4 hugs, yes, that’s the important part to take away here. Please excuse the bitterness, there’s a mostly empty bottle of ouzo, a half empty box of Kleenex, and a heavy bag that has my knuckles imprinted in it....along with some bruises. I’m slightly unhappy with CRWBY.

Jaune was happy for too long. Can't have anyone that optimistic for more than 2 volumes I guess. This was much more haunting than the Pyrrha situation. Not to mention this is gonna really mess up Ruby. Her best friend killed her other best friend.

Penny's death is on cinder's hands. What Juane did was so she can choose who the power goes to. Honestly, it wasn't a fair request, that had to be traumatizing.
Most of Grimm's Fairy Tales have tragic or gruesome ends.... they weren't originally ment to be light hearted and uplifting but rather ment to keep kids in line through fear.....i love rwby because it takes these children's horror stories and uses them to teach the value each life has and that no mater how hard it gets you fight on and move forward.
Penny's story is sad but its also beautiful and hopeful in the end she got everything she ever wanted, she had friends who saw her her as so much more than a machine then she finally got to feel what it was like to be truly alive and make her own choices..... the saddest part is that she died thinking most of her friends had died in that battle which is why she chose winter to get the power she thought ruby was dead... and omg her song friend made me cry as much or more than the episode....

My theory is that weiss and jaune will stay in one part of the island, ruby, blake and neo in another part, and yang in another part also but alone. I think weiss will be the person who will help jaune go through this terrible time of having killed penny, while ruby and neo fight and argue about her not having killed Roman and Yang explores the island and likely that she will be the person to find a possible new character

Honestly I can't decide if I want that or if I would hate that. I think Jaune will be the one who ultimately kills Cinder, but I think he'll go through a volume or two where we see him wrestling with himself over Penny's death. His inspiration-and namesake, Joan of Arc-is famously quoted as having said her sword would never shed the blood of an innocent. Immediately after killing Penny, his sword is broken. If that's not intentional symbolism, I don't know what is.
18:40 Jaune sent Nora through the portal. He told her to go get any Huntsman/Huntresses that could help and bring them back, not realising they couldn't come back through from Vacuo. Also, you've probably found out by now, but the song at the end credits, 'Friend', is Penny's song!

I was surprised at first that Cinder killed Wats but it actually makes sense; because he the last person who knows what Cinder really did and she can't have him spilling the beans about her lies to Salem so she had no choice but to kill him to silence him ;)
plus she just straight up hated the guy, along with Neo so getting rid of them while gaining this victory is just three birds with one stone, I mean I’m pretty sure Salem is possibly aware she lied or something but she doesn’t care cause she’s impressed with the victory

If Watts really is dead, I think that's quite the loss for Salmes factions. After all, they've got a lot of fighters and more are easy to come by. But few, and probably no one Salem could get to join her, are as good at technology as Watts was.
There in much worst shape than they think. Watts and hazel are dead, Emerald has defected, Neo will never trust work with them again and Mercury is definitely not on board with Salem's endgame. They only have Salem, Tyrian and Cinder now, unless they have backup. Cinder keeps piling up the stupid decisions.
@@KitsyX Ay. But let's also not forget that while the kingdom is gone, it's people, including the ones who studied its technology, are still alive. Technology can always be rebuild, as long as the knowledge on know how to do it still exists. Also, if I remember correctly, the virus Cinder and her team used in Vol. 2 and 3 was made by him. And we all know its importance to the fall of Beacon.

