South Korea is not closed to visitors. In fact, it was a country that didn't ban all overseas visitors outright. Certain visitors were banned from the start, namely 'foreign nationals who have been in Hubei province in China within the previous 14 days are not permitted to enter South Korea.' Of course, it did have a quarantine requirement. For example, of 25 Aug 2020: 'All other foreign short-term travellers must quarantine at a government-designated facility for 14 days on arrival. Arrivals from the USA and Europe will be tested on entry before transferring to the quarantine facility; arrivals from elsewhere will move to the quarantine facility and be tested within 14 days. Individuals are required to pay a daily charge of around 100,000KRW while in government quarantine facilities.' This was imposed after several visitors violated the required 14 days of self-isolation that was imposed in 1 April 2020. Requirements adjusted: In January 2021, all foreigners arriving in Korea had to carry a negative PCR test declaration. The PCR test must be conducted no more than 72 hours prior to the passenger’s scheduled departure. Anyone without a negative test declaration will be denied entry to Korea. As of 24 Feb 2022: 'All travellers - Testing on arrival: All foreign nationals arriving in South Korea are required to provide a negative PCR test certificate. The test must have been taken within the 48 hours prior to departure. All arrivals - including children under the age of six, and regardless of nationality and length of stay - are also required to be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) within 24 hours after entering South Korea. If you are not resident in South Korea, you will be taken for testing and must remain at the testing facility until a negative result has been secured. If your test on arrival is negative, you can proceed onto quarantine. . . . short-term travellers must quarantine at a government-designated facility for seven days. Individuals are required to pay a daily charge of around 120,000KRW while in government quarantine facilities.'
I flew Finnair from HEL to HKG on a A350 in Y class a few years ago . The cabin service was excellent . I would definitely recommend Finnair for long haul flights .

Just a few days ago, I booked Finnair BizClass seats (using 57.5K AA miles) for my husband and me for a nonstop flight from MIA to ARN next November. We chose seats 4A and 5A, rather than sit together in the middle. OK - now to watch...

I have flown Finnair many times connecting in Helsinki to China & USA. The benefit is that you get 80TP between LHR - HEL. The business class is underrated, but the cabin is clean and also in terms of price a cheaper option compared to other Oneworld carriers. Well worth flying with. 👍💯✈
This just reminds me of Finland in general. Okay maybe not super glamorous and over the top luxury, but clean classic design, great execution and comfortable simplicity.
Totally agree with your experience. I discovered Finnair biz class in 2017 going to Singapore from Chicago. It was a great experience. It is a toss up between Qatar/Emirates or Finnair these days. Now, if only the Helsinki airport offers more to do and see, I think it would make the northern european route a lot more memorable!!
The Finnair product offering reminds me a lot of KLM, which is a massive compliment, as I’m a huge fan of KLM. I will be on a Finnair flight tomorrow (BKK -> DUB via Helsinki). Fortunately will be at the front of the aircraft with my family!
Flew Finnair on both of my visits to China. Sure having to stop and change flights in Helsinki in a 30min from landing to take-off is quite stressful but the service and quality of the airline is really good. Makes a 9 hour flight quite nice.
There’s a stowage locker in the armrest. And I agree, there’s so many nordic touches in Finnair. When you fly into Helsinki, they will even put up the ‘northern lights’ cabin light which is my favourite!

Wow, you got a Finnish crew (how was their Swedish speaking skills?). Normally Asian crew work on these Southeast Asian routes. I've flown with the flight attendant (3:39) working the aisle; he was on my last Finnair flight in February 2020. Fun fact about the glassware. The iittala Ultima Thule glassware set was designed for the inaugural Helsinki-New York flight on Finnair. Marimekko glassware is a fairly recent addition and again designed specifically for Finnair. A confession: the glassware was what got me to switch from Star Alliance to Oneworld. Plus, on my first Finnair flight in 2009, they offered free Suunto watch which I still have to this day.
I did the Stockholm-Bangkok flight on December 3rd, my first flight with Finnair and first business class flight, on their A350 too and I have to say I was very impressed.

Good review and agree - Finnair is a very good European airline. It's been our carrier of choice from the West Coast of the US to Eastern Europe. HEL is a great transit airport and the Finnair lounges (esp their Platinum Wing) are a delight. As for the plane, I agree that the interior is very Nordic and it is incredibly soothing. The iittala glassware is gorgeous and we have bought items from that same collection for our home to remind us of the onboard experience - very unique! And the FAs do a fantastic job of balancing being attentive without being overbearing. Also, I love their slippers - they are big and they LAST! We have kept them and used them extensively for travel and they don't fall apart. Where I think Finnair does fall short is with the hard product, and specifically the footwell of the seat. It's just incredibly narrow and it prevents anyone who is approaching 6 feet from sleeping comfortable in more than one position. I've had this problem on other A350s and Dreamliners and I guess there are limitations to how big the footwells can be in a herringbone layout but after half a dozen+ flights on AY, I can definitively say that this is an issue.
I’m glad you have good experience with them overall - I agree the seat isn’t perfect but compared to many other transatlantic options, I still prefer this!

