When i went vegan, i completely switched my diet to consist of primarily asian style food; the long history of buddhism in that region of the world means that vegan food in that style is infinitely more delicious than western style food! I started converting maangchi recipes to vegan versions and i eat delicious food every day, i'm so much happier now than i was before

I have a p similar story - coming from the Midwest, we use a lot of meat and processed foods (as Americans do) in our daily cooking, so veganism introduced me to a lot of new dishes and new ways of preparing food. Even if people aren't interested in being fully vegan for whatever reason, if it's accessible to you it's worth checking out vegan recipes from areas that have been doing it forever

They do not farm sustainably. Both her parents have full time job, her grandparents probably small government pensions and she wasn't happy at all when had to gave up a regular job and comfortable city life for a personal reasons or maybe deteriorating grandfather's health. Like many poor people they stick to the farm to save penny on grocery but would eagerly change this your dream for your reality. Sorry to burst your bubble.
I guess I should’ve been more specific when I said sustainably. I realize that they have other jobs, but I like how they are able to use what they grow, barter for or forage, you know what I mean? But they are not totally reliant on a grocery store to provide them with their daily sustenance.

Stick to your "interior" life and when you have enough money buy yourself a dream you like. Next you may believe it's what they must endure. But first name sure you'll have running water, electricity and back up plan if crops fail. Ah, and make sure an ambulance can reach you in 15 min, not after 3h or next day.

Home made doesn't necessarily mean healthy. There are a lot of people who cook at home but eat a lot of deep fried meals, full of saturated fat and calories. Even if you use fresh and natural ingredients, deep frying them or eating too much meat and carbohydrates makes them unhealthy