I got the feeling that the place Team Rwby, Jaune and Neo are is some how connected with the vaults and thats how the get back to the others in the end
If that's true, then they'll have to exit using the Atlas vault door, so hopefully that's still intact. Hopefully Qrow and his group go down looking for survivors. (Technically they could also exit through the vault in Mistral since that's also still open but it's so far away from everyone else I don't think that'll happen.)
My Wonderland theory is that the 6 of them (plus any surviving random people who got thrown off by Cinder), take on new character forms in the magical place, and lose their original memories. But somehow, they will feel out of place and something not quite right. Eventually something will jolt their memory back, like finding their weapons from their previous life. That is when they realise they don't belong there, and need to find their way back home. Time will flow at a different rate in that magical place. It's entirely possible those 6 may live out entire lifetimes there, but only a short time passed in Remnant. When they return back to Remnant, they will revert back to their youthful forms, but retain a lifetime of experience, hence changing them. How do they make it back? It will be through the vaults but from the other side. They will figure out that the other world is connected to the vaults, and so make their way to the sword of destruction. Then they enter Shade academy from the other side of the vault door. They may even use the sword's power to force their way in, since they don't have the summer maiden to open the door.

I'm rewatching this after watching your Discussion and someone mentioned "If Weiss had no Aura how did she survive the final eye blast from Cinder " and the Answer is that Jaune shield her with his Aura like he did to Nora in vol6 against to Mech. So there's a good chance (Not good but you understand) that the People did die form the explosion and we can just focus on Team RWBY, Jaune and Neo💕

She literally smartened up and realized that her power alone cant achieve anything but if she uses peoples gifts/talents like Salem does she can achieve so much more. @@Mirality yeah, Watts was probably at his most useful dealing with Atlas. After that he'd have diminishing returns and likely would have been "phased out" (murdered) before too long anyways. (Might not even be a poor strategy, if she's starting to value her own plans over Salems, now that I think on it.) This has been a bit of a costly victory for Salem, huh? Hazel? Traitor then dead. Watts? Cooked. (We don't see a body but I don't see a way he lives so...) Now all of Remnant knows she's here! (mulan meme) so they can prepare. She does have the lamp (but it's useless) and the staff (she gonna do something scary with that shit) and an actually competent Cinder now so it probably more than evens out in her favor by quite a bit still.

