all. Peace.
@ostrichman You need to hear more of their bsides and not just the overplayed hits. Listen to 'Nothing to Say' , 'Kickstand' , 'Power Trip' , 'Bleed Together' , 'Searching with my Good Eye Closed' , 'Slaves and Bulldozers', 'Drown Me In You' and that's just tipping their bsides iceberg... Give em a listen and then tell me they're tedious.
There's some miss info on the Norse people. No hate. They raided because they didn't have a lot of resources in Norway. One big thing that people get wrong is viking!! Being viking was an action. Not wait they called them self's. Viking is what they did when they raided other countries. I'm a mixed breed mut lol. Norwegian, Native American, Irish, Scottish, English Mut. I love to learn about all cultures. Again no hate that's just the way that people remember them for the most. They did trade with other cultures and didn't murder them lol. They where actually the first people to sail to the American. Long before Columbus. They have Found many norwegian colonies in the americas. Love the videos guys.
I grew up in those 70s and when Led Zeppelin exploded, some absolutely batshit parents started a whole thing that their music was really Satan trying to communicate with their teenagers.
This song is about the Norseman Iceland the Blackfoot Cherokee tribe in America were actually Vikings the Apache and Comanche were European descent I'm black put Cherokee and I'm also from the tribe of Ephraim
The Vikings came from the north and ships as marauders. They killed all the men and took the women away and stole all the valuables and said we will be back so you better behave until then. They rolled over peaceful villages as berserkers. That's pretty much what this song's about. They were not the kind of immigrants anyone wanted to see in Europe.
why called Immigrant Song? Because the Vikings initially came to Britain to raid, pillage ...grab wealth, rape and fight for glory. After a couple hundred years of tha, and terrorizing much of Northern Europe they actually came to settle and became farmers ...mainly in the "fields so green" of northwest England. The raiders, eventually became immigrants. Robert Plant, along with all English kids, learned this history in School. England is a land that has known many invasions through the centuries....from the Romans conquering the Brits.....then the Angles and the Saxons coming over from Germany and driving out the Brits to Wales and far west England....to the Vikings in the 700-900 hundreds, to the French Normans in 1066. It's a rich history, and you can still see the difference between the feel of the Celtic Brits and the Germanic Angles (English). England = "Angleland". And then the French. Robert Plant was an avid student of British history as well as Norse and Welsh mythology, and you can see that in many of his lyrics. More than you wanted to know perhaps, but you spoke of how cool it was that you learn history though this music, so I thought I'd take you at your word.
@BBaldwin hell no. They dig sabbath and metallica already. They got this lol. I just don't want them to do Kashmir next. Good song, but I doubt it would translate to a good reaction video, as the song is somewhat repetitive and slow, which I'm NOT suggesting those qualities equate to a song being bad lol

They wrote this after a tour in Iceland. If you listen carefully they have a 2 bar phrasing which lends to a feeling of a boat crashing thru waves.
One of the greatest bands to come out of the UK.
This is sooo much better than rap!! Cmon now❣️
You guys should react to "In The Light" and "When The Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin.
