    Had a 2004. Loved it!
Couple things from the video -
The trunk is so small because for the American Market the gas tank was too close to the rear bumper for safety regulations. So instead of being horizontal they had to mount it vertical killing a lot of the trunk space. It wasn't eaten up by the rear seats.
Also, that model has the Sports Appearance Package (SAP) different front bumper and grill inserts. A different spoiler was offered as well but this one doesn't have it.

Sap kit also included different rear bumper, side skirts, and exhaust tips.

The trunk doesn’t have a lot of room not due to the seats, but due to the fact that, upon importing the car, Federal USA guidelines made it to so they had to relocate the fuel tank into the trunk. It had been placed below instead, and so it cut the trunk space in half or more

The trunk is small because of location of gas tank. Good review. I have 2006 same color with 6 speed. Bought new and still love it. Interior way better then mustang of the same time.

Also behind that vertical carpet cover in the trunk sets the gas tank, then the back seats.

They are great cars! Just a fun car to drive everyday and the interior is killer plus the power is great! Have to say it is one of my favorite cars all time, and that doesn't always equal power. Some cars with more power are sloppy and feel bad. These GTO's are amazing with the power, feel, handling, etc.. Just awesome IMO!

Funny that he calls out the dated steering wheel from the late 90s cause this was a repurposed car from Australia that debuted in 1999 first known as the Commodore and later the Monaro. The "Euro styling" is also the fact that this car was manufactured in Australia.

    • @paulsz6194

The Pontiac G8 & the Chevy SS are commodores as well. The GTO is a coupe version of the late 90’s- mid 2000’s Holden commodore. The HSV versions are the most coveted.

The 2004 factory LS1 with the LS6 intake was said to have 350 hp 360 tq stock but was more like 360/360. I have owned a 2004 for 12 years and it'll put out 400+ hp and 400+ (the dyno I had mine on said 450 tq but...) tq with a throttle body, LT headers, exhaust (with high flow cats), OTRCAI and a tune.
I've held on to it because it's the last stand alone one off car GM will probably ever make. Also, nothing is going come out of GM to make it the "old model" and its appearance has held up well imo. Everything these days is angular, blocky and recent safety regulations make the proportions unbecoming imo.

I own a '05 manual GTO that I bought new. 2005 not only added the LS2 it also got upgraded Corvette brakes. Mine has 44k miles on it now and it's been rock-solid reliable. Nothing more than routine maintenance has been required. It rides very nice, making highway trips a breeze. It gets 24mpg on the highway. The only gripe is Pontiac is out of business and parts are drying up.

    G’day from down under!
Just wanted to give you a bit of a hand with the Aussie name.
If it was bought as a Holden it would be a Mon-ah-ro.
If it was bought as a HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) it was called a HSV Coupe and would then be either a GTO or a GTS.
These names both only apply to the 2 door version.
Otherwise it’s a Commodore or a HSV variant of that.

Out of curiosity, what was the feel down there when GM closed Holden? Was it that big a deal or not? I think most here didn’t really care too much about Hummer and Oldsmobile names going, but Pontiac over Buick was not a good domestic US choice IMHO. At the end of the day, they are all GM parts bin cars for the most part. Switchgear and interiors across the board from that era were not great.