You know what I want Jaune Arc to kill Cinder in the future volumes. Because it would be a perfect irony and reality check that Cinder gets. Cinder, who is considered to be a powerful and strong maiden end up being defeated, by someone she presume to be powerless and weak. How is that for poetry?
Todays death count according to what others know: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Neo, Jaune, Ironwood, Watts, Vine and an unknown number of civilians. Those going to wonderland: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Neo, Jaune and about 20 or so civilians.
Visually this volume was probably the best storywise... anyways I for next volume I predict that everyone who fell will see someone that died. Ruby and Yang will see summer rose. Weiss will see Jauqes. Blake will see Adam, Jaune will see Pyrrha and Neo will see Roman.
Jaune sent Nora through the portal to get Huntsmen to come back, not knowing the Vacuo portal was one-way only. Still in the wreck of Atlas, we have: Qrow, Robin, Hare, Elm, Marrow, and Ironwood and Watts - maybe. Ironwood and Watts were in Atlas when it crashed, and then flooded, so they could be dead, but I wouldn't bet on it. In "Neverland", Yang, Ruby, Blake, Wiess, Neo, Jaune, and a bunch of random citizens. In Vacuo, Oscar, Nora, Emerald, Ren, Winter, Willow, Witney, Kline, and most of the citizens, I guess. There were two cities worth of people to evacuate in a few short minutes. I really don't see more than a thousand or so making it through, so a lot would have been left behind. Mostly military and huntsmen I would guess. I figure even if team FUNKI survived the battle, they are dead now. Where the hell Piedro and Maria ended up is beyond me.
I think the original plan for Amity before it was damaged was for them to fly it to Vacuo, so that would be the direction they drifted in. Unfortunately, all we got from Pietro was that they'd touch down "just north" of someplace.
Me and a couple of people on another Discord have came to the conclusion this may be on one of the Dragon continents. Going back and rewatching Volume 6 this is possibly the Tree of Life that the God Bro of Light was chillin' under, Its just gotten bigger. And hearing again to the name of the story that Oscar was telling Oz "The Girl who fell through the World" hints at this. Like maybe a Maiden accidentally fell into this inky blackness, not knowing that it kind of acts like a teleporter, and wind up on one of these continents and probably met the God Bros. That may explain the "change" that the girl went through, she met the Creators.
I would just like to say 3 things. 1. I called ironwood being way better in a fight than alot gave him credit for, he beat winter until she got the powers. 2. I'm very glad jaune fell, because not only is he my favorite character so I'll get to see more of him in volume 9 but he's also incredibly useful with his semblance. And 3. The big tree at the end give me vibes of 2 things, either never land, or ygdrasil the world tree from Norse mythology
i did a video on the island and i wish it's the afro/Caribbean story about Bonancy....the story is about a spider that lives on a beautiful island and grants you anything your heart desires silver,gold or a loved one that's past and while he's granting you your wish he puts you in a trance and spins his web around you and devours you alive....Jaune,Neo,Ruby and Yang are at risk...there's only 3 weapons that fell Neo's,Blake's,Yang has her's and Ruby's i believe and Bonancy is huge and terrifying.😶
Well when Roster wants to permanently kill off a character they don't screw around. First Phyraa is turned to ash, then Ironwood and Watts get crushed, then drown, and then the water will most likely freeze again... they are thorough
-Chapter 14: The Final Word After Volume 3, one would think that you’d be prepared for anything that happens, and for the most part, that was true. There were few scenes in the continuing volumes that start to crack my shell, but I was able to tolerate it and think, ‘I can deal with this.’ And then this chapter happened… RWBY quote of the chapter _“And that’s checkmate.” (Cinder)_
-Winter vs Ironwood It is interesting to hear how when Winter was talking to Ironwood, she spoke mainly about how Mantle was affected in this exchange. She had already declared in the previous chapter that she will always stand up against the people of Atlas and with her words here, she fights for them as one and the same. And her other line bring up much how some villains behave (like _Thanos),_ that they will sacrifice anyone and anything to reach their goal, _except themselves._ A true hero are the ones who would put their lives _first_ for the sake of others. It would seem that Ironwood’s true enemy wasn’t just the Grimm, Salem or his fear. It was his ego.
-Belatedly Friendship Did Clover’s medal helped Qrow’s semblance? From the looks of it, it seems as though with it, he was able to use it to reverse his own semblance through concentration. Does this mean he can actually control his semblance now? And can he be able to use it back and forth now? That would be a plus. The Ace-Ops finally showing their true feelings to each other, with Elm convincing Harriet to step down from her actions, only too late that the bomb was armed (partially thanks to Watts), and then for Vine to follow suit, sacrificing himself to save his friends (like _Spock_ in the _Star Trek II)._
-Triumph of the Fall Usurper You know when things were going into _Infinity War_ level of foreboding when everyone is losing their weapons (although it is cool to see Weiss wielding both Myrtenaster _and_ Gambol Shroud), especially Crescent Rose and Crocea Mors (damaged). Congratulations Cinder, for reestablishing the #1 spot as the most hated person in RWBY. With the knowledge she had obtained from Jinn and with aid from Neo and Watts, she managed to obtain both the Relics, mortally wound Penny, and send all of team RWBY into the void. And to cover her tracks, she disposed of both Neo and Watts once she was done with them. She managed to get almost everything she wanted. The only thing she didn’t get was the Winter Maiden’s power. Even still, she pretty much ended the lives of the main protagonists. Or at least, that’s what she thinks…
