Honeyman, was a beautiful gem that was hardly noticed by the public, but musicians saw his talent. He knew how to put a song together, and was a huge part of the Pretenders success.
I had a band that went heavy on Pretenders . Thats how I found the old channel all those years ago, shhhesssh it's been a while now eh, anyways still great!!! JHS was a genius
Great taste, James ... this Honeyman-Scott (what a loss) arrangement of this Pretender's tune always blew me away. Such a great song and your playing ... excellent.
Awesome JJ! One of my fave tunes and solos of all time! Don't Get Me Wrong also one of my faves by them but those first two Pretenders records were literally 🔥🔥🔥
You got the jangle going. This is such a cool song and solo. I never heard a word from JHS but I love his music. This one's going in the lesson file. Thanks JJ.
Hi James, I hope you're well. I want to thank you for your lesson No Quarter Led Zeppelin from your old channel. You made it much easier for me to learn. And thank you for all of your lessons and uploads! Your playing has brought the joy of playing guitar back to me! Peace :)
hi james! been a fan for such a long time. btw this question is kinda irrelevant but whats the best acoustic guitar under 500? kinda need some help coz i been planning to get a new one. thanks!
@@silvermanewesleyjohn2844 There are plenty of Gretsches you can get used for $400. Pickups might be a little muddy on the lower-end models, but they're great guitars for the money and pickups are easy to swap out.
He did the solo for this one on Chrissie's Tele, but I think he used the Firebird in the promo video if I remember correctly. He also used a few Zamaitis custom builds, Les Pauls, and a 345.
heartbreaking tune. Chrissie's harmonies - OMG! and the chords - whew. I love that you did authentic, hint of reverb? and I maybe wrong. but it looked like you fighting a little in the last verse. I like that - if you love music, make it happen. failure is not an option. great lesson. Ü ♫
This is, without a doubt, my all time favorite guitar solo.
Bill Cupp.. I think Tom Scholtz of Boston is just as good- esp More Than A Feeling.
That guitar solo is fantastic, jangly goodness

honeyman and Chrissy I think. She had the base song and he put that sparkle on top. Probably the key changes too
James Honeyman-Scott was amazing. What a great solo.
I heard this song in a CVS the other day and it stopped me in my tracks. It is SO beautiful. Thanks for your perfect version!!

I adore JHS. Such a stupid waste.
Only, wow. For the arrangement, solo and for Chrissie Hynde who I don't think gets the recognition she deserves.
Thanks, James.

Very Nice job. This is one of my favorite songs
Johnny Marr said that he warms up before shows by playing the solo to this track.
jhfrudd The solo sounds like it could fit into Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others
@@shtan5583 yes!!
It's something Johnny would write
Honeyman Scott was the real deal, very creative.
Nailed the solo!
David Rappaport Should have had one more go at it.
@@jamesjames9275 is that a Dm7?
@@silvermanewesleyjohn2844 That's how I play it, yes.
Also just noticed the key change was at the start of the solo. Pretty tricky.
An absolute classic. Thanks!
Sounds great- love me some Pretenders and the Gretsch is very beautiful.

One of my all time favourite songs! Thanks for doing this.
Wow! Excellent!!
Your collection of guitars is killer. Love all the content you put up as well. Thanks man.
Love this so much!!!!!
A favorite! Thanks for posting.
Absolutely beautiful. *applauds*
Great work as always
Excellent! Thank you! 😀🎸👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome! Love the tone.
Great work
I love that shirt. Too cool. Thanks.

Nice job James!
Fantastic! Thx 👍
Hello James,
You always make me smile.
Thank you
jcw
Go On Lad! Yes what a little solitary soulfull Child
that Gretsch was just right. Thank you.
Awesome!
Nice job. James Honeyman Scott. Such a loss. So young. Johnny Marr has said he often sound checks with this solo.
Really nice to see that Gretsch Falcon
Beautiful job! If you did 10 Pretenders songs in a row, you'll get no complaints from me ;)
Nice!!!!
The Pretenders! So cool
Good job
Man, I really miss Jimmy everytime I hear that solo.
Bravo! 👏🏻
Top picking
Great cover..!
I think I play G11th on the first G.
Yet for some reason I completely missed the last part...thank you.

Lower-end Martin dreadnoughts are darn good guitars.
Nice one, but I guess it would sound more "correct" on a Tele. But that's a sweet axe anyway. I've got like 3 Gretsch's LOL.
The studio recording sounds like a Tele going directly into the board.
And now I want a gretch 😭
Poor man's copy- my Epi Wildkat Royale. Not in the same class, but very much like a Gretsch. I love it!

Do you have a non-reverse Firebird? I know JHS favored playing one of those.
He did the solo for this one on Chrissie's Tele, but I think he used the Firebird in the promo video if I remember correctly. He also used a few Zamaitis custom builds, Les Pauls, and a 345.