I flew Finnair for the first time in December and got one of those insanely cheap fares $268 RT Los Angeles-Tallinn and I was so pleasantly surprised. It was clean, simple, smooth, and decent. Will fly them again!

I flew with them for the first time at Christmas. We went business and the crew were great. On the way back we had the worst experience with any airline. I am disabled and we always travel business class. The ground staff in Helsinki told me to submit a complaint which I’m in the process of doing. Going back to Thailand this Christmas and may give them another go.
Great job Dan ! I go way back with Finnair when they flew the minor league ice hockey team I was the starting goaltender for on one of 2 DC-10's they had at the time from NY JFK to Helsinki on to Turku, and then back to the USA. I ended up as most of my teammates did with a Finnish " girlfriend" we were quite popular over there even competing against and defeating the best teams they had to offer at the time, and it turned out that the Finnair pilot who flew us there and back was her father and Finnair check airman on the DC-10. My team joked that we would never make it back because of me, but we did and they are such wonderful people who to this day over 30 years later I stay in touch with. Thanks again for the video just great !
Loved Finnair when I used them to and from Helsinki a couple of years ago. Hope to get a chance to fly with them again. And I loved their map as well as the European movies that are so rare to find in Australia.
I'm a minor and recently had to use the unaccompanied minor service, it was great, i got priority, was the 1st on board, got a pillow and blanket for the flight and also got complimentary coke, i also got to sit in business before disembarking

Fantastic review Dan! Booked a flight from HEL-SIN Biz Class using my Qantas points for May, Super excited for it as it will certainly be a change to my usual choices of Singapore Airlines or Emirates. Plus I have the added bonus that I finally get to fly in a A350!
I feel the losing the AirPods 😂 I flew business a few weeks ago from Zurich to NYC and during landing my phone FLEW out of my hand. The flight attendants spent at least 10 minutes searching for it. Finally one very helpful flight attendant found it with a flashlight under the carpeting 😯. I was so thankful and impressed!
There's enclosed storage on your right in the seat, next to the arm rest. This is where the headphones you get from the airline are. I did not have to stow the monitor last 2 times I travelled (HKI - Phuket return) in Feb/March this year (although I have needed to stow the screen on prior flights).

I do like the design elements of Finnair’s amenity kit, tableware and bedding. It’s simple yet brings a unique feel to the cabin.

For me Finnair bumped KLM of the top spot for business class in Europe.
Still both are far better than any other European based airlines.
Nice to see a positive review for a change.
I flew with them for the first time at Christmas. We went business and the crew were great. On the way back we had the worst experience with any airline. I am disabled and we always travel business class. The ground staff in Helsinki told me to submit a complaint which I’m in the process of doing. Going back to Thailand this Christmas and may give them another go.
Great job Dan ! I go way back with Finnair when they flew the minor league ice hockey team I was the starting goaltender for on one of 2 DC-10's they had at the time from NY JFK to Helsinki on to Turku, and then back to the USA. I ended up as most of my teammates did with a Finnish " girlfriend" we were quite popular over there even competing against and defeating the best teams they had to offer at the time, and it turned out that the Finnair pilot who flew us there and back was her father and Finnair check airman on the DC-10. My team joked that we would never make it back because of me, but we did and they are such wonderful people who to this day over 30 years later I stay in touch with. Thanks again for the video just great !
I flew PVG-HEL and man, Finnair's blanket is the warmest one I have ever had on any airlines.

Loved Finnair when I used them to and from Helsinki a couple of years ago. Hope to get a chance to fly with them again. And I loved their map as well as the European movies that are so rare to find in Australia.

I'm a minor and recently had to use the unaccompanied minor service, it was great, i got priority, was the 1st on board, got a pillow and blanket for the flight and also got complimentary coke, i also got to sit in business before disembarking

I've just booked Finnair return to Europe (ex. SE Asia) in May and I'm now so excited! It's the new seat though, which I hear divides opinion...
The A350 cabin looks sleek and the Marimekko bedding is an especially nice Finnish touch. I used to fly Finnair on inner European routes but never transatlantic, unfortunately.
I flew Finnair in economy between Copenhagen and Helsinki and it was amazing. The blueberry juice was so good!

Fantastic review Dan! Booked a flight from HEL-SIN Biz Class using my Qantas points for May, Super excited for it as it will certainly be a change to my usual choices of Singapore Airlines or Emirates. Plus I have the added bonus that I finally get to fly in a A350!

Even as a loyal one world member, Finnair wasn’t really on my radar before this video.. now I’m searching flights and dreaming of blueberry juice!
I feel the losing the AirPods 😂 I flew business a few weeks ago from Zurich to NYC and during landing my phone FLEW out of my hand. The flight attendants spent at least 10 minutes searching for it. Finally one very helpful flight attendant found it with a flashlight under the carpeting 😯. I was so thankful and impressed!

There's enclosed storage on your right in the seat, next to the arm rest. This is where the headphones you get from the airline are.
I did not have to stow the monitor last 2 times I travelled (HKI - Phuket return) in Feb/March this year (although I have needed to stow the screen on prior flights).
You need to do a review on the new finair Buisness class when it launches it looks like a space ship