-Sacrifice of the Winter Maiden …I need a moment… (keeping it together…) It was really a worry that Penny becoming human would make her vulnerable to injury and Cinder made it a reality, capitalizing on that weakness with the same attack she used on Vernal. Not only that, but realizing that she wouldn’t make it, she had Jaune to help kill herself in order to pass the power on to Winter. Whether Jaune carried out the act himself or Penny simply took his sword to do it herself, Jaune will become really messed up when this is over. Sadly enough, Penny’s words to him mirror the same ones that Pyrrha said to him before they died (and both by Cinder’s hands). _“There’s not enough time.” (Penny)_ _“There’s no time.” (Pyrrha)_ On a lighter (yet somber) note, Penny chose to use her final moments of life to help someone else rather than being unknowingly used as a pawn in her first death. What was really heartwarming/heart-striking was their conversation, which goes back to two of their earlier conversations in the previous volume, which for many, showed that Penny, a robotic girl, acted more human than Winter, a woman who acted like a machine. But Penny never really believed that and Ren saw it himself when seeing her emotions through his semblance how conflicted she was, that she was holding in more emotions inside. So Penny’s last words, as well as the fact that Winter was the one chosen to be in Penny’s last memory, telling Winter that she was her friend, was something that will likely let Winter be free from her previous persona, as Penny entrusted her with the Maiden powers, and in some way, trusting her also to be the next protector of Mantle, as that was her previous title. And with Ironwood’s decline, she would become the de-facto leader of Atlas. _“Do you believe in destiny?” (Pyrrha)_ It also shows that she is free from the destiny that Ironwood envisioned in her (although she had already repurposed it in the earlier volume as her own). What became her destiny given to her by Ironwood became a gift given to her from Penny. Because when Penny became the Winter Maiden, Winter probably believed that her destiny was gone. But it was Penny would fulfilled it for her as a gift, thus no longer bonding her to Ironwood’s idea So Weiss isn’t Elsa; Winter is… With Weiss’ fall, Cinder has two Maidens she has to contend with that. Now only that, but Winter was already formidable on her own right. As strong as Penny was, Winter is more a battle-hardened Huntress/soldier. Her with Maiden powers will be something Cinder will have problems with. Add to that, Winter vowed to make sure Cinder pays for what she done, and she has to power to do it. One thing is for sure though… The Grimm facing her now at Vacuo are about to be wrecked…
-The Fall of Atlas/Mantle I was a bit confused at first about when did Cinder use the staff to trap Watts into a fire, but then I remembered that in using the Relic, time is frozen and Cinder wouldn’t need too much of a plan to for Ambrosius to work with in order to get what she wanted. It is likely that Salem knows that Cinder is lying about many of her actions, but she doesn’t care since she has two of the Relics now and Atlas has been destroyed. And Salem was deceiving Cinder as well, bringing up her line of creating a ‘new world order’. To bring it up to Cinder means that Cinder doesn’t really know what Salem’s real endgame is. Rule of Two… This also shows Ironwood’s complete defeat, that he had no power to do anything now. And the way Salem and Cinder were walking away from him confirmed that. As far as they are concerned, Ironwood is beneath their notice now, and he knows that. In a small way, this is a bit of revenge for Cinder as well, destroying the world that he had suffered under as a youth. To summarize, Atlas/Mantle is gone and underwater, Qrow, Robyn, and the rest of the Ace-Ops are left to see it (with Qrow unable to contact what had happened to Ruby or the others), the survivors of Atlas/Mantle are now at Vacuo with Winter as the Winter Maiden, Penny is dead (likely Ironwood and Watts as well), and team RWBY, Jaune and Neo have disappeared into the void
-End-credit Thoughts/Theory So they are all potentially still alive. After all, the RWBY standard is typically, no body, no death. Now comes the question; where are they? Wonderland? Yggdrasil (The World Tree)? The afterlife? There are thoughts to mull about. If it turns out that they are in some sort of afterlife, that will definitely be a thing. Would they encounter anyone? Will Neo encounter Torchwick? Will Weiss see her grandfather? Will Blake have to confront Adam? Will Ruby and Yang see Summer (which would confirm her death)? Will Jaune see Pyrrha? How will they be able to get out of there? When that happens, will time have changed? Thus ends Volume 8… A session of RWBY Chibi is definitely in order…
First, you guys screamed so loud and high that it drove both my dogs crazy. Second, Jaune has had the biggest tragedy this season. Not only has he taken his first life, but it was the life of his friend and she ASKED him to do it. Jaune is going to need some serious emotional support from this and it seems Weiss is the best to help him thorough it. I know many think RWBY and Jaune are in the afterlife and while it's possible I think it's more likely a magical dimension that's separated from the rest of Remnant, like the Vaults. I think these events might have just set off the White Knight shipping

My theory is that weiss and jaune will stay in one part of the island, ruby, blake and neo in another part, and yang in another part also but alone. I think weiss will be the person who will help jaune go through this terrible time of having killed penny, while ruby and neo fight and argue about her not having killed Roman and Yang explores the island and likely that she will be the person to find a possible new character

I think Jaune will be the one who ultimately kills Cinder, but I think he'll go through a volume or two where we see him wrestling with himself over Penny's death. His inspiration-and namesake, Joan of Arc-is famously quoted as having said her sword would never shed the blood of an innocent.
Immediately after killing Penny, his sword is broken. If that's not intentional symbolism, I don't know what is.

If Watts really is dead, I think that's quite the loss for Salmes factions.
After all, they've got a lot of fighters and more are easy to come by.
But few, and probably no one Salem could get to join her, are as good at technology as Watts was.
That and Cinder just cut their numbers to only, her, Tyrian, and Mercury. And Mercury isn't all that loyal
There in much worst shape than they think. Watts and hazel are dead, Emerald has defected, Neo will never trust work with them again and Mercury is definitely not on board with Salem's endgame. They only have Salem, Tyrian and Cinder now, unless they have backup. Cinder keeps piling up the stupid decisions.
That said, Atlas was the main kingdom reliant on tech... It's quite possible that Watts wouldn't be as useful now.

Ay. But let's also not forget that while the kingdom is gone, it's people, including the ones who studied its technology, are still alive. Technology can always be rebuild, as long as the knowledge on know how to do it still exists.
Also, if I remember correctly, the virus Cinder and her team used in Vol. 2 and 3 was made by him. And we all know its importance to the fall of Beacon.

I got the feeling that the place Team Rwby, Jaune and Neo are is some how connected with the vaults and thats how the get back to the others in the end
If that's true, then they'll have to exit using the Atlas vault door, so hopefully that's still intact. Hopefully Qrow and his group go down looking for survivors. (Technically they could also exit through the vault in Mistral since that's also still open but it's so far away from everyone else I don't think that'll happen.)

My Wonderland theory is that the 6 of them (plus any surviving random people who got thrown off by Cinder), take on new character forms in the magical place, and lose their original memories. But somehow, they will feel out of place and something not quite right. Eventually something will jolt their memory back, like finding their weapons from their previous life. That is when they realise they don't belong there, and need to find their way back home. Time will flow at a different rate in that magical place. It's entirely possible those 6 may live out entire lifetimes there, but only a short time passed in Remnant. When they return back to Remnant, they will revert back to their youthful forms, but retain a lifetime of experience, hence changing them.
How do they make it back? It will be through the vaults but from the other side. They will figure out that the other world is connected to the vaults, and so make their way to the sword of destruction. Then they enter Shade academy from the other side of the vault door. They may even use the sword's power to force their way in, since they don't have the summer maiden to open the door.

I'm rewatching this after watching your Discussion and someone mentioned "If Weiss had no Aura how did she survive the final eye blast from Cinder " and the Answer is that Jaune shield her with his Aura like he did to Nora in vol6 against to Mech. Visually this volume was probably the best storywise... anyways I for next volume I predict that everyone who fell will see someone that died. Ruby and Yang will see summer rose. Weiss will see Jauqes. Blake will see Adam, Jaune will see Pyrrha and Neo will see Roman.

Still in the wreck of Atlas, we have: Qrow, Robin, Hare, Elm, Marrow, and Ironwood and Watts - maybe. Ironwood and Watts were in Atlas when it crashed, and then flooded, so they could be dead, but I wouldn't bet on it.
In "Neverland", Yang, Ruby, Blake, Wiess, Neo, Jaune, and a bunch of random citizens.
In Vacuo, Oscar, Nora, Emerald, Ren, Winter, Willow, Witney, Kline, and most of the citizens, I guess. There were two cities worth of people to evacuate in a few short minutes. I really don't see more than a thousand or so making it through, so a lot would have been left behind. Mostly military and huntsmen I would guess. I figure even if team FUNKI survived the battle, they are dead now.
Where the hell Piedro and Maria ended up is beyond me.

I think the original plan for Amity before it was damaged was for them to fly it to Vacuo, so that would be the direction they drifted in. Unfortunately, all we got from Pietro was that they'd touch down "just north" of someplace.

Me and a couple of people on another Discord have came to the conclusion this may be on one of the Dragon continents. Going back and rewatching Volume 6 this is possibly the Tree of Life that the God Bro of Light was chillin' under, Its just gotten bigger.
And hearing again to the name of the story that Oscar was telling Oz "The Girl who fell through the World" hints at this. Like maybe a Maiden accidentally fell into this inky blackness, not knowing that it kind of acts like a teleporter, and wind up on one of these continents and probably met the God Bros. That may explain the "change" that the girl went through, she met the Creators.

1. I called ironwood being way better in a fight than alot gave him credit for, he beat winter until she got the powers.
2. I'm very glad jaune fell, because not only is he my favorite character so I'll get to see more of him in volume 9 but he's also incredibly useful with his semblance.
And 3. The big tree at the end give me vibes of 2 things, either never land, or ygdrasil the world tree from Norse mythology

After Volume 3, one would think that you’d be prepared for anything that happens, and for the most part, that was true. There were few scenes in the continuing volumes that start to crack my shell, but I was able to tolerate it and think, ‘I can deal with this.’
And then this chapter happened…

-Winter vs Ironwood
It is interesting to hear how when Winter was talking to Ironwood, she spoke mainly about how Mantle was affected in this exchange. She had already declared in the previous chapter that she will always stand up against the people of Atlas and with her words here, she fights for them as one and the same. And her other line bring up much how some villains behave (like _Thanos),_ that they will sacrifice anyone and anything to reach their goal, _except themselves._ A true hero are the ones who would put their lives _first_ for the sake of others. It would seem that Ironwood’s true enemy wasn’t just the Grimm, Salem or his fear.
It was his ego.
-Belatedly Friendship
Did Clover’s medal helped Qrow’s semblance? From the looks of it, it seems as though with it, he was able to use it to reverse his own semblance through concentration. Does this mean he can actually control his semblance now? And can he be able to use it back and forth now? That would be a plus.
The Ace-Ops finally showing their true feelings to each other, with Elm convincing Harriet to step down from her actions, only too late that the bomb was armed (partially thanks to Watts), and then for Vine to follow suit, sacrificing himself to save his friends (like _Spock_ in the _Star Trek II)._
-Triumph of the Fall Usurper
You know when things were going into _Infinity War_ level of foreboding when everyone is losing their weapons (although it is cool to see Weiss wielding both Myrtenaster _and_ Gambol Shroud), especially Crescent Rose and Crocea Mors (damaged).
Congratulations Cinder, for reestablishing the #1 spot as the most hated person in RWBY. With the knowledge she had obtained from Jinn and with aid from Neo and Watts, she managed to obtain both the Relics, mortally wound Penny, and send all of team RWBY into the void. And to cover her tracks, she disposed of both Neo and Watts once she was done with them. She managed to get almost everything she wanted. The only thing she didn’t get was the Winter Maiden’s power. Even still, she pretty much ended the lives of the main protagonists.
Or at least, that’s what she thinks…

It was really a worry that Penny becoming human would make her vulnerable to injury and Cinder made it a reality, capitalizing on that weakness with the same attack she used on Vernal. Not only that, but realizing that she wouldn’t make it, she had Jaune to help kill herself in order to pass the power on to Winter. Whether Jaune carried out the act himself or Penny simply took his sword to do it herself, Jaune will become really messed up when this is over. Sadly enough, Penny’s words to him mirror the same ones that Pyrrha said to him before they died (and both by Cinder’s hands).

On a lighter (yet somber) note, Penny chose to use her final moments of life to help someone else rather than being unknowingly used as a pawn in her first death. What was really heartwarming/heart-striking was their conversation, which goes back to two of their earlier conversations in the previous volume, which for many, showed that Penny, a robotic girl, acted more human than Winter, a woman who acted like a machine.
But Penny never really believed that and Ren saw it himself when seeing her emotions through his semblance how conflicted she was, that she was holding in more emotions inside. So Penny’s last words, as well as the fact that Winter was the one chosen to be in Penny’s last memory, telling Winter that she was her friend, was something that will likely let Winter be free from her previous persona, as Penny entrusted her with the Maiden powers, and in some way, trusting her also to be the next protector of Mantle, as that was her previous title. And with Ironwood’s decline, she would become the de-facto leader of Atlas.

It also shows that she is free from the destiny that Ironwood envisioned in her (although she had already repurposed it in the earlier volume as her own). What became her destiny given to her by Ironwood became a gift given to her from Penny. Because when Penny became the Winter Maiden, Winter probably believed that her destiny was gone. But it was Penny would fulfilled it for her as a gift, thus no longer bonding her to Ironwood’s idea
So Weiss isn’t Elsa; Winter is…
With Weiss’ fall, Cinder has two Maidens she has to contend with that. Now only that, but Winter was already formidable on her own right. As strong as Penny was, Winter is more a battle-hardened Huntress/soldier. Her with Maiden powers will be something Cinder will have problems with. Add to that, Winter vowed to make sure Cinder pays for what she done, and she has to power to do it. One thing is for sure though…
The Grimm facing her now at Vacuo are about to be wrecked…
-The Fall of Atlas/Mantle
I was a bit confused at first about when did Cinder use the staff to trap Watts into a fire, but then I remembered that in using the Relic, time is frozen and Cinder wouldn’t need too much of a plan to for Ambrosius to work with in order to get what she wanted.
It is likely that Salem knows that Cinder is lying about many of her actions, but she doesn’t care since she has two of the Relics now and Atlas has been destroyed. And Salem was deceiving Cinder as well, bringing up her line of creating a ‘new world order’. To bring it up to Cinder means that Cinder doesn’t really know what Salem’s real endgame is.
Rule of Two…
This also shows Ironwood’s complete defeat, that he had no power to do anything now. And the way Salem and Cinder were walking away from him confirmed that. As far as they are concerned, Ironwood is beneath their notice now, and he knows that. In a small way, this is a bit of revenge for Cinder as well, destroying the world that he had suffered under as a youth.
To summarize, Atlas/Mantle is gone and underwater, Qrow, Robyn, and the rest of the Ace-Ops are left to see it (with Qrow unable to contact what had happened to Ruby or the others), the survivors of Atlas/Mantle are now at Vacuo with Winter as the Winter Maiden, Penny is dead (likely Ironwood and Watts as well), and team RWBY, Jaune and Neo have disappeared into the void
-End-credit Thoughts/Theory
So they are all potentially still alive. After all, the RWBY standard is typically, no body, no death. Now comes the question; where are they? Wonderland? Yggdrasil (The World Tree)? The afterlife? There are thoughts to mull about.
If it turns out that they are in some sort of afterlife, that will definitely be a thing. Would they encounter anyone? Will Neo encounter Torchwick? Will Weiss see her grandfather? Will Blake have to confront Adam? Will Ruby and Yang see Summer (which would confirm her death)? Will Jaune see Pyrrha? How will they be able to get out of there? When that happens, will time have changed?
Thus ends Volume 8…

First, you guys screamed so loud and high that it drove both my dogs crazy. Second, Jaune has had the biggest tragedy this season. Not only has he taken his first life, but it was the life of his friend and she ASKED him to do it. Jaune is going to need some serious emotional support from this and it seems Weiss is the best to help him thorough it. I know many think RWBY and Jaune are in the afterlife and while it's possible I think it's more likely a magical dimension that's separated from the rest of Remnant, like the Vaults. I think these events might have just set off the White Knight shipping
